    Great fix, Vince! Nice and easy (for someone like you who knows what they're doing!)
    That Nespresso does look like it can make a nice cup of coffee from a capsule. I have a Keurig that I use periodically, and the coffee that it makes isn't nearly as creamy and full as your Nespresso. But I do like how on mine, when I raise the lid to put a capsule in it, the simple act of lowing the lid back down and pressing it closed manually punctures the cup on both sides, making it ready for use. Who needs a motor and an entire movable mechanism, that can be a point of failure? Sometimes simplicity is key!

    • @Mymatevince
      @Mymatevince  Před měsícem

      Thanks, I think it is a way to simply charge more. I completely agree with you. It is no bother at all to manually move a lever, it takes 1 second to do. Just adding pointless complexity!👍

    I have a toy from, I think, the 60's. It's a little cup, you put your dice in there, it shakes them up and tips the cup over to roll dice for you. Got it from a church thrift store. Didn't work. I heard Vince in my head "the motor's seized...the motor's seized!" Sure enough, turned the motor a couple times, batteries back in, works like a charm. Wish everybody knew to check a seized motor first instead of just assuming something doesn't work and throwing it out.

    We've gone backwards. Why do modern devices have so much tech in them? The more that is manually done by the end user, the better as there's less to fail and the device will last longer. I'm not saying the user should have to do absolutely everything because that would be inconvenient but would it hurt if they moved a plastic piece to puncture the capsule manually? Surely it wouldn't.

    • @HanCurunyr
      @HanCurunyr Před měsícem +1

      All nespresso machines uses motors to puncture the capsules in the last decade, only very old machines uses a lever to make the user do it
      There is a machine called Caffitaly that all models, the user punctures the capsules, because the lid is also a lever, you have to apply a tid bit of force,. but its one less point of failure for the machine

    Interesting I sometimes get tempted to buy one of these when I see them on special offers but seeing the amount of coffee you got for a capsule I think I've been put off the idea.

      @@teknikal6969 you are right to avoid them. They always seemed like a bit of a con to me. Plus you don’t actually know what’s in the capsule.
      FWIW my coffee choice is a 40 quid hand operated grinder and a fairly basic espresso machine that was about 120 quid off Amazon. I buy kg bags of beans. I stick to black doubles but the wife likes the odd latte which you can make with the steam wand. Moccas are easy too. I didn’t want an integrated grinder as it seems that it’ll be more to go wrong. And I rather like the ritual that goes with hand powered grinding.
