Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammes), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. I've watched about 50 reactors play this video and everyone of them is in stunned silence at the end when Rob Christie hits that last note. I think Angelina’s hyper sensitive intuition knew how it should be performed. I like Elvis’ interpretation, but it took listening to Angelina’s arrangement and performance for me to pay attention to the lyrics for the first time. Everything about this production and performances is outstanding. In the beginning credits it states that the executive producer is, Mery Zamani. Mery is Angelina’s grandma. With Elvis upbeat version I always had a little trouble believing he was really distraught by being caught in a trap… Don’t get me wrong, Elvis’ performance was and is amazing and so much fun to watch! I just feel Angelina is catching the story and feeling of the song better. Anyone is free of course to disagree. The visuals are gorgeous as well: with her uncovering beautiful pieces of the past, her cousins and sister giving a sense of time passing by. HxC great to have you back reacting to Angelina again. She used the same antique store to sing My Funny Valentine back in February and you should react to that incredible performance. Angelina has returned to Norway and her first time back on stage in 2.5 years, since AGT. She sang Bohemian Rhapsody and I Have Nothing and TV2 has videos posted for them. Angelina had a full concert on July 1 and cell phone videos are available. She has concerts in Norway on July 7 and 10th.
My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

First off, I'd like to preface this statement with the fact that I have been a HUGE fan of Angelina's since I first saw her back in 2014. I believe she is one of the greatest vocal artist I have ever heard in the 60 years of my life. And I know from your many comments, Ole, that you are a pretty big fan as well. But as fans, we have a responsibility to represent Angelina in a truthful manor. Often times I read comments about Angelina that just aren't true. But they keep getting repeated so often that people just assume that they are true. One of the things that I read a lot is that Angelina ALWAYS arranges ALL of her music for EVERY performance. I have never heard this from Angelina or anyone from her team(family). While that may be the case SOME of the time, like her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody, I know for a fact that it isn't true ALL of the time. Case in point: with this particular song, while she may have had some input with the tempo and lyrical rearrangement and most certainly the unique vocal treatment of the piece, in the description under the video, Angelina credits Rob Christie with the piano arrangement. I have learned over the years that things are rarely absolutely so black or white, but rather nuances of grey. In reality, I believe Angelina collaborates in conjunction with the various bands that she has worked with over the years to varying degrees. What makes Angelina truly special is her unique vocal treatments she brings to her masterpieces; and that I believe is 100% Angelina!
@@todradmaker4297 I agree 100%. Perhaps I need to be more specific. In this performance I make that statement in reference to Angelina's vocal arrangement. That is all Angelina in my opinion. Angelina has an incredible team surrounding her and collaborating with her. Rob Christy is a multiple grammy winner and her team includes grammy winning writers as well. Additionally I have never personally believed she arranged everything related to her performances like 'I Put a Spell On You' where she passed on her "Wish List" I think the band performance was mostly responsible for the musical arrangement but I do believe they were following Angelina's vision for this song. How she conveyed that to them is speculation but I have seen her in many rehearsals where she makes changes offers direction and sometimes even plays an air horn to demonstrate what she had in mind. She is a novice on piano and guitar and has never claimed to be accomplished at either but she does fine for herself and her practicing I am sure is enhanced by it. Several songs have been written for her and the arrangements I am sure were mostly the product of the artists she worked with. Additionally she was also guided and I have no doubt had frequent suggestions about arrangements etc... from her grandmother.. I also believe that Angelina has a picture in her head of what she sees in her performances when she selects them and I believe that vision guides her in her interaction with those she works with so in the end we get what she had in mind when she first considered it. Speculation on my part although I think it is sound reasoning. IMO I have been guilty of bypassing these unsubstantiated claims by not calling them out but considered them a product of over enthusiasm and imagination run wild and often ignored it. Thanks for the comment and your attention to detail. I want the true story to be as accurate as possible and not the myth. Though Angelina has achieved Mythe like status.

With slowing it down, the arrangement and her melancholy, she brings out the sadness of the song of love being destroyed by suspicion and distrust. With Elvis upbeat version I always had a little trouble believing he was really distraught by being caught in a trap… Don’t get me wrong, Elvis’ performance was and is amazing and so much fun to watch! I just feel Angelina is catching the story and feeling of the song better. Anyone is free of course to disagree.
The visuals are gorgeous as well: with her uncovering beautiful pieces of the past, her cousins and sister giving a sense of time passing by. Elvis is present as well: the rhinestone boots, the mic, the come back tour guitar and leather suit, the Priscilla beehive. Also Rob Christie, slaying it at the piano, is wearing a red suit which fits that specific era.
Sung like a song written for Angelina.

HxC great to have you back reacting to Angelina again. She used the same antique store to sing My Funny Valentine back in February and you should react to that incredible performance. Angelina has returned to Norway and her first time back on stage in 2.5 years, since AGT. She sang Bohemian Rhapsody and I Have Nothing and TV2 has videos posted for them. Angelina had a full concert on July 1 and cell phone videos are available. She has concerts in Norway on July 7 and 10th.
My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video:
First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

This arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentines Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. First off, I'd like to preface this statement with the fact that I have been a HUGE fan of Angelina's since I first saw her back in 2014. I believe she is one of the greatest vocal artist I have ever heard in the 60 years of my life. And I know from your many comments, Ole, that you are a pretty big fan as well. But as fans, we have a responsibility to represent Angelina in a truthful manor.
Often times I read comments about Angelina that just aren't true. But they keep getting repeated so often that people just assume that they are true. One of the things that I read a lot is that Angelina ALWAYS arranges ALL of her music for EVERY performance. I have never heard this from Angelina or anyone from her team(family). While that may be the case SOME of the time, like her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody, I know for a fact that it isn't true ALL of the time.
Case in point: with this particular song, while she may have had some input with the tempo and lyrical rearrangement and most certainly the unique vocal treatment of the piece, in the description under the video, Angelina credits Rob Christie with the piano arrangement.
I have learned over the years that things are rarely absolutely so black or white, but rather nuances of grey. In reality, I believe Angelina collaborates in conjunction with the various bands that she has worked with over the years to varying degrees. What makes Angelina truly special is her unique vocal treatments she brings to her masterpieces; and that I believe is 100% Angelina!
@@todradmaker4297 I agree 100%. Perhaps I need to be more specific. In this performance I make that statement in reference to Angelina's vocal arrangement. That is all Angelina in my opinion. Angelina has an incredible team surrounding her and collaborating with her. Rob Christy is a multiple grammy winner and her team includes grammy winning writers as well. Additionally I have never personally believed she arranged everything related to her performances like 'I Put a Spell On You' where she passed on her "Wish List" I think the band performance was mostly responsible for the musical arrangement but I do believe they were following Angelina's vision for this song. How she conveyed that to them is speculation but I have seen her in many rehearsals where she makes changes offers direction and sometimes even plays an air horn to demonstrate what she had in mind. She is a novice on piano and guitar and has never claimed to be accomplished at either but she does fine for herself and her practicing I am sure is enhanced by it. Several songs have been written for her and the arrangements I am sure were mostly the product of the artists she worked with. Additionally she was also guided and I have no doubt had frequent suggestions about arrangements etc... from her grandmother.. I also believe that Angelina has a picture in her head of what she sees in her performances when she selects them and I believe that vision guides her in her interaction with those she works with so in the end we get what she had in mind when she first considered it. Speculation on my part although I think it is sound reasoning. IMO I have been guilty of bypassing these unsubstantiated claims by not calling them out but considered them a product of over enthusiasm and imagination run wild and often ignored it. Thanks for the comment and your attention to detail. I want the true story to be as accurate as possible and not the myth. Though Angelina has achieved Mythe like status.

This is the same setting as My Funny Valentine. I hope you have seen that one as well. It’s an antique store in LA. I think they are going for “classic” and “throwback”, etc. The oldest girl is her sister, Juliette, and the smaller ones are her Uncle Mike’s girls and her cousins.

You're probably referring to the light and shadows when she was reclining on the sofa which many people think make her shoes seem blue.....Blue suede shoes which Elvis wore are brogues with laces; not ankle boots with a high heel... Go to the original video, full screen and change the playback settings to .5. Notice the boots when she walks into the store and again at :21 before she pulls the sheet off the piano. Can you now see they're silver boots?
