Funny thing about the red R2 unit that Luke almost bought. (Who, by the way, is actually an R5 unit.) He and R2-D2 talked in the Sandcrawler. R5 had been there for years, and he knew that the Jawas were going to junk him if he didn't get sold at the moisture farm. But after hearing about the important mission, he decided that R2 needed it more and blew his motivator on purpose.
So R5’s the real hero of this skywalker saga lol

I thought astromech droids only spoke in beeps. I can barely understand R2-D2 and he's my favorite droid out of the franchise.
C3PO: "What is that?"
R2D2: "It's a holo of his sister, you better tell him before it gets awkward"
C3PO: "Old data"
R2D2: "You're sick!"
C3PO - "I'm going to regret this"
R2D2 - "I already do"

R2 was always my favorite ever since 1977, and this is exactly what I imagined him saying. Also R2 is legit the biggest hero of the entire rebellion.
R2 is seriously the most underappreciated character in all of _Star Wars._ He's stubborn and sassy, but determined, brave, loyal, and he's been saving everyone's ass since 1977.

He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.
Is it possible to learn this power?

6:58 I think an older script for the film actually had R2 speaking English/basic I guess they decided to cut jt because they thought it'd be better if it was up to the viewers imagination
Wonder if anyon could use that script and make a fan edit of A New Hope with subtitles for R2 (the lines being from the script)
Much like when on set, the actor for Chewbacca actually spoke the English version of what the character was saying
