I sure will miss the iconic look of the original N&E. Enjoy y’all’s weekend!

I'm glad I was able to photograph the N&E back in 2016 before RJ Corman bought them. I even caught the blue B40-8's the day they took delivery of them from CSX. I also saw a lot of 8531 running long hood forwards, pretty much the only engine I didn't see was 8585 and I had to scour eBay for a long time to find a slide photo of it. At least RJ Corman let them keep the GE's, despite the fact they got repainted. Something I wish I could've done was ride the "rare miles" excursions hosted by the TCRM that went all the way out to Monterey to commemorate the end of private ownership right before the line was sold in 2018. Unfortunately, I found out about that the day it was happening or I would've 100% booked a ticket on the dome car for that ride.
The amount of time/effort you put into your video's is unbelievable. Great video!
I do love seeing narrow nose Dash-8s and F-40PHs. That's an incredible shade of purple on those F-40s!
Man that was sweet! Glad you got to see the last of those beauties!
Easily one of your best yet. Hate I wasn’t able to see 8531 in that scheme!
I remember when N&E still had that green and yellow on Dash 7s. A shame to see it all go away because the Red and Silver doesn't do justice in my opinion. Great video as always!
Good video. I just subscribed. I like Tennessee railroads. I lived in Oak Ridge for 22 years.
Shortline railroads sure are interesting! Love the video! keep up the great work!!
they WERE interesting before corporations started homogenizing class III railroading
Hopefully RJ will include the small NE logo on all the rebrands @27:33, nice gets!
I've lived by Nashville & Eastern trackage my entire life, it's sad to see this era come to an end. While I don't remember the dash 7s I do remember the superfleet's and ex-LMX locomotives running by my house back when they still used those old Amtrak ballast hoppers. I remember the day when I watched the train go by and seeing two of the ex-CSX dash 8s right after they were put into service. A thought I had when I saw the repainted locomotives was that RJ Corman should put the Nashville & Eastern decals on the side with "The City of Watertown" or "The City of Nashville" and the other cities the railroad runs through on 8585, 579, 568, and 574. This was a great production Sam, and I hope to see the Nashville & Eastern run for many years to come.
En México en una empresa hay una locomotora U23 todavía pintada de verde con logotipo NyE trabajando duramente
NYE? do you mean N&E?
Great catches and awesome video
Incidentally, my parents met in grad school in Knoxville. Married 50 years.
Great video. I will say its nice to see the 500 series back in red and silver
Great Coverage of N&E
💯Excellent report. Completely new pictures for me. From Andreas 👨✈from Bavaria-Germany👍👍👍
Farewell Nashville and Eastern original colors. We will miss you. The Nashville and Eastern colors will be replaced by the red and silver of RJ Corman Railroad Corman. I hope one or a few originally painted N&E locomotives get donated to a museum. N&E original colors: gone but not forgotten.
The original colors won’t be retired, they will still be in service in RJ Corman paint
Top shelf content right here. Probably my favorite from your channel. Thanks for sharing 👍
@@alcopower5710 Every bit as good as Danny Harmon but with a fraction of the subs.
This has been my favourite shortline since finding it on your page the GEs are my favourites
Hate to see that kind of progress! Been taking pics and videos since 2020, every time we visited our daughter in Lebanon. Always liked the two X CSX and the Green and yellow N&E. 😢
I like the BNSF H2 on the standard cabs, its rare to see it today
Great video quality and creativity! Great Commentary and Knowledge! Absolutely Superb Rail Tennessee!
So glad my favorite locomotive still alive! Even if it is the 4 axal version! I Miss the D8-40CW on class 1's, never been the same since they wrongfully purged. I have got to get shots of these with my drone! Look up Ex Conrail Productions if you want Conrail heritage videos! ill be posting on there again soon!
Awesome video Sam!
Really cool video, but it's one solid train horn blast for a solid 33 minutes!!! My head is still ringing. They love, love their locomotive horns for sure. Whew weeee.......
Pretty sad affair, glad to see this! (Dave).
Very well done, Sam! Spectacular coverage!
Thank You and Merry Christmas.
Gotta love a good old short line railroad. Thanks for bringing it to us.
Great production here man, the narrating, the shots and you can’t go wrong with those old GE’s. It’s a shame seeing another unique railroad assimilated but at least those B39-8s were red well. Good stuff as always!
Excellent work on this. Great job.
Great video.
Very well done video enjoyed every second 🔥
It sucks that the remaining Dash 8s got repainted into the RJ Corman paint scheme. They look good in RJ Corman paint tho
I absolutely love watching the videos of certain trains working the industries! Keep up the good work and awesome video!
Excellent video Sam! I love the ground and drone mix footage! ;) Love to see some industrial action too :)
This painful, but I got through it. Feel like I lost a loved one.
I'm sure miss nashville and eastern
Another Fallen Flag, it is a shame. I am 72 yrs old and remember many of the original Trains Lines from the years of Steam and when Diesel was first introduced as a child. And before long all that will be left are Class 1 Trains pulling even the Short Lines under the subsidiary names. Thanks for posting, Rail Tennessee.
As nice as it is to see the old Dash 8s with a new coat of paint, it's a shame it's such a corporate livery. I'm not saying go full NCStL heritage unit (even though that's the company that ran through my town so I wouldn't mind it either), but just updating things with a consistent livery that still looks like a railroad first and an investment company second would be nice. They could have the red on the main body, the N&E logo, and white or yellow on the nose setup in the same pattern as 8531.
Shout out for Old Hickory, my mom's childhood home town.
I really would like people that do videos like this would show the entire train, because they may miss something interesting.
Hey! Thanks for watching. I do (in raw) film the whole train… but cut it down for the videos sake. If there was something super interesting later on the train, I would be sure to showcase that some way. Thanks!

7:00 that p5 sounds amazing
I’d love to know how it got that Southern-style tuned horn. Those Santa Fe engines typically had P3s and definitely didn’t sound like that sweet P5!
My uncle worked for the ICRR. Those horns were very common on their Sd70 engines. He said they got the public’s attention.
I hope that they restore one of the Dash 8-40BWs to Santa Fe war bonnet paint because unfortunately BNSF doesn’t look like they are going to do it!
Well despite RJ Corman's takeover, at least the Dash 8s are still gonna be used, considering they're slowly becoming extinct on Class I's
I like the 500s in red and silver. Truer to their Santa Fe roots.
Too bad RJ corman doesn't let them have at least one unit in og paint ya know
You mentioned a train coming down from Cookeville. I thought the N&E line up there was now closed. Not so? I am still bummed out over the wrecking of the old TC. I feel the upper Cumberland would have been better served had this blocked.
CSX only abandoned the segment past Monterey to spite NS, even though they didn't really gain anything by cutting off the N&E's access to east Tennessee.
Connecting the lines between Cookeville and Crossville would be almost impossible now because Crossville has built so many buildings over the existing RoW. It's still used by the lime rock mine whose name I can't pronounce, from Crab Orchard down to the NS interchange.
@@RealJeep it sucks because most of the TC track is still out there, reviving the Knoxville to Nashville connection would've been a piece of cake
CSX just like their predecessor L&N wanted to be sure the Southern/NS weren’t able to have a connection to Nashville so the tracks were taken up between Monterey and Crossville when they abandoned that portion.
@@brandonb.9498 Last time I was out that way, I could've sworn the rails were still in place. They looked far too light for modern equipment. But yeah, it's unfortunate that the TC fell into the hands of a RR who didn't have their best interests in mind.
However there is one Dash 8 still with CSX and it carries the new YN3C Livery that being 9280.
So I know the NE01 is the dedicated rock train and that the NE04 is the dedicated DuPont Rayon City train and that NE02 mostly serves the Vine Hill and CSX Interchange but at the end you talk about NE03? Does it have a certain dedicated route?
An apparition appears at 7:23 and crosses the crossing in front of the train. Was someone killed at this crossing?
I think it's a smudge on your monitor.
To me it looked like some dust or a maybe a bug the camera picked up. I live just a minute down the road from this crossing and have never heard anything about it. Doesn’t mean it hasn’t though.
@@RealJeep def something there, it moves
I wish Norfolk Southern bought the N&E instead of RJ Corman & @13:04 why don’t they have any yield signs on those cross bucks
If NS would have took it over, they would have been ripping it up by now. For operation, a shortline is ALWAYS better than a class 1.
0:38 the ex CSX B40s didn’t deserve the slander :(
Anyone who grew up watching the YN2 (and earlier) paint schemes will say otherwise. That God awful YN3 deserves every bit the negative comments it gets.
@@anb7408 YN2 is definitely superior, by a landslide. I’d still prefer YN3 over most major class 1’s colors though.
“Ugly blueberries”
Bahaha. Prefer to call that horrid CSX YN3 as a blue turd.
