    I was stuck in non-moving traffic on the 110 fwy, watching the funnel cloud coming directly at me... Rocked my car like a toy and substantial damage to car's body and windows... However, I drove to work with busted windows after it passed! Suffered only minor cuts, thank God!

      @@yellowlght9181 It was about 8:00 in the morning. There was a tornado in Montebello, a suburb of Los Angeles just yesterday and it damaged 17 buildings, went close to a school and sucked a teacher out of her high school classroom and rescued by a student, and injured one other person. It has been all over the news with photos online as well. There was a tornado in Carpinteria, near Santa Barbara, yesterday, so they do happen in California more frequently than you might think, but the 1983 tornado was very large. Each year there are an average of 10 small tornadoes in California, some more than others.

      @@marcchatow9516 The same day of the 1983 tornado also included a 3.5 earthquake centered in Inglewood. The rain, it is now said by seismologists, if very heavy, is capable of triggering earthquakes and the large earthquakes projected for the region could literally be groundbreaking as well. There has not only been a rain drought, but an earthquake drought in California recently. Well, the rain drought is over currently.

      Tornados apparently happen every year in CA. Just light like the F1-F2. I am born and raised (SoCal) and had no idea. Lol 😆 Many of us thought sure sign of end of times. Haha That's what you get when uneducated about it. #public_school What scares me, is if we had larger tornados than the F2....we don't have proper shelters here like most do in other states. We don't even have an alarm system for that here as far as I know. Maybe push notifications...but I know ppl that keep their phones off for a day or two.

    • @jasonburger3533
      @jasonburger3533 Před rokem

      @@ari3lz3pp There are no early warning systems for tornadoes in California. The Emergency Alert System, EAS, formerly the Emergency Broadcast System, EBS, would be the way that all regional emergencies in the Los Angeles region should be communicated, traditionally on some AM and FM radio stations and local television stations as well. That preceded smartphones and many do have them off for days at a time; I have been in that category.
