Very nice reaction! 👍 I am German and you made one of the best summeries of this video and it‘s meaning! You nailed it exactly! Bravo!👏 Greetings from Germany!
Thank you! I try to bring at least something when I react other than the typical "Cool tune bro!" I appreciate your comment! Welcome to my corner of CZcams!
One of the best, most intelligent reactions/comments to this brilliant video I've seen yet! (And there are a lot of them on CZcams). Big compliments! And as a quintessence, so fitting for the times we all live in, I guess you can say: there is always a madman trying to gum up people's brains with fear and insanity for profit (of whatever kind). "Wehret den Anfängen!!!" (Resist the beginnings!!!) Thank you for your reaction and much love from Germany!
Wow, thank you very much! I have always had a passion for music and it is good to see it is finally good for something! :-) 😊
Thank you very much for the compliment and comment!
Very nice and thoughtful. I am German. From our history, I know, that if you want to make one group of people fear another group, you have to separate them. Put them behind bobbed wire. Personal contact kills prejudices. This I would like to add to you theory of fear as a mechanism of ruling a country.
I agree completely. I am not sure if you are aware, but this country is no stranger to this - look up Manzanar when you have a moment. The big difference is that Germany teaches the lessons of your history. Here, they quietly sweep it under the mat, hoping no one will remember.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving your comment!
This song and especially the video is a masterpiece from Rammstein. In my opinion, this video should be watched and analyzed in the graduating classes of school. And yes, you should always watch music videos until the end, it's a matter of respect for the artists and the other employees on the shoot.
Did you notice what the band ate during the end credits? A sweet that was called "Negerkuss" in Germany, today it is called "Schokokuss".
I am unfamiliar with the sweet itself, but just from my VERY limited understanding of the basics, I think I get the meaning. Thank you for your comments, and I agree completely with what you were saying.
yeah same here in Denmark....the sweets was formerly called "negerbolle/negerkys)" (negro-bun/negro-kiss) but is now called "cream bun"
Who says CZcams is not educational?
In many languages they had similar names. Here in the Netherlands we called them "negerzoen" (negro-kiss), in France they called them "tête de nègre" (negro's head), in Spain "negrito" (little negro), in Brasil "teta de negra" (black woman's tit), etc. The company that makes them here claims the name change had nothing to do with racist connotations, but was purely for marketing reasons. It allowed them to make offshoots like "strawberry kiss", "vanilla kiss", etc in addition to what's now called "choco kiss". Either that's a lie (probably), or that was some genius marketing strategy because there was a lot of discussion about the name before it changed.
Awesome! I was hoping/waiting for you to react to more Rammstein ❤
Dankeschön 😊
There will be more. :-)
Thank you
It´s my favorite Song from Rammstein - Love everything about it....the Video, the Music and the Message behind it. Thanks for your Reaction to it :)
cant wait to see new rammstein songs and videos about the media, histeria, hate and witch hunt, this will be interesting
After what happen this year? It would be insane if they decided to go fully into mocking it.
Fear is evoluationary trait the survived for a reason
Black man actually means 'bogeyman' in this song.
I figured as much. Bigotry doesn't have to be race specific. Nor does prejudice. All they need is an "other" and feed on it just fine. Thank you for your comment!
The story of the black man actually refers to the black plague that takes you.
Translation English:
Exactly Arno, the template for the 'Black Man' in the German-speaking world definitely does not refer to colored contemporaries, but to the Black Death in the Middle Ages. He fetched quite a few back then, round about a third of the people in Europe...
hey, you´re just one year older than me. thanks for your very reflected mindset.
Greetings fellow Pentagenarian! You are welcome! I just felt it was time for a little different approach to reaction videos. LOL Thank you for stopping in and leaving your comment!
Hello from Germany, what i´m really appreciating in your reaction/commentary, is the space you have left for your viewers. The freedom of interpretation is, what makes this song to a masterpiece, imho. it´s (as usual) multilayered in meanings and visualizations.
If one looks a bit deeper into the lyrics and symbolics, one can find a nice mix of german AND american culture problems, not judging at all, more like showing us a mirror of our own community.
I see politicians/lawyers, lobbyists, social- and mass media, several victims, the money involved and in the very end: The way to break the wheel^^
Sure, the double meanings are mainly targeting the german language, but i also see suburbs, the B/W thing, the weapons...However, we can just replace the bogeyman, the black man, and other symbols with simliar ones, including phrases, all over the world. The concept is always the same, spread the fear, in order to gain power - the hard part is just, to find the right sacrificial lamb at the right time - BINGO!
Thank you very much for this comment. I understand and I agree completely. The complexity of your video like this is pretty profound and anything that I may offer I prefer to think of as a launching pad rather than a definition. Thank you very much for joining us on this journey.
A well educated reaction. 👍
Originally "black man" stands for a kind of bogeyman (or death) in German. There is an old catch and run children's game. One child is the "black man", starting with the phrase "Who's afraid of the black man?". The others answer "No one." ... "And when he comes?" ... "Then we run." The children run away and try to escape the "black man". When one is catched, it is the next "black man". I guess that's originated from medivial time when the plague (or "black death") killed half of the population of Europe. Infected people partly got a black skin and and children were told to stay away from them.
Nevertheless Rammstein is playing with the double meaning of "black man". Some politicians and media spread fear about refugees comming to Europe. And even though most of them are not black, they might look a bit different and give a trigger to xenophobia ... which those politicians try to use for their own goals. So "crazy" politicians (one of the two roles, Till plays in the video) and indifferent media just seeking for attention are a dangerous combination. (That is at least my interpretation.)
Their usage and imagery gave me that impression. The end hammered the latter part of your comment home. It is interesting to see the art as it is revealed. I think that this video, a glass of dry white wine and a viewing of "V for Vendetta" would do a world of food to some people. :-)
Thank you for your comment!
Great interpretation and reaction!
Thank you!
greetings and love from Cologne, Germany again....I couldn´t agree more with my colleague.@thorstenkrieger6289.... Great reaction.... All I can say is that I don't understand the over-patriotic Americans and their affinity for guns at all. But woe betide a school shooting or a child who shoots another with father's 45 magnum, then the whining is great. And the fact that you recognized the "Black Man" as a metaphor says a lot about you, respect. have a peaceful day, buddy...stay safe
Thank you very much for the kind words. I had heard the metaphorical usage before and I believe that Rammstein looks to disturb and provoke than to offend. It made sense for it to be used metaphorically as a projection of the "other". People do not hate people - they hate "other people", so THAT must be fed to the populace in spoonfuls like arsenic until it poisons the entire society, yet leaving them unaware of the causality. Thank you for your comment!
Zombie Cheerleaders! What's not to like? hehe
Agreed! Thank you for stopping in to check it out!
Loved your reaction, your analysis and thoughts. One thing shown in the video how it is neighbor turning against neighbor and not only against immigrants, or poor, or homeless or what ever. We do not see the person behind the stereotype anymore.
And sadly Germany, like so many European countries as of late, is becoming more and more populistic and drifts to the right, thus will n8t be able to fullfill the promise Germans gave to themselves: this shall never happen again, nowhere.
👍❤
So it is art and art don´t has to be explained by it´s creator, your free to take and see it how ever you like. So I´m a huge Michael Moore fan and I love "Bowling for Columbine" - it´s a bit funny that every american reacting to that video doesn´t take the word black man literaly - while it´s a german group and they just do bowling for columbine for the secound time: of course it is about the "refugee crises" 2015.
Great reaction to one of my favourite Rammstein songs. Thank you!
There is only one point you get wrong, considering the German history of the fourties. People could not arm themselves, and neither did the government arm them. The Nazi government took away the right from the citizens to do so. That government stirred up fear in order to convince the citizens to hand over all rights to do whatever was claimed to be necessary to the government. That is how a dictatorship works. Your 2nd Amendment protects you from that. We don't have that protection ever since. We have to rely on a government that claims monopoly of violence. In a democracy the first responsibility of the citizen is to control the government, to be critical and suspcious towards the government. But how to take action when the government gives you reason and they hold the monopoly of violence? A democracy in which the citizens are not allowed to arm themselves is fake. It's a disguised totalitarian system.
Thank you for your comment and your insights!

I keep a box cutter in my pocket because I am a blue collar worker. I wear the same pants everyday. I go to Walmart on the way home sometimes.

I think?
@@ThePentagenarian What is a weapon and what is a threat? Just inviting thoughts outside of "Everyday Established" patterns, such as the heresy that your "doxy" might not be another person's. So you don't have to look it up, a prominent person was asked about his thoughts on orthodoxy. Doxy is eurotrash slang for a whore.
My thoughts are as follows...1st I believe strongly in the 2nd ! 2nd it seems to me that the world is fearful these days because of governments! and lastly thanks for a thought provoking reaction
No arguments. It is why I merely stated facts and let people know what they are. I don't like to say "good" or "bad", just "Here ya go!" :-) 😜
And now you have to live with it! All the violence😢in your country
@@arnodobler1096 you are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. I am very thankful I have a right to own them and I will never part with them

translate is wrong, its not balck man its abaut boogi man :)
I find it kinda sad Rammstein went from "proletariat techno" to "make fun of americans".
Read through some of the analysis of this song. There are many VERY German themes. Why do many Americans assume immediately that what they are singing about is making fun of the US? There is a folklore villain, similar to what we may call the "Bogeyman" named the "Black Man". This has more to do with people having their fears fed and manipulated than any one single country.
