Matt Baker was raised Christian (like most Westerners) and converted to Judaism, so he feels qualified to talk about those faiths. He has no experience with Islam, however, so that's why I think he relied on this guest speaker (who I presume is a Muslim). He does have a habit of wanting to treat all faiths with respect, unlike some New Atheists out there.

I do not know why you keep correcting yourself, but "Muslim" is the correct term. "Arab" is an ethnicity, and not all Muslims are Arabs. "Islamic" is never used to refer to people.
This connection between the three religions is only true in theory: while the Quran does affirm the truth of the Torah and Gospel (even saying that prophecies about Muhammad can be found in them), after realizing that the Torah and the Gospels contradict and disprove Islam, especially the aforementioned claim about Muhammad, most Muslims have reached the conclusion that Judaism and Christianity are really corrupted forms of Islam, and so is the Bible we have today (despite the evidence pointing to it not being true).
While most people today ordinarily use the Gregorian calendar, for religious purposes Muslims use the Hijri calendar, Jews use the Hebrew calendar, and traditional Christians use the liturgical year (although the liturgical year is simply about feast days, and it is not a real calendar).
In the Gregorian calendar here in Italy today it is 30 September AD 2023, while in the Hijri calendar it is 15 Rabi' al-Awwal AH 1445, and in the Hebrew calendar it is 15 Tishrei AM 5784. AD = anno Domini ("in the year of the Lord"), AH = anno Hegirae ("in the year of the Hijrah"), AM = anno mundi ("in the year of the world").
The reason the Muslims were able to conquer most of the Middle East is because Islam was born near the end of the Byzantine-Sasanian War of 602-628 (itself part of the Roman-Persian Wars which lasted from 54 BC to AD 628), which left both the Byzantine Empire and the Sasanian Empire vulnerable.
The Shia Imams have a very similar role to that of the popes, while the Sunni imams are more similar to rabbis. Just like the popes, there can only be one Shia Imam at a time.
It was the exact opposite: al-Ma'mun enforced the belief that the Quran was created, and most Muslims today believe that the Quran is uncreated.
Traditional Christians also believe that Jesus was the last prophet, so any prophet after him is automatically a false prophet, and their followers likely non-Christians (the most famous examples being Mormons and Seventh-day Adventists).
UsefulCharts is in the process of doing a video on Hindu denominations, which should come out on 6 October. After that, it is unknown which videos will come out: a very likely one is the one about Buddhist denominations, which might come out on 27 October.

Ok thank you. I was just trying to be cautious because I didn't know the correct terminology and I didn't want to come off as disrespectful. This one I came in with the least amount of knowledge lol. I will start looking for other videos on this topic until useful charts is more caught up on videos. I have seen some suggestions, so I can do at least 1 or 2 more Jewish and maybe 1 or 2 more Islamic videos, then check back in with useful charts.

So a Muslim view, i say A view as ive only watched a few muslims and cant say is this a wide spread and accepted view or not, is that The Jewish Torrah and the Christian New Testament were corrupted after the deaths of the prophets, ie Moses and Jesus, and that Islam was the intended and correct Abrahamic faith.
Onto the symbols you saw in the family tree of Mohammed, in Islam and even some sects of Christianity and i think judaism follows this, is that it is very disrespectful to show a image of the Prophet, his family, or his companions and as such they use, what i believe is called Arabic calligraphy, to make i believe their signatures as a stand in. Infact The game Crusader Kings by Paradox has that symbol as the Prophet's ingame model which is pretty neat. The Christian branch, Iconoclastism, were against images of Christ or anyone really and so during peroid where they were in power in the Byzantine empire destroyed images of Jesus.
The Muslim calendar literally starts the day Mohammed and his followers fled Mecca to Medina, like how A.D or B.C.E start from the birth of Jesus. 1 A.D started either the year Jesus was born or was the following year. Since at the time the number 0 wasnt a thing in math yet, atleast outside i think Asia.
A Muslim is someone who follows Islam, so using that or Islamic both seem like correct ways to phrase things.
A video i recommend that goes over the basics of the beginning of the Sunni and Shia split is the video by the channel "Kings and Generals" is "Muslim Schism: how islam split into Sunni and Shia Branches". Another video I recommend is Cogito's video about Islam which goes over the basics. The Muslims I watched from what I remember said that it was pretty accurate.

Islam was a fully developed culture by 800 CE ... and that is what we have to get along with. It would not be as successful, if Allah / G-d wasn't supporting it.

By 800 CE, Islamic history is pretty accurate. Before that it is hagiography. Arabic is a beautiful Semitic language. Quranic / MSA and multiple dialects. My favorite dialect is Egyptian Arabic. The Omani / Yemeni dagger is for throat cutting. Supposedly the Kings of Morocco and Jordan are Hashemites ... blood descendants of Muhammad.

oh wow. thank you for the information, I can see the beauty in the Arabic dialect, I don't specifically know about Egyptian but I can look for a video showing it. that Omani/ Yemeni dagger looks so cool. I can see why it has the shape now lol.
