I can’t belt high either! As sad as it is not to be able to belt your heart out, it still makes me very sad actually, as a singer I’ve learned to strengthen my head voice to become more powerful and now I’m very proud of my vibrato and range , so don’t dream to be like other people! Work with what you have!! Go the both of you!!
I only sound good on high belts when I’m singing super loud. I can’t sing them quietly cause I sound super nasally cause I mix by pushing through my nose a lot so it puts less stress on my throat and I don’t sound so raspy. Projecting a lot is the main way I resonate and “support” my notes. I wish I could do a more pretty quiet belt but it sounds ugly. P.S. my technique probably isn’t good but it’s what works for me. It’s the ONLY way I can sustain the G#5 in Dead Girl Walking and even hit the A in the Reprise. 😂
I literally thought the same thing until this year! I couldn’t belt AT ALL. I’m not kidding. Like nothing. Because I didn’t know my placement, I didn’t know my own voice. I promise that if you keep practicing, and if you can afford voice lessons, do it! Just sing out in the car. At first when I would belt songs it didn’t sound good, and also I just couldn’t hit the notes, but day by day, it started sounding good :) obviously I’m still working on it, but I’ve been there. I thought I would never be able to belt, I could barely sing in my chest voice (I grew up trained as a soprano 1). Just practice every day! It took me about two years to be able to correctly belt. But I’m here now! :) ❤️ don’t over practice though haha! You can build up your range. Your voice is malleable.

Ugh, I hate how fast some of these performances are going. This is supposed to be an emotional love ballad. Slow down and savor it for god’s sake.
KuraBlue most of the time in productions they up the tempo, instead of having it like the cast albums. idk why they do it tho lol
It might be that the people when are playing Veronica and JD might not be able to hold and sustain their voices for that long so they might speed it up so they don’t run out of air. Especially for the high school and college productions of the show.
I think it's probably the tempo in the score, since it's not just one that's faster...

When they first hit tonight it's deliberately written as a discordant harmony and it resolves with Veronicas moving note at the ending. That could explain it sounding off although some were actually off in this compilation.

Barrett is hands down my favourite Veronica, but I think Carrie HF and Jamie Muscato's voices sound really well together.

I've only watched videos of them singing but out of all the Veronica's and JD's, they had the best pairing. I cannot stop listening to their studio recording of Seventeen.
Imo They had by far the best on stage relationship/acting as a couple as well, mainly as a result of the amazing choreography and Jamie’s take on JD as this wounded and abused boy, afraid of even being touched whilst still being a truly psychotic unhinged individual, that made it for me (not a slight to CHF but Jamie brought something that no one else did to JD…
Unfortunately they both got viral tonsillitis towards the end so the recordings don’t generally sound as good as they otherwise would (not the case here as this was filmed early in the production).
This pic may be controversial because people didn't like her portrayal of Veronica but her singing ability has never been questioned my favorite is Christina Bennington. Her drunken version of dead girl walking is absolutely perfect.

I think we can all agree that any with Barrett in are the best ones but I've got to admit i wasn't excepting my favourite to be Barrett and Dave, but the sounded the best I'm my opinion. But Carries is amazing!
Edit: Looking back at this I'm actually quite surprised how much I like Charissa's version! I've always loved her as Heather Chandler but had mixed feelings on her Veronica but seeing this definitely makes me realise why she got chosen as the Understudy for both roles.

Oh no, the audio quality of Stephen Madsen and Jaz Flowers did NOT do Stephen Madsen justice!! I’ve had the fortune to see him live a couple of times in a number of different musicals and he has a GORGEOUS voice. His rendition of Seventeen with Hilary Cole (in the 2016 Australian production of Heathers) was, to this day, one of the best I’ve ever heard! But I was still so glad to see him in the compilation 😊 love your channel!!

I think Thomas was a little flat because JD's part is a high tenor, and Thomas is a bass, so the note he hit was extremely impressive!
It’s because of his CZcams channel and his whole thing on vine. Plus, a lot of why he was flat was the recording and what type of singer is- it’s just a lot of people knows his background and we all love him. Honestly he’s an amazing actor and singer- this video just didn’t really do him justice. I’d suggest you check out his CZcams channel and you’ll see why we all love him 💕💕💕
