This really is Christopher Nolan’s Schindler’s List moment. The man has been a directorial tour de force for over two decades and now he’s received the Oscar for it. Well earned Mr. Nolan.
It’s interesting because Spielberg also won Oscar’s for Schindler List and Jurassic Park so nice parallelism
@@EthanDuran-xx5pu Additionally, Spielberg and Nolan also had a huge sentiment around them prior to their wins that they were massively overdue, and it wasn't until they made a World War II-set film (that also happened to be a huge box office hit) that they finally won.

@@EthanDuran-xx5pu Jurassic Park was a Technical Achievement Masterpiece and Schindler’s List was a historical piece that was a double edged sword which was a made within the same timeframe of each other that guaranteed him Oscar “gold”.
Christopher Nolan always knows how to engage the audience while commanding the scene. The thought that he finally gets the Oscar for a character who is so similar in perfectionism is so fitting.

Hans Zimmer is his biggest musical collaborator and had a heavy hand in the Pirates series...otherwise might just be a random selection they chose.

Yes he's one of those. If you can work with him, you probably try to get the gig...In any capacity, actor, editor, etc. Because it will enrich your experience, plus a chance to make something artistically satisfying. Robert Downey talked about how he felt improved for having worked with Nolan and the other actors.

The academy is now setting rules for more minorities to get nominated, and women have won Best Director even before that rule was put into place.

I’ve never wanted anyone to win an Oscar more. This man is the reason I got into film. When I saw The Dark Knight on a poor quality DVD at home as a teenager, I remember thinking “Wow, okay.. that’s something I’ve never seen before”. It was the first time a film had truly captivated me. So when Inception came out a year later I decided to go see it in the cinema for a better experience - and I was completely blown away. It showed me the possibilities were endless with this art form and ever since I’ve been a massive fan of Chris’ work.
I’m sure I’m not alone - Chris has raised an entire generation of film buffs and yet with Oppenheimer, he somehow raised the bar even further. An astonishing film from one of the very best filmmakers there’s ever been. So very well deserved.
This will go down in history as one of the most deserved Oscars ever.

I did a double take hearing this was his first ever Oscar win. I legit thought this guy would've had several by now.
This one felt very surreal to me man watching my favorite Classic director like Spielberg presenting Best Director and awarding it to Nolan my favorite Modern day Director is just really something out of this world for me man and I absolutely loved witnessing it seriously

People have chafed at Nolan being described as the next Kubrick or Malick -maybe because it’s obvious: he’s the next Spielberg! He’s already made his thriller, his 2001 inspired sci-fi movie, his action-adventure trilogy, his war film, his personal statement (I think that was Inception), and now his epic historical drama.

At least since Inception he should have already had his Oscar for Best Director. They ate a lot of shit to give Christopher nolan his moment. I wasn't asking for Oppenheimer to win Best Picture, the only thing I was asking was for Christopher nolan to win Best Director.
It took the Academy that long to finally give this talented and ambitious director the recognition he deserves. Even though he was robbed for Inception and The Dark Knight, I'm glad he got his due. Like gravity, all it took was a push.
