I was born and raised in Hull and what comes through over and over in your pictures is just what a grand city she was. Not even the blitz could stop her. Hard working , tough, good people. Sold out by her own, The Common Market , loss of the fishing and all the support industries that fed off it. When it collapsed it did so with a vengeance and thousands like me had no choice but to leave.
There was no work and the dole is soul destroying.
It is not easy at times to look at these vids and see just what was lost.

Some very interesting photos in this collection, particularly of entrance into Queens dock.

The singer of Cheek to Cheek was Lew Sherwood. I didn't know of him. czcams.com/video/WwH9e2ZhNcg/video.html
