When the Monte Carlo was in its heyday, I remember parking the car in the valet parking line and entering the nice, air-conditioned lobby which had fresh flowers all over and it smelled fantastic, and at that moment it was like yes, I'm back to have some fun in Vegas like it would trigger fond memories. Probably sounds crazy but it's true.
Not crazy at all. It's what made vegas special
Smells are so powerful.
@@Milestomemoriesso is carpet 😊
The Mirage always had a floral scent, partially due to the live plants in the atrium.
Now they have the fake scents that come out of the vents
That was a good line Mark "You had an escort for 10 years for 3 million dollars".
It was a cold, sad truth....but yeah.
Cheaper than getting married and losing half of your net worth in a divorce.
It seems obvious that the monorail should start at the airpoint, but as we all know the taxi lobby would never make that happen. Very frustrating.
It should have branched out from the airport from the very beginning and been supported by the state. just keep making it better there is no better system available and it will only go up in costs the longer they wait to do if. Taking all those vehicles off the strip is a no brainer.
most airline passengers have too much luggage for the monorail
Would have been nice for everyone

Smacking a machine that doesn’t need it is ridiculous. I saw a lady at the Bellagio crack a screen because her ringfinger hit the screen. She tried to deny it but security zoomed in on her. I was 2 machines away. Apparently they said it was $4000 to replace that screen because she cracked it
Wow expensive mistake but she probably didn’t learn. 😂
@@Milestomemories yeah I’m not sure if she learned her lesson this happened at the Bellagio last April 2023. She kept trying to deny it but security is like we are watching you oh there’s like 20 cameras watching her.
@@Milestomemories When she didnt win, she realized that she didn't hit it hard enough.
Ouch
What the.... MGM has an entire floral department!! A full, dedicated MGM floral design building at 3549 Sammy Davis Jr. Drive. For them to put fake flowers in Cosmopolitan is almost unfathomable. Wow.
They will do anything too save money , why are you surprised, dreadful company.
Stuff like this getting posted on social media is proof that at least some people do notice the small things.
Maybe gonna cut the floral dept. too.
Fake outrage over fake flowers.
@@Milestomemories whiny much?!!! man up , who gives a shit over some shitty flowed!
Oh geez, that sphere emoji melting made me so sad. It's such a fun visual though
They really do such a good job with those visuals. 😂

The Man sues escort story immediately made me think of the Ginger and Lester characters in the movie Casino
Lester was just misunderstood.
It’s a shame there wasn’t better infrastructure planning with the monorail. As you noted it could have been a big help to reduce traffic if they extended it to the airport. It could also help casino employees if they ran it out to a central parking area #wulffdendad Stay Cool Shawn !
I read something that said they didn’t extend to airport because at the time, taxi companies were against it.
@@Kphillip605 I am sure the taxi lobby killed it #wulffdendad
Another great video boys! Very high production value. You both remain the gold standard!

Thanks for watching & the kind words - glad you enjoy the show!
MGM is a corporation and the bottom line is all they think about, but then Caesar's Entertainment is worse because they don't want to keep their properties nice or improve them, e.g., Rio when they owned it, Caesars is living in the 1960's, Flamingo the 1970's/80's, etc.
Caesars is a sewer. MGM is tight and stingy, yet still far superior overall, IMO.

I hit up mirage last sunday and im glad because it wasn't a madhouse. Nice and busy, roulette wheel was paying out for me, but i had to make sure i had the chip count to still take home one of the last Mirage $1 chips!
Mirage really messed it up with their 💰giveaway, it’s just to chaotic.
I’m sure some of their regular customers were not having a good experience either. I think they’ll figure out a way to course correct. I know non-players were already being kicked off machines which is a good start.
Always blows my mind that someone in the room doesn't ask - is this a good idea? So many promos with obvious flaws.
Went to Mirage on Wednesday from noon-2p and was never able to get on a machine. A ton of campers on their phone with minimal credits and not spinning.
There was someone on CL selling spots. Lol
Haha wow.
Same - I went on Tuesday and there was no way anyone was moving, not even in high limit. I left and went to Fontainebleau and won some 😊
GO HAWKS!
Terrible
I could swear that two summers ago the airport canceled flights one day when it hit 122 F.
I was thinking the same thing...maybe it was Phoenix. But yea...I thought the same.
@@bmwlane8834oh no, it was here in Vegas.
Fake flowers in a high limit room is not good. As was said, the little things differentiate the experience.
I'm a daily watcher of Vegas Matt on CZcams. They always talk and laugh about the screen slappers and so sometimes they do it as a joke. Today they were playing a Buffalo game and every time they got the hold and spin, when it got down to about 5-6 spots left, Matt would touch each empty slot and then, with his finger, write a check mark on the buffalo head bonus game symbol, to bring it on. It was hilarious and they were all laughing about it.
I provide enough losses in the high limit room each year for the cosmo to afford fresh flowers daily
😂
Love the channel cant help notice the lack of Big Elvis coverage
He Big and he is Elvis ohhh man
Definitely need to give Big Elvis more love.
Elvis is super good over at Harrahs!!! I always make it there to see him when in Vegas.

Fake flowers are unacceptable
Fake flowers are just dust collectors.
Especially at a high end property like Cosmo. Senseless.
Maybe the heat wave is affecting the local flower gardens. I always assumed the big resorts had a local place to source flowers rather than shipping them in.
The screen toucher segment reminds me of my of a visit I had at the the Wynn. There was a lady slotting...smashing the button hitting the screen HARD and yelling at the machine for the 30 minutes I witnessed but she was there probably longer). I snagged a host on the floor to show him. He shrugged his shoulders and said 'Yeah, we let her do it because she's one of their best customers'. People around were smirking and getting up from the machines around her. It was ugly, but the almighty dollar speaks volumes. Craziness. I guess they'll let her break a machine since she already paid for it 100x over. 😄
Thanks Guys had a fun first time in Vegas at NYNY last week because of you’re information. Even though is was 111 average lol. Thanks again
Awesome - glad you had a great trip!

Ben Siegel wasn’t thinking about the L V weather when he founded The Strip
People need to suck it up it's summer in Vegas. I dealt with it for 23 years people moving out of State.
Totally. You’re in the desert. Pucker up buttercup
I’ve lived here for 31! Love the weather most of the year so I just need to remember that during the summer. I do think these temps might drive some of the recent transplants away.
We were there in July 2007 and it was, like 110. At night, though, it cooled off to 95.
@@Milestomemories - We love the 1-2 weeks of spring and the several days of fall in Vegas. Great times.
If the Hard Rock can't handle this what faith can we have that they can handle anything else. It is crime that the Mirage has to be sacrificed so these idiots can try to play with the big boys.

I'll be in town at Park MGM on Thursday 7/18. Love your content and hope e can catch up at some point!

Spot on MGM has destroyed the only Good old Casino left in Atlantic City, NEW Hard Rock and Ocean do not count... Since the take over all little things like you both pointed out is sooo evident in AC ,2 much to email... so sad... Great Job Boys
Original Horseshoe is in downtown known as Binion’s Horseshoe from 1951 to 2004. Current Horseshoe is on the strip of the former Bally’s site. Original MGM Grand is currently Horseshoe. The current MGM Grand is on the former Marina site.
I love MGM, but I was told that they are cutting out the birthday bonus freeplay.
Also, why not rent or buy 2 or 3 money grabbing machines. Get a ticket for every 500 points and randomly pick individuals to get as much cash in 1 minute. That's always fun 😁.
Yeah that was another cut recently. Sad.
Definitely cut it out… I had checked my email this past two months like I was waiting for an EX! To call me or something. My birthday is in July and I always got extra Freeplay… such a shame they cut that out
@butterbrown100 my casino host is the one that told me, "No Mas"! Sad 😢
i'm going next week from phoenix can't wait for the cool 110 degree weather!!!!!!
Haha
Cosmo recently started having the cookies again. I haven’t seen them since before covid. So they brought back the cookies, but replaced flowers.
Another excellent vid !
My first trip to Vegas july/aug 1975 was 115 everyday. The Landmark hotel used to have big digital sign on the roof alternating between time & temp. One day it hit 118 & the sign broke !! They say it never hit 118 - maybe at the airport. Have enjoyed more than 100 nights in Vegas but never again in summer. Last trip was the end of may 90/95 & low humidity was comfortable.
I really love April and October but May is great for some comfortable pool time.
The monorail is an awesome way to get around on the strip. So much easier than Uber or a CAB and it’s cheap. Let’s hope they keep it and expand it to the new stadium.
The monorail is the coolest part of transportation in Vegas !!
(Monorail) I would have used it from the airport!!! Always thought Vegas could use public trans from LAS. Now bring on the gondolas!
It was a Lurker convention at Mirage.
Kinda had to lurk if you couldn't get on a machine
Waiting for MGM to jack up the price for fountain view rooms
When I went to Japan in the early 90’s, the Pachinko parlors were so loud, I needed hearing protection just being in the room. Extremely loud!
Been coming to LV for years but we just tuned into the monorail program.
We dig it when we need to reach The Flamingo, Sphere or The Westgate area. The Linq station is tough to find…especially late night. Always seem to get twisted around on that one.
Only $6 each way.
Some of them are tough to track down for sure.
Shawn, I think the biggest issue with the monorail (which I love!) was the fact that someone built it to make a profit. It was never a true public works project, even though the public funded it. If it was a real PW project, it would have been upgraded, expanded, and run for another 50 years. I'll weigh in on the plastic flowers...I do think that it is a big deal because it is a sign of the changing corporate culture of the Cosmo. Check back in two years and see how bad the Cosmo will become.
Great as always. Can we get an update of the trop tear down
I do tap when I want something to show up. I know it doesn't make any sense but I do it anyway.
You’re definitely not alone! I think it can be fun as long as it doesn’t get out of control, but then again even if it does who cares what I think as long as you are having fun!
There is a slot machine where you can hit the screen to grab the cash, it’s so much fun.
Congratulations on 50,000 MTM🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! 🙏

We need Vegas odds on how many times Mark says “ cool”. (Over 5 -110) (Under 5 - +110)
Crazy with the strip hotels, Clark Co can't put a visitors tax to pay for a decent mass transit system from the LAS to hotels to convention center.
It all goes to the stadiums.
I’ll be in town this coming Monday, so I think my friend and I will head down to the Mirage on the 16th, just to check it out. 😃
Good luck & have a great trip!
@@markostermann6632, thanks Mark! 😄
108 to 118 is a DRASTIC difference. 108 feels tolerable for me, 118 feels like an oven. But there’s still hoards of people walking the strip. I dunno how they do it.
Hey you two, watching your video as I type this!
Wanna keep the Monorail 🚝 alive? Start by painting the tracks. They ugly, dirty, cracked and sitting under them at traffic is depressing. Wish they would do like other cities and make each pillar that is visible to traffic a custom mural that reflects local culture and the rest just get a nice desert paint color.
Thanks for the tip about Japanese “gambling” machines being here. I’m curious. I know they do it as a loop hole to get around the Japan gambling law with just extra steps for turning balls into cash outside of the venue. It would be like if you had to cash your poker chips at an office outside of the casino, on the backside.
That is a great idea. We have more and more public art around town so maybe they’ll eventually do that. Would definitely make things nicer along Paradise!
Wow, that poor guy was riding B in his own slot machine chair.
It always gets hotter when you put down miles and miles of highways and asphalt roads🤣 keep growing the population and building roads.
True. And more humid as we have added more pools.
@@Milestomemories And everyone running AC like crazy. The blanket of carbon produced mutes the cooling of the city in the evening and overnight hours. It's a vicious and worsening cycle. 😪
I saw that the Mirage closed down the aquarium behind the front desk and just covered it with some black curtains. Why couldn’t they leave it open for all those people that came for the last time.
I’m guessing they found a new home for the fish and it had to do with timing. Definitely not a good look.
The monoorail are fun but they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay in the back of the casinos not conveient at all to use
Would have been great to run it along the middle of the strip etc. somehow.
My favorite lucky slot machine move is to walk away
Better bring some Lysol to clean the machine
Turn the Primm mall into an urban paintball experience. I think it would do well. Air conditioned for comfort in the desert.
Another Area 15, but I doubt enough go to even sustain nevermind turn a profit.
Perfect setup for it!
Cosmo customers should also watch out for more of those sneaky "franchise fees" that some Vegas restaurants impose. It's not unique to MGM properties (like Kumi at MB), and if you spot it, they'll take it off. I suspect most customers don't spot it, so it's just another way to chisel a few extra $ from the unsuspecting tourists.
Pachinko doesn’t have a skill element. It’s almost identical to the casino claw machines. Old pachinko machines did have skill, but now it’s all driven by an RNG
There's a little skill, because each ball you get into the tiny trigger hole gives you a spin and additional balls. Some will get in there randomly, but it's the difference between 4 in 100 or 25 in 100.
Also, you cash the balls in for a "prize" of gold chips encased in Lucite. You take the gold chips around the corner to a TUC shop, and they give you cash for the gold.
Source: Me, because I freaking love Pachinko!
Interesting! I have seen the parlors in Japan but have always been with a kid so never really looked much into it. Thanks for the info. I wonder why more casinos haven’t tried them here.
I just got back from a 3 night stay at Cosmo, and here are some of the things I noticed had changed since my previous stay in February:
- drink service was noticeably slow, even when casino was not busy at all (i.e. less waitresses.)
- Many popular slot machines were slightly moved to different locations; Some now have higher minimum bets (higher minimum denoms). We also suspect the payout percentages were reduced on the "relocated" machines -- perfect sneaky opportunity for MGM.
- The Cosmo smell, their longtime perfume has changed. The new one is probably cheaper.
Big companies don't reinvest or even spend what's needed to keep things up to date period. Little different situation but comparable how these huge media/communication companies making billions but yet don't invest in security to keep our data relatively safe. Always always about profit.
It was super convening using the monorail running the Las Vegas Marathon. The first time doing it I felt awkward being in all my running gear with my number pinned to my running shirt. I was the only person taking the monorail to the start-line. The last time I ran it in 2017 I had to stand because it was that crowded with runners(it was a couple months after the Mandalay Bay shooting). The finish line of the marathon was close to the Linq, the start-line at Mandalay Bay. Me Mr smarty pants realized park at the Linq, take the monorail to near the start at MGM walk to Mandalay Bay. At the end of the race just walk (hobble) back to my Jeep. After a couple years of doing this the monorail became packed with runners. It actually became super fun to be with my running sisters and brethen riding the packed monorail to the MGM. I ran the first Vegas marathon with the start at Mandalay Bay. I parked there, but after the race it took me three hours to “drive” back to the Hard Rock hotel(no exaggeration). Most of that three hours I was stuck in front of Mandalay Bay with cars in front and back unable to move. That first was very unorganized. Regardless of being more organized or not I decided to take the monorail. I’ve ran 14 full 26.2 mile marathons, 5 being in Las Vegas( Vegas becoming the most fun duh).
Carpet hoodie ???
What if you drink too much and are laying on the floor ???
( no one will find me .)
Haha. I’m sure it would happen often.
I as a visitor knew the monorail wasn't going to the airport. That would get into some pockets.. I always liked and used it.
I don't tap or smack the machine, but I do have to tickle the buffalo under the chin 😂and ask him to be nice. I also say "hello wolfie" to the wolf in Huff and Puff. Going to be there from Ontario Canada next week. Venetian has started their renovations, Prestige Club lounge and top floor suites on the Venetian side are closed. We had a call and have been moved over to the Palazzo side.
Haha I love it!
I got pulled over by a cop out in the middle of the desert heading to Death Valley. I was going 65mph in a 55mph because in the middle of nowhere California drops the speed limit down after you've driven hundreds of miles at 65mph... lol! Anyway, the police officer said it was 118 on his car gauge. It was HOT, but not suffocating because of the lack of humidity.
Also, I'm from Arkansas so, that story about the sucker and the hooker was the least surprising thing you've ever retold. LOLOL
Somebody ought to convert Prim into a "condo community."
Yes a work/live project in Primm
Went to Mirage a couple of days ago, and it was crazy. There was usually 2 people per slot machine, that way they could take turn if someone had to leave. Got video of the Atrium and the volcano. The fish tank was covered already though.
No,never do I touch the screen or buttons unless I have to! Before Covid I used to bring my own Clorox wipes to the casino and on planes and I loved it that they were in the casino.
FAST TAP is the Only way to WIN!
🔥
I like to burst people’s bubble when I see them touching, kissing or whatever to the screen while in a bonus and just tell them , it’s ALL PREDETERMINED, it doesn’t matter what you do to it . I don’t touch anything on the screen while in a bonus round.
Japan’s pachinko parlors also have slot machines. The Japanese pachinko slot machines (“pachi suro”) are different from Vegas slot machines because the player has to push buttons under each reel to stop it.
I played Pachinko in Japan but was shoed away, told they were for little old ladies!
Whenever I hear knocking on the slots I just say in a snide voice “C’mon in, the door’s open!” But seeing that person really slapping the heck out of a slot… it should have a TILT function like pinball games; if you abuse the machine it TILTS and you lose your money. In this case, it should still allow a person to cash out credits, but the machine should RESET and credits played are lost. It should stop the abusers!
You can buy casino style carpeting from carpet stores. My local tribal casino replaces their carpeting every few years, changing the style every time.
The Mirage gives away different amounts each day. One day the VegasMatt off-camera guys were trying to win $43,000 each hour, they were playing the machines and one hit $67,000 on Buffalo. Neither got free cash though.
I give the slot machine the ol' Hawk Tuah.....and spit that thang for a bonus!!! lmao!
Haha. Great strategy!
😂😂
You mentioned in the video that when Tropicana closed there was no incentive to do a promo with their slot machines due to there not being being other casinos where you could go to get rewards. While that is true for the Las Vegas area, Balley’s owns many other casino properties in other states just like MGM or Caesars. I guess they didn’t think that customers in Las Vegas would not visit their other casinos. I also feel the monorail is useful but it defiantly would have been better had it both served the Airport and ran right down the strip in the middle with stations at most casino locations. I guess because it was privately developed as a means to connect certain casinos is why it is not as useful as it could be. As for the future if the monorail is to end it’s time for Las Vegas to develop a true mass transit system. A light rail line connecting both the Airport and the by then running the high speed train line station and then a dedicated transit lane down the strip to serve the casinos along the way. Also being light rail they could incorporate branch lines latter to serve other areas including larger suburban attractions, shopping, and hospitals and educational centers. With the high temperatures you are experiencing ,Las Vegas needs a fast air conditioned transit system if they expect customers to go places during the day.
The progressives need to be moved within Nevada as far as it has been explained to me. Bally’s has a property in Lake Tahoe so my guess is that is how they did it.
I see they put fresh flowers in the sky tower in aria why wouldn't they do this at Cosmo. Weird
Maybe they just ran out.
@@Milestomemories touché!
I’ve said it before, but I think that the UFC needs to buy all of Primm and make it into a UFC island in the desert. They could put UFC exhibits, training camps out there. Buffalo Bills has an arena that they could expand to host UFC events. A lot of UFC fans are off-road/camping fans-so they accommodate that. Between Primm Valley Hotel, Whiskey Petes, Buffalo Bills--they could accommodate a lot of fans, the media, the actual fighters and their teams. Also-even when the UFC has big events that are not in Vegas-I could see lots of people going out there for viewing parties.etc. The fertita’s know how to run resorts/casinos-so I think they could make it work and make it hugely profitable.
And it would only be about 25 minutes from Spiegel’s circus town!
A good idea!
Pachinko machines in Japan give you tokens you have to take to a separate location to convert to cash. House keeps around 20%.
I stopped in Primm in April because I wanted to see the art in the mall and charge my rented Tesla after doing a drive out to Tecopa and down to Baker. I got there at 6pm, which is exactly when it closes, so I couldn't walk around. Such a bummer! The casino itself was probably the saddest I've ever seen. Empty, aside from one lady slapping away at a random slot machine, complete with the tether on her players card. At least I got to charge the car, lol.

Cosmo also stopped serving grand marnier with floor drinks unless you are platinum. Another cheap move.
That one does not surprise me in the least.
They took away the high limit snack mix too a while back, when they did that I knew the nice small touches were going away (like mouthwash in the rooms)
is the Las Vegas trip ever going to open a Super Walmart? That would be a great addition!! that would be better than replacing the Mirage with a stupid guitar.
Interesting that Walmart hasn’t tried to move in.
Love the show. More fun MGM changes to top tier status members- no longer giving cash as the travel benefit.

I remember when the Monorail opened. It made zero sense that the MGM-LAS portion wasn't funded. I wondered why they put the turn around/return at MGM at the time. Hmm... Was it ever going to go to the airport?
The airport where they are measuring the temp has lighter colored ground. The black asphalted areas definitely feel hotter.
"Exiting New Changes to Your Cosmo High Limit Experience!"
The only surprise is that they didn't replace the fresh flowers with an Audrey 2 from "Littlr Shop of Horrors," demanding that the customers "feed me!"
Think the livery (cabbies and shuttles) are going to allow for the monorail to go to/fro McCarran (sorry Harry Reid)?
Golf is done starting just aster sunrise.
MARK!!!! Morning walking in the mall IS a thing out here!! I was walking in the mall here in Laughlin mornings and now those c*** ****ers turned off the AC!!!!!!! Only about 5 stores left so I guess it was inevitable, but still.
Yikes - I would be pissed if I was paying rent and they turned off AC for my customers.
@@markostermann6632 ya no kidding! In the stores they have these large portable blowers and now Famous Footwear closes when it reaches 80 in the store.
Time to bulldoze it and build condos.
That mall story sounds like the shopping mall pier that Caesars owns in AC
That place is sad. First time I visited there were still shops including the Apple Store and the next time almost nothing was left.
Laughlin River Lodge in has/had a pachinko room on their lower level. I was disappointed to see it was closed when I visited. It makes sense as it's also affiliated with Dotty's.
Crazy I have never seen it. Maybe because it was closed. Those two casinos (Laughlin and Hoover Dam) are so much alike. Kind of like giant Dotty’s locations I suppose but I love the small themed casinos.

I believe in order to get a AAA Four or Five Diamond rating, you need to have fresh flowers. I know Five Diamond for sure, but not sure about Four. I guess MGM dgaf about their diamond rating. The machine’s not gonna pay you out if you’re hitting it. You gotta be nice to it. 😂
Good thing there will be Hard Rock on the strip
I love riding the monorail especially when I've got a few drinks in me, but I think 6 bucks for a one way ride is a little too pricey, some people maybe allergic to fresh flowers I know Lilly's give me a massive headache
It's nice they have kept the $1 locals deal around, but I agree it is expensive for what it is, especially considering the location.

Carl Icann has ties to the Primm Mall and its downfall. Loved the Neimans and William Sanoma there. Sad.
Hey I’ve seen other videos that have shown a crane at the Palazzo? What are they doing over there ? Also I’ve heard in the past that there was a chance that Excalibur would close . That was a while ago but was wondering if there was any talk about that or maybe even Circus Circus? Anything on those properties? Love the info that you guys give us. Thank you .
Haven't heard anything on any other places closing. The crane has been sitting there since they stopped working on the expansion forever ago - no one knows why it just continues to sit there.
