100% correct on the STIII Disruptor tip. It was actually worse than just breaking off the tip. They couldn't actually make any holster work with it period. After breaking and re-gluing almost every prop on set they eventually gave up. So when Cristopher Lloyd goes to remove his disruptor from the holster they changed the shot framing. The "holster" was someone crouched below and behind camera view holding the disruptor so it could be drawn without breaking it.

Very fun discussion! You should've set aside fifteen minutes for the conman to talk about how he single handedly tanked the fanfilm institution

Thanks for a great episode guys. Nice to see the close up of the klingon weapons from the shows and movies. Well done as always

It would be awesome if we got to see a close up of the modified death's head pin on the disruptor rifle. The image on the auction site isn't sharp enough to see it well.
The Gorkon disruptor was not seen on screen, not even in a holster. Gorkon nor Chang carried weapons on them at all. The disruptor did appear in the Playmates toy collection for a few (if not all) Klingon figures.
Kerla had the pump disruptor. The pump action was done for dramatic effect.

Not a power drill, a pressure washing gun. Made by Steve Horsch and Max Cervantes.

LOL. The disrupters for Trek 3 o were 'right handed' but Chris Lloyd is left handed/ He wore the holster as normal but with the butt of the pistol forward and drew and fired it left handed. its good to see my old Deathsting on the screen again

Another one that's missing is the holdout disruptor the Klingons assemble from hidden compartments in their uniform in one episode of TNG.

Ah the odd ones...yes those are specialist ones, these are all of the "main" styles of descriptors and rifles. Was very cool to get to see them all!

I was thinking of that one too. When I first saw that one in TNG I thought it was the dumbest looking thing ever...

Great segment. I always loved the utility of the Klingon disruptors from Star Trek 3 where the pistol could be upgraded to a rifle by the quick-lock stock and what I assume is a power booster.

The Enterprise era disruptor with the rifle stock would make sense if the stock was supposed to pull out all the way. Several pistols throughout history, mainly the old west Colts here in the US and Nazi Germany Lugers and Mausers had some pistols that were fitted to a rifle stock if so desired. This increased accuracy. Since I didn't make the Klingon prop, I don't know if the actual intention was that the stock slid out completely to quickly convert the pistol into a rifle version. Just a hypothesis.

  • @thebeardedwandmaker3657

They say there wasn’t any left handed Klingons, but in Star Trek 3 Kruger held his disruptor in his left hand.

They used "Klingon phasers", as Kirk called them, back in the mid 23rd century.

  • @sciguyjeff
    @sciguyjeff Před 8 lety

The pistol that has the sliding grip can be easily explained by allowing the shooter to get a better steadying grip if shooting two handed. The slid would allow for the best grip position for the shooter rather than as a "pump" to fire a round. Although it would also be possible that the pump action would initiate a build up of power so that the next shot would be an extra powerful bolt, similar to having a grenade launcher on a modern gun.
Come on guys, use your imagination here.

They are missing the Star Trek 4 Klingon Disruptor, "I guess it must have been the radiation" And the TNG Season one episode "Heart of Glory" disruptor.

Kruge was left handed, so I wonder if Christopher Lloyd's disruptor was custom made, or if they just shot the scenes where he's holding it from an angle which hides the trigger.
