I am in no way a musical person..in fact, I despise them. I swear, when I watched the teaser for Tick Tick..Boom, I replayed “Bo bo bobo bo..” a thousand times and since watching the movie 3 times now…30/90 has its own playlist and I bawled my eyes out at the ending. I even went on CZcams to watch the video of Rent with its original/premiere cast, the one where they had no set designs, just raw emotion on stage and watch Larson play 30/90 is just heartbreaking. You can see the passion for the craft exuding and for him to die so tragically. I hope the doctor that misdiagnosed his condition, as “just the flu” was/is forever haunted by Jonathan Larson

I know nothing about the real Larson but boy is this film all kinds of epic. This song is the highlight of the film. If you must sum up a character in one song, then this is it. A wide eyed dreamer living in a run down apartment yet choosing to live life to the fullest.
Unfortunately his girlfriend is pushed to the sidelines listening to a song that is all about him, during a party that was supposed to be about her.

How Andrew and Lin describe the scene is that this song was Jonathan trying to wake up a dying party. The scene after this is him freezing to death to talk to her on the roof.
