It’s very nice that you don’t judge. My friend rescued a poodle from the shelter and she was matted and my friend brought her to the groomer asap. You never know what the dogs situation is wether it’s own by an older person who can’t take them to the groomer or whatever it might be
Right I rescued a dog from my brother who severely neglected and abused the dog including starving him and the vet and groomers tore into me despite them having his records knowing my brother was the one who brought him in for his rabies shots. I was literally crying when i brought him in so upset. I spent over 3k getting him back to health I didn't have because he was such a good boy he didn't deserve that. He's a happy healthy 6 yr old dog now.
We have recently aquired a doodle in bad shape too .all matted up fur . Since we cant get a groomer till about 3 weeks out we are going to have to tackle this ourselves .this video helped us out a lot . Thank you for what you do 😊
Great video! Thank you! My doodle was groomed regularly - she was on a 5 week schedule, but we lost our groomer and they kept leading us on with a new groomer……yet no call. Our doodle’s chat got away from us and I felt awful!!!!! First, thank you for not shaming and secondly, thank you for the information. I can’t find another groomer so I bought andis clippers and I needed this video for a great how-to. My puppy’s face, neck, and tail are ok. Tomorrow, I will tackle her body.
Be careful and good luck to you. A lot of places have started not taking in Doodles and right now it’s our buzy season so keep looking! The right person will show up for you!
What a gorgeous job on this dog! I learned a lot of interesting tips too, watching this video. I feel so bad for dogs like this, but like you said, who knows the circumstances that led to this. I have had poodles all my life and love them so much. Every two months to groomer and touch ups by me in between.
Thing is with the “golden doodle” you got the curly hair of the poodle and the double coat of the Golden Retriever. I only have experience in grooming Golden Retriever and Cockers, the breeds I have owned (or they owned me). I couldn’t afford to be taking my dog in for grooming and I found that it was good bonding time so I groomed my own and I volunteered a couple times at the SPCA years ago and groomed a couple of their longer hair nails. From what I see of the poodle Bernese or Retriever mixes they need to be trimmed up almost every 3-4 months. The coat can get away from you easily especially with double coat.
What is wrong with people complaining that they dont like to hear you talking?! Unhappy people. They could learn something if they just listen. Thank you for taking good care of her.

yes i agree you never want to jump to conclusions but as a groomer i am an advocate for the dog first and foremost. Just like a teacher is for a student in their class. So what i do in this situation is always ask when was the last time they were groomed and get a conversation going so that i can educate the owners on how to properly take care of the dog. The dogs well being comes before feelings in my book. I will take the time to explain how horrible the dog feels when like this and how unhealthy and painful it is to be in this condition. So that this wont happen in the future.
I ve only sent senile matted dogs to vet for sedation.. Vets are pros at medical needs not haircare.. That’s why us groomers exist!!!
