  • This Dryer has a terrible squeal noise. The issue was the idler pulley but that is only half the job. You have to take the dryer apart and then replace what is needed to fix the dryer. This video shows you how to take the dryer apart and repalce the rollers and pulleys on it. This noises on these dryers usually come from the rollers or the idler pulleys.

Great step by step video, I just finished repairing my dryer and your advice was spot on. The only issue I has was that I had put everything back together and made sure to connect all of the wiring, and I looked over at the table and the lint blower housing was looking left out, so after I told it wasn't it's fault and my wife stopped laughing, I took the front off and put it back together correctly. No squeling, no grinding. Remember these wise words of advice "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy." Red Green

Great video. Quick side note, you can replace the idler pulley (white wheel) by removing the rear panel and nothing else. If you need to replace the rollers, you will need to do it this way.

Thank you for this video. I bought the OEM kit and and a extra roller and I followed the video step by step to fix our dryer. One thing to note that my Maytag Bravos XL dryer had six rollers. So I clean up one of the old rollers and made sure it rolled smoothly. This saved me a lot of money doing this repair and cleaning my self. The dryer is now good as new and no more loud squeaky noise.

I also have 6 rollers.. we bought in May, 2017.
The interesting part is watching his video, you can see the spot where a sixth roller would go. Maybe they started with six and then realized they would save $5 per unit by cheaping out on one roller?

I got to the idler from the back side - it was seized up. Replaced the idler and put it back together after putting a little 3-in-1 on the shaft. It still makes a decent squeal. THEN I FOUND YOUR VIDEO! Realized I should have sanded it and I found an extra triangle clip in there... . Not sure what that's all about, but next time I do this, I'm going thru the front like you did so I can get to the rollers and clean it all out. Very clear video - thank you sir!!!

    This video was Soooo helpful.
I have a Maytag model# MEDB835DW3. My model had 6 rollers other than the idler pulley wheel. I replaced two on the back and two on the front with the new rollers. Then I just carefully pulled off the back left roller and the front left roller and sanded the axle pin, then I used a strand of cloth to clean the inside of the roller and reused the best two clips to reattached the old rollers.. I took my time and checked everything three times and it took me a total of two hours. ISide note: when the Mrs saw the parts all off the dryer she commented "that I should have called a pro". I responded " I have the bearded Appliance Repair guy helping me"' Thanks again for the very informative video.

Very instructive and high quality step-by-step repair. Saved me a $500 if I had to get it serviced by someone else. I’m not a very handy person and have limited tools, but was able to get the job done over a two day period. I’m pretty meticulous with the instructions, disassemble, cleaning, and reassemble so probably longer repair time than most. I ended up buying the non-branded repair kit on Amazon against your guidance. Hopefully that doesn’t come back to haunt me. It was a good fit and more importantly I was able to receive the part in one day. My only recommendation is to cut the triangle plastic tabs that hold the wheels in place. Those things were tough to remove and get back on. Thanks for lending your sharing your craft, the high quality video and your thoroughness in editing.

My dryer was seemingly fine and then one day it was squealing like mad and started jumping around to where I had to shut it off. I searched that and found this video. I ordered the kit which came in yesterday and just finished repairing the dryer. Your video was spot on and most helpful! My idler was seized, the drum roller in the middle of the front panel was almost seized but the best part was a sock wedged in the blower fan that had to be keeping it from spinning??? I have no idea how the dryer was even working at all. Anyways, thank you for the excellent video!!

Great tutorial…. Wish I’d listened when you said to use OEM parts. I saved about 25 bucks by going with some thing off of Amazon… And it lasted two months. When I went back in, I found a different roller on the back wall that was causing the squeaking. The rubber on all of the rollers that I had replaced was breaking down and it was all over inside the dryer. Tough lesson learned!
The good thing is that I had a great tutorial. I was already familiar with saw the second time went quicker … I was just frustrated to have to do it again always use the OEM parts for this repair!

i thought the belt or a roller was worn out , but i eventually found a sock that somehow fell into the lint slot and got below the removable lint screen. The sock got chewed up by the blower. pretty obvious if I had just looked under the lint screen trap. unfortunately, I didnt see it until i had removed the back and front panels of the cabinet. still, it now works, all the dog hair and lint are out from the bottom innards, and i didnt screw anything up. thanks for the very concise and helpful tutorial.

This video was very helpful. My dryer was making the same sound. Fortunately I was able to pull my dryer out far enough to remove the back. Unbelievably easier. This is the view after you remove the back. 6:21

Came here to see how to make my Dryer apart without damaging it. Got much more useful information that I bargained for. Thank you! I will be doing a clean / service on mine before it gets bad.

Video was very helpful to give me the confidence to do this repair on my own. My Maytag model was slightly different than the one in the video. But the concepts of the repair were the same. Hardest part of the job was putting the tension belt back on the barrel and thru the idler pulley. Finished whole job in under 2 hours. Compared to the 45 minutes for the expert that made this video. Joe vs. Pro.

Just wanted to add my thanks for the great video. I just finished fixing my dryer, putting the belt back on was a little of a challenge, but got it done after a couple of fumble tries. Fortunately your shot of the inside putting the belt on was icing on the cake. Putting the front on was a little quirky, fortunately I took I took a picture of it before hand and got it squared away. I turned it on and voila..... Good job keep up the helpful videos. Tried to give you a little thank$$, but the payment failed on Google.

Thank you for this video. That squealing was driving us crazy LOL and of course the warranty ran out 2 months ago. Your instructions were very clear and it's fixed and working. Thank you again!

My dryer was screaming. Took it all apart as per video. All pulleys and wheels look just fine. I will go ahead and replace those parts. Keeping my fingers crossed its not the motor (although the motor spins freely by hand),

Thanks for.showing me.hpw to take it apart. A dryer sheet was stuck in the lint trap and stuck in the fan. Making it hum, and there are no videos on that, but yours helped and will be saved.

This video is great. I have taken apart my washer to replace a bearing so I figured it would be that level of difficulty. It was actually easier. Thanks for keeping everything clear and simple and the video portion where you have the camera on the backside was very helpful for getting that belt back on. I didn't really pay too much attention removing it so it was good you included that. Thank you!
