I am a former student of Jascha Heifetz and have an East-European background. This is the BEST rendition of the notorious “Tsardas” - absolutely amazing conglomeration of good taste, finesse, casual virtuosity, breathtaking talent. Absolutely enamored with her incredible versatility at the highest artistic level!

I grew up in Hungary and lived there until I was 14 yrs. old. My mother introduced me to classical music. Katica really plays from the heart.
The csardas, the violin and the Hungarian soul are a perfect mixture. Beautiful piece matched with her playing and technique.

Still listening since 2010... It was the first time I thought violin could be such an amazing instrument. Her violin is like a singer, singing beautifully and energetically. I just love the song and this particular performance so so much.

Katica's sensitivity to harmony and execution of those notes elevate any person to a high degree of moral or spiritual purity or excellence.
She deserves to be seen more all over the world. I only came across these videos about two weeks ago and I it is my loss not having done it before. More advertising perhaps?

Tema del músico italiano Vittorio Monti nacido en la ciudad de Nápoles en el año 1868 y falleció en 1922. Según los entendidos en música este tema tiene cinco variaciones de tiempo. Digamos de paso,que Csardas es un baile tradicional húngaro. Y como una curiosidad digo: Czardas fue grabado en tiempo de Tango aquí en Buenos Aires con el título de "Fantasía en Tiempo de Tango " por la Orquesta Típica de Osmar Maderna.

The first part of this recording is bringing me back to the 30's and 40's when serious violin was really appreciated and particular the song When a Gypsy Makes His Violin Cry. Her playing here has the same soulful sounds. A truly great artist. George Traganos

Best rendition of Monti's Czardas on CZcams. Fascinating how powerfull the Czardas music is... two of the best known pieces (this one and Hungarian Dance no 5) are created by non-Hungarian composers.

Katika is different from other violin's performance that she likes to improve adding her own feeling to the traditional musical score, such she is doing in this song. She is more open, expressing simple melodies to enjoy the audience without needs to have a lot of the classic music knowledge, of course when is possible to do it. She made it simple.

She did a fabulous Gypsy-style rendition on the violin with virtuostic ability, a Fritz Kreisler/Beethoven/Brahms violin concerto cadenza at the end and all delivered with a smile, to boot. If she also arranged the jazz trumpet part, she's a true genius. FYI, I'm a 40-year member of A. F. of M. Local 6 (San Francisco, California) violinist.

At 4:40, as if the violinist wasn't at the top of her game with a magnificent, prodigious classical version of Czardas, the strings transition with some mystical bowings, and, voila, the lead trumpet guy flies off with an out of this world insanely awesome modern jazz trumpet version of Czardas, only to have the talented Katica return with a Paganiniesque finale! BRAVO!!!!!!!!

Definitely the best performance of Monti's Czardas that I've seen! Side note: I heard & loved this song before Lady Gaga did "Alejandro," but for a while I recognized but couldn't quite place the intro. It was a delight when I realized she sampled this.
