  • The Rocna anchor was designed by New Zealand sailor Peter Smith, who has been designing, building, and sailing boats since the early 1960’s. Over 100,000 nautical miles of cruising, Peter experienced the same anchoring problems that are still prevalent today - needing to carry a variety of anchors to suit various seabeds, yet still the anchors dragged and boaters felt insecure.
“Your anchor should provide you and your crew with reliability, security, and confidence,” says Peter. A lifetime of nautical experience worldwide was poured into an anchor - initially conceived for Peter’s own use - which became the Rocna.
Your choice of anchor matters. In this film we explain how our anchors work, what makes them better, and why we make them.

Best anchor. Holds in the strongest gales. Piece of mind is priceless. Tried them all. Rocna rocks

That is a wonderful film, I'm pretty amazed. The testing demonstrations were revealing along with the "cut-aways" where you exposed them buried. The invention process is exciting, particularly how the design evolved to reach new demand. What a clever solution you came up with, and to show the manufacturing standards and the testing sure would provide some piece-of-mind. I'll admit as a racer, I did not love the bar due to windage, weight, and appearing aesthetically clunky.
but if the alternative version works "almost as well" I'm sold.

Watched a video from Sailing Uma where Dan used a Rocna as the primary anchor to weather hurricane Matthew in Haiti 4 years ago. His boat held fast and every one else around dragged all over the place. Great product!

Just wanted you to know after watching your video ,I’ve brought one of your anchors .....mainly because of the of the speed in which you claim the anchor sets .

Moved from a 75 pound cqr to the Rocna 40 (88lb) on our 63' viking after watching our boat drag from another boat and enduring a sleepless night after that. The Rocna is an absolute bear, stops all 70,000 pounds nearly instantaneously during sets and will spin the windlass if you've got too much speed on. Fits well on the bow pulpit too quite happy with it.

I have the same Tiara yacht as shown in the film (3500 express), do you suggest/show/use the 27 or 33 for this boat?

Excellent presentation. I would like to see the same high level engineering in a double anchor delivery/retrieval system. We always see one anchor in the promo videos, but in real life you need two.
