Coming to Greece from Sicily across the Ionian and entering through the Gulf of Corinth and the Corinth Canal was culturaly and historically enlightening. The old city of Corinth was in fact one of the great hubs of Ancient Greece.
In this episode we leave the Corinth Canal and decide how to explore the over 1,000 Islands spread before us in the Aegean Sea. As there 5 of Greece's 6 Island groups in the Aegean, we decide to take one group at a time beginning with the Saronic Islands which is the first goup we find upon exiting the Canal.
We sail down the Eastern Coast of the Pennepolese bouncing between the Islands of the Saronic and the mainland discovering during this first taste of the Greek Islands of the Agean why this is such a great place to visit and especially sail.
In SAILING ADVENTURES WITH GRANDAD, I my amateur creations of my travels and experiences on Vayu my 44 ft X-yacht. The people I travel with, the places we go, the times we have and my reflections all the wonders I experience every day.
I am Michael, the grandad of this adventure, a lifetime sailor, practicing yogi, father of 4, grandad of 5, amateur chef, and thankful man. I live between Palma de Mallorca, Vayu my sailboat, and also Mexico, the country of my heart.
This journey is a celebration of life and dedicated to taking one day at a time, living spontaneously and gratefully as long as I can.
This channel was launched at the beginning of the Ukrainian invasion. I make monthly contributions to Save the Children-Ukraine, in the hope that my small bit added to millions of other small bits can in a small way help ease the suffering caused by this horrific war.

Marina fees can be insane eg 100 euros a night in Hvar Croatia. Do they come alongside in a little boat and offer food water and diesel like they do in Turkey??. That way you dont need Marina so often...

Thanks, will have to look into the walker bays, we’d like to have a dinghy that sails as well, (we’re cruising Mexico later this year) The Portland pudgy also looks like a good option.

Thanks for sharing this lovely experience .... absolutely wonderful filming and drone shots ... I am wondering when underway what percentage of this time is spent sailing versus motoring/motor sailing ????????????

Hi Brian, thanks for the nice thoughts. It all depends on the conditions. If the wind is available and can be used I sail. If too little or coming exactly from where I want to go and I don’t feel like spending all day tacking back and forth I may use the motor along with the sails. I’m now in Kythnos and there was zero wind on the way most of the time. So it was quite noisy and monotonous motoring along. But the prize is a beautiful quiet calm bay! Cheers 🍻
