- With the heat wave north of the border, you may enjoy the cool summer weather in Ajijic on the shores of Lake Chapala. Its like Camelot. The rain may never fall till after sundown and by nine am the morning fog must disappear. Retired life in Ajijic, Mexico on Lake Chapala. RV Life. Projects in the mountains of central Mexico, our USA travels in a 40' Monaco motor home, or whatever else is on my mind today. :)

Jerry, Great video. You showed your talent, vulnerability, you provided education, showed empathy and displayed language skills. As for you tower, my father painted the house next door that he owned and rented a very bright sunrise yellow. When asked why he chose that color, he responded, "When it is foggy, I want to know it is still there." In reality, he really meant, "It's my property and I can paint it any color that I want."

Another great video! You and Lynn make me smile...and make me envious! Love your colorful house and your colorful life! Moving to "paradise" is still in our future, but when? I'd repair that problem area in the kitchen with some of that beautiful tile, painted like your bathroom fixtures! We don't have fire ants, but I have to fight the big black ants in our lawn, because they bite, too! I use Borax. Yes, it kills the grass, but so do the ants! Looking forward to you and Lynn doing a duet sometime, eh? Be well!

It might be hard the first couple of weeks to custom to Mexican culture, language barrier and all that but once you get to know it you’ll love it , stay safe and enjoy your stay over here in Mexico 🙏🏼
Right now, it’s going to be a huge hassle. Many small villages will NOT let you pass, unless you can prove that you live there. Ricardo, you don’t need to speak Spanish in Ajijic. I’ve been there, it’s mostly USA and Canadian license plates.

You make a good weatherman! I guess owning a house is similar everywhere in that the maintenance is never ending. Good thing there are plenty of workers available to help. Trying to do everything yourself loses it's appeal after a while. Seems like you never get to mark off the last thing on the to-do list!

Here in Orizaba, it is clear blue sky every morning, and 2 out of 3 days we have a thunderstorm after supper. It rarely goes below 66f at night. Up north I always had trouble with roses n' such. Here in the jungle, I am a green thumbed genius. :-)

Just about two years ago when I was waiting to close on my house in west Texas, I was watching one of your videos when you did the same thing; gave a weather report. Where I was sitting it was 106 degrees, while you were in your back/front yard enjoying 73 degrees at two pm. I had been considering Ajijic, Cuernavaca, and even Thailand as a retirement move. That day clinched it. I was living in La Floresta two months later. Gracias

That's one of the things I miss about Mexico. The beautiful weather. I was staying in Tijuana. Now I'm here in Cali where its 100+ degrees.
You got that right? I'm stuck in Barstow, CA. for a few weeks more at 106° Good thing it's dry weather so in a sense I'm better off here than I'd be on the west side of LA which humid weather Not to say that both rejions are unbearable in reality

Oops... I meant 1967 not 1067.
There is a product that you make holes with a drill every 10 inch just above the floor over the ceramic wall line. You inject the liquid and it water proof the wall. Then you cover the holes with plaster.
Hope Jerry sees this advice. The great craftsmen he hires will be out of work if he does a permanent fix. I think Jerry likes the company of the folks that he hires.

Jerry, have you considered planting new palm trees in your garden? (No. Not the same old stuff). But possibly Beccariophoenix alfredii or coconut palms (Cocos nucifera) these are self cleaning palms.

I have my phone set for the Ajijic daily weather & wake up every morning & announce it to my husband...he just groans, meaning he's rather be there than in our 100+ degree weather here in central Texas! We're working on getting down there but with the virus, etc. we'll have to postpone until circumstances are improved. Have a great day!

Hey JC! I got an ol' buddy of mine from the US Coast Guard down here in Aguascalientes way, and by the end of day ONE, he was moving down here. He won't be bringing a car or much else. He'll have any furniture he needs built by one of our local tradesmen along with any other possessions he might like. We're planning a trip to GDL to talk with my "once-upon-a-time-till-I-became-a-citizen" lawyer as well. Apparently the laws had changed about six years ago regarding income, notifications, etc.
On another note, we have some "swallow" friends that have chosen to roost just outside of our doorway this year (a sign of good luck to the locals if they pick your house). The female laid four eggs. The first two days advanced, and then the other three daily. The first was laid July 1, and this morning it hatched. Sadly, I was watching from the blind, and the female took off and dragged the chick and egg shells out of the nest ... YIKES!!! I replaced it, and when she returned, she hadn't noticed apparently. I don't know how the chick might survive having fallen two metres, but we'll see. That's nature for you.
We've been waiting for our "final" cool-weather season to begin. Yesterday, we were still flirting with the 90's. But it looks like tomorrow, we'll be in high cotton!
