In this weeks video we share our rigging disaster and how we could have lost our rig at any moment. Luckily, we spotted the issue after making a series of mistakes and we have learnt some valuable lessons!
We also share our thoughts on the survey we had before buying Takaza and how you should trust your gut instincts.

We started our adventure in summer when we made the decision to leave our jobs and move aboard our 28ft boat. We finally set sail north in September, but were delayed by a series of issues. Now back on track, we are cruising the North East coast of England. Join us as we share our experiences of sailing and living aboard our small boat.

Great video! So glad you've managed to sort out the issues you found, and that you'll have a happy and safe sailing year. I guess all of the work is a good investment in Takaza. Have a great sailing year guys! x

Thanks you, glad you found it useful. We are so glad its all sorted now and that we have had a full rig check done. The swan pretty much lives with now, 🤣 he leaves his wife on the nest while he goes frolicking around the marina!

Lovely videos boys.. Gavin and the swan stole the show.. the Captain should be whipped in the most unpleasant way for the maintenance issues 😅😅
Just remember boys..you have nothing to proove to anyone!! You do what makes you happy and don't set yourselves huge goals.. we stopped that long time ago! 😅 Well done .. sending mucho love

Thanks so much guys and glad you enjoyed. We feel like we are getting there now with the boat, we didn't realise there was so much to do when we bought it and its been a huge learning curve for us both. I think Captain Tom needs to run some maintenance courses for me! 🤣 We feel alot more relaxed now about our plans now we have taken the pressure of. Mucho love to you boys too! 🙂

Another brill video lads! Know exactly what you mean about the feeling you get about certain parts and systems of the boat don’t seem or look right! We have a growing list of problems and whilst we’ve had some good wins and managed to sort out a few of the things ourselves, some of the things are way out of our comfort zone. I’ve had more than a few restless nights now thinking about it and can’t wait to get them sorted. It’s great to be moored somewhere for a while as you can get tradespeople to the boat to help, unfortunately as we’re on the move, getting anyone over to help is proving impossible! As you mention, it’s about mindset and once you can get focused on the good, the bad doesn’t seem as extreme. That said, we’d love a bloody marine electrician about now! Fair winds to you both!

Hi guys, sorry only just seen your message , it had gone through to the the 'Held for review' box for some reason. Glad you enjoyed the video! We are really enjoying watching your videos too, you are both doing a great job with them! You will get there with your boat so don't let it get you down. I think any boat you buy, no matter how new or old will have things that need fixing. It is a massive learning curve, just do bit by bit. Where are you both now?

@@gavin_and_james_sailingWe're in Milford Haven... Which I'm counting as our first international passage! It was also our first night sail as we arrived in the marina at 2 am. 💤 - Faye x
