This sits very well as a "bonus" or extra to the original Tres Lunas album and can be enjoyed as a stand alone album as an alternative listening experience. Many of the themes from the original are to be found here but embellished and "filled out" by extra pieces music.
Mike is a true genius... no doubt about that fact.. at least for those who know his works... Please do not forget to listen carefully to: Songs of distant earth Platinum Tubular bells 2 And of course Ommadown These are absolute masterpieces. How do you recognize a masterpiece? When time has no effect on the intense pleasure you feel when listening and listening again these treasures... as he said in one of my favourite... "Only time will tell" and more than 40 years of hard work and true good music say that he IS a real genius...
I would add to your list "Voyager"- which is very melancholic, sentimental and spiritual, and "Light and Shade"- very nice combination of modern, electronic sounds with pop music and guitar, similar to "Tres lunas".

This may be a bootleg compilation fanmix, but it has been for many years one of my favourite Mike Oldfield albums. Get the original Tres Lunas album, Light & Shade and Songs Of Distant Earth to complement this.
A lot of mikes turn of the century stuff “00 til return is not well received by majority of fans. I love most of his stuff as a rule, but some of his naughties is pure magic. Tres, light and shade, music of spheres, have some really beautiful songs. Man on the rocks is my least favourite. But the other three are really magical. Return to is my all time favourite. I listened to it before ommadawn but I can appreciate that it’s a masterpiece. But as a guitar based fan returns my favourite. Then guitars. Some of tubular 3 is godly for guitar too

The original Album came with a computer game ! This is a mix of the Music that is on it. The game itself had a cult following at the time as a place to meet and greet !

@@riverdan4058 Interesting. I had no idea. People do that now days with music artists' recordings doing mixtures and uploading it on CZcams. I try not to listen to it. The majority of the time it's just God awful. But this Bootleg isn't that bad.
It's all composed and recorded by Mike for his game MusicVR. I extracted the music clips from the game and arranged them together into CD tracks for an album listening experience outside of the game. It's not the first time Mike has stepped into techno, though. (see Tubular Bells 3, The Millennium Bell, and Light & Shade)

Requiem for the Sky. It's actually a piece that Mike Oldfield sampled from his brother Terry Oldfield's album (I forget which one). One of Terry's people contacted me soon after I first released this asking about it because they hadn't known that Mike sampled Terry's music for MusicVR.

Some say that this comes from an interactive virtual reality game that Mike produced which came with Tr3s Lunas, the music heard here is of course Mike Oldfield playing it but these tracks have been completely created by a fan that accessed samples within the interactive game which he used to create completely new music and so, Mike didn't actually create or record these tracks or this album even though it is all of his music that we hear here, it is all the creation of one fan, sorry, it's the best way that I can answer, others say that it is the full unaltered soundtrack from the interactive virtual reality game, maybe someone else can be more specific in detail, I never got to play the game so I cannot be more specific.

Oldfield's Tres Lunas computer game tells a story of exploration of other worlds in similar fashion to the book; you enter that story personally as a player. Brandon Blume extracted the music from the game, editing, mixing and ordering the extracted music as an album, with titling resembling that of "Songs Of Distant Earth", as a reflection of both Clarke's and Oldfield's "exploration" themes in their works. Brandon's "story" differs from both, but serves the same general purpose; it's a planetary exploration impression in a musical form. Given the limitations of technology available to the youthful Brandon at that time, he's done a remarkably good job of this, creating a very musical extra Mike Oldfield album well worth the listening.
