    “Corry Family”
    Season 8, Episode 2
    The Corry's are a military family struggling to discipline their four daughters. While Ben, the father, is away with the army for months at a time, Maria, the stay-at-home mom, is left dealing with their rambunctious children and navigating her post-partum depression. Will Nanny Jo be able to dive into the trenches and rescue this family?
    Drawing on 30 years of professional experience, Jo is back to help stressed-out parents tackle social and behavioral challenges as well as new issues faced by modern-day families. With a recipe of honest, direct and nurturing support, Jo offers real-life solutions to parents - uplifting families with advice, techniques, and tips to iron out the chaos in their lives, helping families evolve. The families featured this season are from cities and towns around the country, including Phenix City, AL; Spokane, WA; Makaha, HI; Corona, CA; Mesa, AZ; Cortlandt Manor, NY; Gilbert, AZ; and more. Each of the families are dealing with diverse issues that span the spectrum of parenting challenges - from dealing with postpartum depression, ADHD, kids obsessed with electronic devices, blended families struggling with children acting out, military and first responder spouses facing separations - to parents buried in their phones and more. Jo will visit one new family each week and use her trusted and proven methods and elevated teachings to help them change their dynamics while focusing on positive reinforcement and connectivity.

Instead of pointing fingers and assuming everything is fine. The spanking thing is sad, I agree. Some parents need to realize the cycle they create depending on their methods. Respect through fear is one massive contradiction, and extremely dysfunctional if done in excess.

If you watch the whole episode, she's nearly almost always on the verge of a break down. I understand that it's the life she wanted, but it seems like (from observation) that she's in over her head. I hope she gets the help she desperately needs.

      En Sabah Nur Are you kidding? I think your 20’s should be about growing, learning, working, dating, traveling, exploring, having fun, becoming self sufficient, finding out who you truly are. You have your whole life to settle down. What’s the rush? I got married when I was 30, had my 2 kids in my 30’s, and even that was way too soon for me. Why these clueless parents have an insane number of kids so close together in age is my big question. It is a recipe for disaster for kids and parents.

    • @lessehead
      @lessehead Před 4 lety +6

      En Sabah Nur and look at how unhappy she was with her choices. My kids are almost 31 and 35, both single and loving it, because they know there’s no rush. They never want kids,
      travel all over the world, have lived in different countries, love their jobs that require extensive travel, and have experiences that they never would be able to have if they were saddled with spouses and kids. You have to do what’s right for you, and most people now recognize that early marriage is not in their best interest, with the age of marriage continually rising and more and more people choosing to stay single for life.

    Spanking just shows the lack of patience that a parent has for a child. Instead of figuring out what made them cry they get angry at the fact that their children are displaying HUMAN emotions. Your children aren’t animals. They have the right to feel and not be disciplined for it.

      discipline is important- the mother doesn't discipline at all and they treat her like dirt. Children are not meant to like the discipline either. You’re absolutely right. Spanking is not effective at all and it only teaches children that violence is the way to solve challenging situations. I myself received it as a child, I have reflected on it many times and did it teach me anything useful? No, it just taught me violence, which is not necessary. I appreciate why people do it, because there’s this long-standing belief that spanking is the way to effectively discipline people. More than 60 countries have made it a criminal offence to spank children, but the trouble with some countries that will not ban it, is they think it’s a parents right to discipline how they choose, even though it may not be right and if they did ban it, they’d get a lot of grief for it.

    I love seeing the comments of people criticizing them for having kids and spanking. Being a parent is so tough, you get no manual on how to do it, it is a day by day thing. Everyday you get pushed to your limits. People need to stop criticizing so dang much and respect the fact they were willing to learn and change for the better.

    Gorgeous family. Mom seems to be such a sweet lady. Its nice that Supernanny helped her with reaching out to meet other moms in the full episode. My husband worked in oilfields & was away months at a time when my children were preschool ages and I don't know how I would have managed without my galpals in the neighborhood. Also I found that my children having friends over made them better behaved. Mom definitely needs to start putting the coffee on each morning for visits.

    Why do parents hit their kids? It’s cruel if I ever hit my kid it would be like punching myself because kids don’t need hitting for being naughty they need a talk to learn that’s wrong

    • @MsJubjubbird
      @MsJubjubbird Před 3 lety +2

      Well this dad says the old "I was spanked and I turned out fine" argument. It stems from the day when parenting and teching was more authoritarian. But even now it's a quick form of discipline requiring little follow through or self control I guess. Putting a child on the naughty step, cancelling a playdate, sending them to bed or confiscating their phone or a toy takes more time and persistence and requires self control and to remain calm- all which takes more effort. To me spanking is a loss of self control and teaches children that you can show your authority and resolve problems with violence. Plus it's confusing- you're trying to teach them not to hit others but then you hit them yourself.

    • @cloudydxayss2394

    • @MsJubjubbird
      @MsJubjubbird Před 3 lety +1

      @@cloudydxayss2394 but a good talk has no consequences. Kids need to learn about consequences. Not only because it teaches them what is appropriate behaviour and respect but also life is full of consequenes for your actions- so they have to start to learn to take responsibility for what they do early on.

    • @cloudydxayss2394
      @cloudydxayss2394 Před 3 lety +1

      @@MsJubjubbird but also spanking hurts it’s really hurts kids to me hitting doesn’t do anything it just hurts them, some kids end up with bruises of hitting it’s not that great for learning. I’m not gonna hut when I’m older because my kid will just need a lecturer I will keep on doing that and I will not hit them if they hit a kid my kid will go say sorry.

    • @MsJubjubbird
      @MsJubjubbird Před 3 lety +1

      @@cloudydxayss2394 I don't support spanking. But a talking to or a lecture is not enough. There are no consequences. Things like confiscating a toy for a time, social isolation (e.g. the Naughty Spot/Room), doing difficult chores, cancelling playdates or social outings, sending them to bed early or confiscating electronic devices are all effective punishments when used appropriately in terms of age of the child and severity of the misdemeanor. They all quire a lot of control and resilience on the part of the parent and the child learns that their actions and choices have consequences, as well as being deterred from making the wrong choices.

I was sobbing in bed after she spanked me on my buttocks with her right hand. After a while the pain eased but it was for my own good. Next morning she spoke to me and said you will get the same treatment again if you're caught misbehaving my advice to you is be good.
