The fire exits were half the size of those front doors so it wouldn't have helped much anyways. The club should've had sprinklers and proper safety precautions in place so when the fire itself started, it could've been put out almost immediately. It wasn't the bands fault, everyone was in a fight or flight mode and yelling at them wouldn't have helped.

    The club owners used non fired-rated packing foam for sound deadening, then spray-painted it with toxic paint. They provided NO clear exit markers, NO automated sprinkler system, and over-packed the club for extra profit. They also provided NO fire training for employees. Biechele set off the gerbs without permits, or training, and used outdoor rated fireworks inside a packed club. As a tour manager, he should have known that he needed permits and permissions too. Several club owners on the same road circuit testified that Biechele set off fireworks at their venues without asking for permissions too. Then there was the lazy pencil-whipping fire marshal 'Rocky' that didn't do his job. He didn't check the materials on the ceiling, didn't ask the employees questions and didn't review to ensure the club's capacity was correct. Lastly, there were the stupid bouncers who would not allow people to exit through the nearest door even though the fire was obviously very dangerous by that point.

Even after his lawyer told him to go to trial, he stood in court and said he was guilty. So the fireworks may have been a dick move, but at least the man seems to have a conscious. That’s more than I can say about anyone else responsible for the fire.

    • @jonraybon8582
      @jonraybon8582 Před 4 lety +1

      It wasn't his fault, but its a natural human reaction to blame the most visible person. It was the club owner's for allowing the pyro, knowing that the club was a tinderbox in violation of the fire code. I'm sure the club owner assured the band manager that it was safe, and showed him the fire marshal's certificate..so it was also the fire marshal's fault for just checking the boxes, but not really inspecting the club. Its not the band manager's responsibility to be a fire inspector, he should be able to trust the judgement of the man who gets paid to inspect buildings for dangerous conditions.

    Wait wait wait wait. There were 3 people to blame. Road managers Daniel for setting up the pyro's so close and even doing it in a tight space building. The building owners Micheal and Jeffrey. Who used the most highly flammable sound foam made out of polyurethane. Plus putting 462 people in a building only means to fit 250. They are the ones to blame. Great White band has nothing to do with this. They one thing they should have done though is tell everyone to exit safely and don't shove and fight.

    I just can't see how it's his fault? Whatever fool looked around in that club, and said it's safe to use pyrotechnics is more than likely to blame. Also the club owners for covering the walls and ceiling with highly flammable padding that produces deadly thick black smoke & releases cyanide gas when ignited, not having sprinkler systems installed, lack of proper emergency exits, and over crowding the club to sale more tickets.
    Jack could have said, "I'm sorry this happened" to the victims afterwards though.

    The size,age and furnishings are what fueled the fire and a flashback is what engulfed the building.
    And people were stampeding people to death !! People had time to get out at least the ones at the back,people up near the stage never had a fighting chance.there were three exits,if not ,see Windows break them out ! I think everyone played a role in that fire,people were standing around AFTER the fire started ! If I see any hint of flames I'm OUTTA there ,I'm certainly not going to stand around drinking my beer, I'm gone !

    It was common sense’s fault. 1. You never do pyro w/o the okay from a fire marshall, you also need a licensed tech on hand. 2. The ceiling itself was what, 12 feet high? The pyro should have been tested on height and width before they even used them at a show. 3. “I’m sorry, only the band can leave through this exit.” When there is a fucking fire. 4. The half ass lengths the owners went through to not keep the club up to date on fire codes (however there was a loop-hole in this as the building was built before the fire code regulations went into place so they were exempt.). It was just a total common sense failure on numerous individuals parts. You never do pyro indoors unless the ceiling is at least 40 feet in height and has absolutely nothing flammable anywhere near it. Horrible tragedy that never needed to happen.

    There are multiple factors regarding this fire. The club owners installed cheap foam on the walls and ceiling and it went up so fast. People only had 1.5 minutes to get out. Jack Russell didn't light the pyro. His tour manager was managing the pyro and he wasn't licensed. The fire marshall gave the club a clean bill of health and didn't notice the foam. There's so many more things happening here.

    Jack Russell really had a very small part to play in this tragedy, but a lot of the survivors anger at him seems to stem from how he handled himself after this fire. It was more of a perception of lack of remorse on his part than really and true culpability he actually had.
    The three pain parties most responsible for this are the two club owners and the Fire Marshall. All three acted so egregiously and willfully negligent leading up to this fire that is a damn shame that they were not charged with murder instead of manslaughter. Of course the corrupt Marshal didn't face any charges (surprise surprise) and the owners were charged with involuntary manslaughter, but what they did was no different than when someone knowingly engages in a crime of forethought with the high likelihood of leading to death, even though though death was not intend. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MURDER!
    What those three did, makes Dan Biechele's act of physically starting the fire and Jack's asking permission to use fireworks pale in comparison.
