- Carrera Digital 132 and Digital 124. What is the purpose of the switch on the bottom of the car? Is it a Digital-to-Analog switch? If it is, then why is it also on a Carrera analog car
Well done! I get asked this so many times, and yet the ones asking never believe me for some reason. Your video provides the demonstrable proof!
Thanks for your comment. I know it's overkill, and not very entertaining, but I wanted to clear up years of mis-information that's been out there. I even talked to Dave Creed, the North American Market Manager, who called it a "digital to analog" switch. I politely corrected him, and it took awhile for Dave to understand why the distinction matters. Thanks again for your comment!!
Perfect explanation with examples to show exactly what happens. Thank you!!!
Thanks. Clearly explained and demonstrated.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video and explanation. However, can you use the digital and analog control units joined together and used independently of each other?
The short answer is yes. BUT, I would suggest disconnecting the Digital CU fromn the track when using analog. Teh power switch disconnects the power supply from the CU, but it does NOT disconnect the CU from the rails.
Help, my digital lights doesn't work when going from right to left, but fine when going right.
That's odd. The lights are fed through the digital chip, so they should operate the same regardless of direction.
So yes and no makes me wrong? Youve been rude to me about this for years. Yes I know that it will switch for polarity but the fact that it DOES switch for digital to analog and in the instructions it SAYS how to switch from digital to analog.
Further more the digital system is ONLY meant to run in ONE direction NOT, NOT, NOT to run in the wrong direction for digital. If you had worked for Carrera as I had you'd know FULLY that the system isn't meant to wrong the wrong way.
Digital lane changes aren't meant to be run backwards.
The reason they do it? Do you know anyone that's worked there besides me? I've talked with the designer of the system and he explained the reason for the switch.
The reason for analog is as you explain but it only has that function in analog.
Sorry but you've been beating this drum for years and being rude about it to me pointlessly.
Rude...dude GROW A PAIR!!! Yes, I have corrected you, many many times about incorrect information. A ploarity switch is a "POLARITY SWITCH". And yes, I do know people who work at Carrera. Your former Boss Dave, Last digits of phone XX39. And I know a designer, who also posts on the forums alot. You were so full of bad information, maybe that's why you have the distinction of being the ONLY guy FIRED from all 3 slot car brands. Inetersting how you posted on my video, and not on the video in question, yours, with the bad information. Interesting choice. I'm going to post your note and mine on your video, in the interest of fairness. I won't delete your comment if you don't delete mine.
