I was born and raised in Hull and what comes through over and over in your pictures is just what a grand city she was. Not even the blitz could stop her. Hard working , tough, good people. Sold out by her own, The Common Market , loss of the fishing and all the support industries that fed off it. When it collapsed it did so with a vengeance and thousands like me had no choice but to leave. There was no work and the dole is soul destroying. It is not easy at times to look at these vids and see just what was lost.

We had a Dooks shoeshop down our street its now a barbers, the old man died a few years ago ,I wonder if he was 1 of the young men on the photograph ?
