It's impossible to not enjoy this fella's demeanor and presentation. He'd make a great neighbor. One more thing... that rig's shift handle... TOP NOTCH - VERY COOL!
Thank you brother, been thinking about the same thing you've done, hadn't thought about taking out the seat for more room, good ideal. Going to get mine this weekend and put it in. Be safe and god bless.
Thank you for the review. Was looking for something like this for my truck. These idiots saying we can’t idle really piss me off. Beautiful truck and I subscribed
After reading many reviews and watching a lot of videos, I chose this option for my first backup power station. czcams.com/users/postUgkxHypYDKHAN93Lp2RQpfvU_ksc70wJ00pt I was between this and a larger option that could power a wider range of items, but the price/size/capacity blend seemed right for this unit. Hasn't gotten a ton of use yet, but the build quality is solid and it charges fine via the Rockpals solar panel I purchased to pair with it. One thing to note is that the screen is optimized for a top down viewing angle, which makes sense, but this means it washes out at other angles - especially low angles. Not a huge deal, but perhaps a better option for the display could be used to provide wider viewing angles.
Hey man, Stabil is for long term storage of gasoline powered vehicles . It keeps the gasoline from breaking down and gumming up in the tank. You don't need to use it if you are running the generator frequently. Great vid, thank you.
I have one of those portable a/c units for my house and man that thing cools better than my actual house a/c. In a small room it will cool down within 7 minutes from 80 degrees down to around 69 degrees and that's a 10x10 room!
How was the next morning water spill up, you need water drain for sure unit catches over a gallon in one night. Buy inverter generator with remote start and eco mode 100 dollar difference. Remove ac units wheels and secure it. It runs 8hrs but can be extended with aftermarket kits additional tank for fuel i got this setup in w900 studio sleeper firman or champion 3300 watt will do the job 8000to 10000 btu toshiba unit is enough
Old portable units have a water drain hose . I have 1 unit in my room I bought a few years ago and no need to worry about the water the unit will evaporate the water .
Was thinking about doing this in my truck as well....I actually have an APU in my truck but the stupid thing stopped blowing cold and only blows heat and I can only use the fan which circulates the air inside the cab so if its hot outside its circulating hot air I've gotten it fixed 6 times and after the last time I said fuck it not getting it fixed everytime I did I spent $800.....have a 1500watt Inverter not really worried bout it draining the batteries since the apu is a generator itself so if the volta get low it'll cut on....definitely buying this tomorrow
I did the same thing I installed my portable Ac in my sleeping bank and I used Westinghouse 2200 watt generator but the generator was keep dying was not giving efficiency so I stopped and I return the generator wondering to buy heavy duty generator . How about your experience please let me know it will be useful for all.thanks
The portable AC units with a single hose is not a good design, 2 hoses are required to avoid creating a negative pressure inside the cab which pulls in outside hot air making the unit constantly pulling in hot air to make up the air being discharged through the single hose. The 2 hose designs bring in outside air and relect the air outside thus keeping your cold air in the cab, not constantly bringing in hot air to the cab via single hose unts, !!
Why not get a couple hundred AH of lithium and do one of those $800 mini splits? From what I've seen they run in eco at 400W and max at 900W. 200AH of 12V lithiium gives you 2500Wh so I would think you could get an easy 5 hours without any form of charging. DC to DC might be easier than solar since its such a big truck. You could probably do 50A DC to DC and in a 12V that's 600W of charging power so a 5 hour charging cycle from completely empty but more likely 4 hours if you stop at 20% State of Charge. You would pretty much always have a charged battery when you stop to sleep and in eco mode you could go all night. 200AH of lithium is going to run you $700 but you could bump it up to 400AH for $1300 and then you would never worry about sleeping with the unit on. The DC to DC charger is less than $200, I think the quality Victron units are just over $150. So $800+$1300+$200=$2300 for a permanent solution. $1700 for less AH.
I want to try the same thing but with a 12 volt 2000 watt inverter. If it drains the truck batteries to much I can add a 2nd battery bank to support 2 more batteries with a regulator so the AC never pulls off the truck batteries only the auxiliary batteries ( 2nd battery bank ) similar to an RV or Marine set up on a boat. I am not to crazy about generators. To much noise and always having to fill up the little fuel tank can be annoying and somewhat potential for a fire hazard I would think but if if works for you great. Just please don't park next to me lol
I have the park smart system on my truck. Which recently stopped blowing cold. Looks like to add freon or troubleshoot. I'd have to remove the entire cabinet. I have 4 auxiliary batteries under the cat walk which powered the parksmart system. Now that you're mentioning about hooking the inverter to the auxiliary batteries then hooking up the Portable AC. this actually makes sense. I think I want to try it. Just today I was looking at the exact generator in the video at Harbor Freight for $500 and considering getting it. I hate idling my truck
The air conditioner I bought from Costco is similar to yours. Why is it installed in the truck, the effect is not good, and there is no cold feeling, how should I improve it? Is it the machine's problem?
This ac unit is ok, but sucks outside highly valuable cold air from the cabin due to single hose configuration, so consider buying Dual Hose portable ac unit, it’s like 100-150 bucks more expensive, but twice more efficient
I'm thinking about doing the same thing, but I'm thinking about just plugging that air conditioner into a 3000 watt inverter that's already in the truck... You think this would work?
Loool pearson who likes to save money bought new BRICK truck ( peterbilt) which have aerodynamics of a brick and does 5.5mpg lol. If you going to get an emissions truck just get a volvo or freightliner, you will get 8mpg if you drive 68mph and 8.5mpg if you drive 63mph and easily save thousands each month .
Thanks. Great ingenuity. I’m outside an APU dealer now about to be the first thru the gate this morning so they can work on this Tri Pack. What I need for my other truck (in freightliner) is a cheap Apu that will power my devices and batteries 🪫 while sleep not just the AC only. I need it all but don’t want to pay 13k for one of these traditional ones. If anybody knows of something that actually works, include the link. I see those Chinese brand-new APUs (1000-$1500) online but don’t know of anyone personally using them. Can’t even tell how they work. Thanks.
If you get the predator 3500 watt generator and mount it to you chassis in a box like the apu that should power everything while you sleep including a portable ac
GREAT VIDEO! SUPER NICE TRUCK. SLEEPING AT A TRUCK STOP AND A REEFER PARKS NEXT TO ME AND YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. YOU WAKE UP AND ALMOST WANT TO MOVE TO A DIFFERENT TRUCK SPACE. WELL GUESS WHAT? A TRI-PAK IS NOT MUCH QUIETER. WHEN THE GUY PARKS AND STARTS HIS TRI-PAK, YOU WAKE UP. YOUR A/C AND GENERATOR IDEA IS VERY GOOD. I FOUND YOUR VIDEO BECAUSE I SEARCHED CZcams FOR THIS: "peterbilt 567 no idle air conditioning". AS YOU KNOW, IT IS A PETERBILT FACTORY INSTALLED A/C AND HEAT SYSTEM THAT RUNS OFF SEPARATE BATTERY PAK MOUNTED ON THE FRAME. I DON'T THINK IT CAN RUN THE 12 VOLT A/C - HEAT FOR VERY LONG. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
*I love the Input/Output wattage function along with the % of charge remaining. solar **Generater.Systems** Well done.*
*Works great **Fastly.Cool** compact and Easy to install*

You can use the seat screws and make a bracket with some hooks on it for the ac to be strapped down

Good Alternative Veer. My friend did the same thing last year. Works fine for him.
Hanji bro.. cools down pretty quick and saves alot of money
I have to say, I didn't have high expectations but this turned out to be a great video!

The APU is not dependable and way to expensive. Good video.
Bro 1k ho gye congratulations 🎊🎉 keep doing that good works
Thanks alot bro
Cool. But without the vent hose on the back of your ac it will just make your truck hotter. These ac units have those vents to remove the hot air
he has one and it's running outside the window you can see it in the video.
