Man, I'm just one treatment away from being done with radiation. Nobody has really outlined these fibrosis related symptoms that may arise YEARS from now for me. Good, yet concerning, information. Thanks.

I’m a survivor of 16 years from stage4 squamous cell carcinoma of the nasopharyngeal region caused by mononucleosis. Radiation to both sides of my face and neck have left me with all of the above mentioned side effects.

Same . Nasopharyngex Stage 4 squamous cell hpv16 positive with bilateral lymphnode involvement. It took them years to figure it out first symptom was left eardrum burning pain that no ent or gp could recognize as a symptom that something was wrong in the naso and oral pharynx. I got misdiagnosed as tmj dysfunction and acid reflux. Makes me sick I could have been treated earlier with lower chemo and radiation! In remission since 2017 yet still have problems swallowing, cronic tmj issues , neck pain, had to have all my teeth pulled 11/23 been in agony ever since back right is a mess exposed bone won’t heal my surgeon is a jerk negligent rough handed damaged tissue that had nothing to do with tooth extractions…. I’m disgusted. Lost my job cuz I called in 4 times in 6 mos because of the horrible pain in the occipital neck region so bad I would go blind if I turned my head to the right and when vision would flash back on I’d be disoriented and loose my balance. Completely dead saliva glands no wonder my mouth won’t heal. When I eat it’s agony to swallow my sinuses fill up and then the thick post nasal drip so thick food gets caught in it and I can’t swallow and I gag. At times I’m trying to eat yogurt I’m so hungry I eat to fast and then swallowing causes yogurt to go up my nose!

@@joanbaczek2575 definitely familiar with those issues. But,things do get better and easier-it just takes time combined with neck stretches and exercises. Unfortunately,my salivary glands have not recovered100%,so I must have liquid with all solid foods. Skin needs tender care with healthy creams and gentle massages. And if there’s any advice I can give,it would be practice fasting, avoid sugar and eat a whole bunch of vegetables, juiced or whole. It’s something me and my wife do,as she is a recent breast cancer survivor (diagnosed in 2016). We can’t afford to let our guard down! We get much dietary information from a few yt doctors; Jason Fung, Eric Berg & Sten Ekberg. As much as it may be uncomfortable, keep your head up,because it does get better!
