      Hi:) No problem. I just uploaded the Awesome Stabilizer 2.0 to the Steam workshop. It doesn't have the twin set of heli engines, just a single set connected to the angle sensors. The speed sensors or other control functions can be added where, when and IF they are even needed on Your build:) Hope it helps!

    Part of me wishes I had discovered this video back when I first started building drones, but the other part of me really enjoyed learning how to build stabilized platforms on my own. I made a drone for high seas that corrects for roll, pitch, and yaw. It uses compasses for the yaw. I never thought to use always running helicopter motors for gyro stabilization. I'm going to create the ultimate high seas cargo retriever

    this is really impressive and helpful... I'm trying to design a sort of top heavy vtol gunship but need a shit to of hover stability at altitude and gimbals seem to be a bit to twitchy for the hovering... however I didn't think or realise you could use them with negative thrust to pull myself downwards..

  • @ExcelsiorsDomain
    @ExcelsiorsDomain Před 2 lety +1

    Just to add my thanks for this, I'm trying to build a very heavy spaceship and just figured out helicopter engines to pull her nose up. Lift is a major issue because I'm trying to keep it looking correct. If I can add in some of your techniques on top I should be able to wrangle it into shape...

    I put servos under the angle sensors to tilt the vehicle. Put the speed sensor into a xor and 2 and gates with (down key two makes the gate shut off completely) as well then put the xor into the jet. I usually put one of the and gate with 0.10 to give the trusters so you dont tumble. This turns off the thrusters.

    i was wondering what's the thinking behind making such a stabilizer, why do constantly spinning helicopter engines stabilize the craft. How does constant torque do that if it gets countered by the helicopter engine on the other side?

    • @ThatDomGuy
      @ThatDomGuy  Před 8 měsíci +1

      It makes for smoother, more controlled movements. It requires more force to over come the torque, so it prevents drifting on the axis that have the torque applied. It's also useful for directional or rotational changes. By changing the output to a specific helicopter engine on one side, you create counter force in the opposite direction.

    Love your videos. I'm hoping you can help me out though I know it's hard not seeing the build. But basically I'm making a vtol that's shape kind of like a cleon ship meets a quetip. For some reason, when I have the gyro on, it works great, but if I lean to one side or another, the whole build wants to lay on its side or flip. It's not really top heavy. It is semi long. Has 3 gyros without angle stabilizing. Just the basic gyros. Again, works great until I lean or turn. Wondering what the issue may be. I'm on xbox. But if there's a way you can maybe help or suggest some possible solutions, that'll be great. Oh and I even have hover engines have way up the build to reduce flipping.

    • @ThatDomGuy
      @ThatDomGuy  Před rokem +2

      It's probably just too much weight for the basic gyros. Try adding a couple angle sensors and connecting them to your middle gyro.

    • @SirPhoenixTheDon
      @SirPhoenixTheDon Před rokem +2

      @@ThatDomGuy so I actually added a 4th gyro. I have 2 in the rear side by side. But I notice what my issue was. I didn't know you couldn't connect anything to the top part of the heli engine as well. I figured as long as the rotary can spin freely it should be good. But that wasn't the case at all lol. But yeah I finally have it as stable as it can be without angle sensors. Now that I have that worked out, I'm going to play around with the angle sensors and figure out how to make those work lol.

    do you have a link to the workshop to get the Awesome Stabilizer 2.0 i don't find it

  • @Someone-ho1ls
    @Someone-ho1ls Před 2 lety +3

    You could have made the stabiliser smaller by setting the angle sensors output to -1 and connecting them to the opposite helicopter engine to stop it so the only one that spins is the good one. -> (for one axis so x2) It will reduce the size of the stabilizer from 8 x 8 x 2 to 6 x 6 x 2.

    • @ThatDomGuy
      @ThatDomGuy  Před 2 lety +2

      I prefer to keep one set spinning at all times at 10 speed, then use another set for angle correction. That way you have a second set to manipulate settings on. It is totally possible to do it with just 1 set as well:) thanks for watching:)

    • @ThatDomGuy

    • @ThatDomGuy
