When you contribute 60+ years of groundbreaking music and are a founding member of one of the greatest and most influential rock bands ever, you can sing whatever the hell you want. I suppose you've never seen Hunter sing... I love it.
I have seen Huntah aftah Jerry.....and he's groovy...and I love and do Promontory Rider a bit
A dude in Australian garb, on a hippo, comes into town and a circus breaks out, the hippo yawns, everybody is skeered, but Promontory Rider just keeps on riding....ride on..ride on
I like how the turnarounds are extended in box of rain
Phil was in a band called the Gratefull Dead they had 3 plus wonderful singers that produced incrediably original harmonies, this is Phil singing his material , he is not going to go out and hire the flavour of the month to sing his shit . buy a ticket or go home . and thats why were still fans.
There's just something about Phil that brings a smile to my face...
All I can say is this amazing Brotherhood feels quite comfortable to a sister ~Chris Robinson's brothers meet Phil's friend Ross James and Voila! all sparkles and some of the kindest Magic Happens!! The best $ spent on a live stream (watched it 3x's) Loved it! Ross makes me smile smile smile…shine on brother…shine on!
I completed cancer treatment in May...35 daily radiation treatments...my head and shoulders strapped to a table...I listened to the GD every day during those treatments..and Box of Rain was the most important song to my heart.
Good vibes hope you’re OK brother you’re in my prayers
box of rain...has grounded me since the fall 1970......no matter my mood.....a true joy.....
Great to see these fine tune come to life. I'll say everyone is having fun playing them out. 'The music plays the band.'
pure liquid mind gold. thanks!
thanks so much for sharing! i was there both nights and it was so awesome!
RIP MY FRIEND NEAL
This sounds much tighter than some of the stuff I remember listening to with Phil and CRB from lock-in last summer. Really like how Phil fits in with them
Candyman reminded me of the old days...
Thank You! Awesome!
wow....i love this music...what feeling...brings back Jerrys Soul....THX
this makes me want more! make it a tour!
Gorgeous. Thank you for posting. My favorite was "Attics of My Life," with one of Phil's sons, I believe. Here we are in the new age, listening on our digi devices, to a rock legend performing with the young guys, from "Brooklyn Bowl" in Las Vegas.
Really nice Mr. Lesh N company , only listened to Box so far , warm memories ,warm grooves , warmin my bones up here in Canada . Thanks!
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Chapter by Chapter / Verse by Verse !!!!!!!
Excellent quality, both audio and video. So nice to hear a live Till The Morning Comes. It rocked. Makes you wonder why the Dead didn't play it live. The lyrics maybe?
Robinson doing candy man , my fave dead song !!!!

Go Phil, if it be the will of the moth and the whippoorwill.

I guess if they gave Ross his own persian carpet he'd burn a hole it ~he's on fire!! give this guy a tour! He's magical with Chris Robinson's Brothers. Phil knows how to pick 'em!! We need you to come to the east coast. Thanks so much for this…love & light as Ross takes flight….
Love Phil but there is a good reason he didn’t sing much
brent vines w.t. Frig , he sounds like phil lesh , is he older Yes, r u ,u should know age plays on vocal chords , name someone with as many years it hasnt . regardless he is Phil `LESH not tom jones , End of critique , right .
Dead & Co. 2017 = Better vocals / Phil & Friends 2017 = better jams?
Phil Lesh is my fav. Musician and a genius. So in that spirit lets be honest. I don't understand most of the sounds that come out of his mouth when he sings a song. Like he has no breath, out of tune, melody and dissonant. I'm getting older . Do you lose control of your voice at a certain age!? I once saw them at Berkeley high school. Phil with David Crosby and Graham Nash. It was billed as CROSBY PHIL And NASH. At one point Crosby looks at Phil who is singing. I thought David Crosby must be thinking " Jesus bloody christ! Is that man ok!!?? What and why are those sounds coming out of him? I love Phil more than anyone but can we be honest about the singing? What do you think it is? Singing and playing the bass? Because I could never do that and I would sing weird also. Is he even trying to sing at this point? Is it a Luciano Berio thing? Help me understand. 😜😄
Phil Lesh stopped singing in 1974 due to vocal cord damage. After that his voice was never the same but hey, who cares? As You said, he's a wonderful musician.
You are absolutely correct. And thank you. I had no idea. I feel bad now lol. Was it cancer or just from singing?
I guess it was from singing. Phil doesn't say much in his biography:
Singing high harmonies was starting to irritate my throat, so during a series of gigs in late March we invited Keith's wife, Donna, to sing with the band, and we had a new band member.
(Searching for the sound, my life with the Grateful Dead)
his voice is surely played out but if he wants to sing I'm OK with that. just let me see him play too. by far the most unique.... I've never heard another lead bassist ever.
It's art homie
Very disappointed with Robinson's vocals on Operator. Sounds like he's completely unfamiliar with the melody of it.
Phil is miscasting himself a a vocalist. They need a decent lead singer.
they have one .... his name is Chris Robinson. It's Phil's band, he can sing whatever he wants. He never was the greatest singer, then again neither were Garcia or Weir. But they had fun and they made magic.
Maybe he should get Barbara Streisand?
Uh, Garcia & Weir were great storytellers some of the best in the biz.
