  • Lake Burrumbeet, south campground, is a scenic camp roughly 140 kilometres west of Melbourne and just 20 kilometres west of the historic gold mining town of Ballarat. The lake offers, boating, fishing and swimming with sweeping vistas of the surrounding countryside. There are toilets, picnic benches and undercover areas as well as a number of boat ramps. Whether you want to kick back at camp, take a walk along the shoreline or get out on the water this is the perfect place to get away for a few days. Lake Burrumbeet is a free camp and fires are permitted subject to the usual restrictions over summer. There is good phone reception at the camp. Dogs are allowed.

@@joll.4766 it’s a beautiful spot all right. The water still looks pretty good and there were a few anglers there but I don’t know what kind of luck they were having. Thanks for watching. ❤️

@@hilltopwoodworking Hi Ian. Thanks for watching. Maybe I should take a rod next time. Catching carp is better than catching nothing. Are there red fin in the lake that you know of?

@@strayaonwheels5690 thanks for the encouragement on the videos. mate. Yeah I’m still flying off the back of those GF wins. It was a long wait. If you haven’t been to Cork Oaks Campground (near Clunes) or Kendalls (near Alexandra) they’re both good. Especially Kendalls with the river. 2WD accessible. We’ve covered them both over the last 7 months or so.

@Hindsight_2020__1 it is a good place to Kayak but you need to be careful as it is shallow and can become choppy very quickly

@@guesswho1485 glad you like the videos. That camp was a Thursday-Friday. I’m told the camp gets very busy over summer. I imagine the Christmas Holidays would be packed. Hope you get to go and check it out yourself. It’s a great spot. Cheers.

Funny I auto confuse this with lake Purrumbete which is also a place I would like to check out sometime. What do they charge at Burrumbeet or is it a free camping spot?

@@petecabrina yes it’s a free camp and really worth the trip. I’ve had a few comments saying it is very busy over the summer which wouldn’t surprise me. It’s a beautiful spot.
