Frequently Asked Questions:
😇 How old are you? 23
📝 What are you studying? I am set to start my MA in English Literature at Oxford this autumn.
📚What are your favourite books? • 200 book recommendatio...
📚 Do you have a book club? Yes! You can join it here for free: fable.co/club/reading-with-th...
📝 Have you written a book? My life goal is to be a published author and make a living from writing and I am using this year to gain experience, build up a portfolio and work on a book with my agent. I have just finished the final draft of that book, as you can see in this video. I did self-publish a book about bullying when I was seventeen which is available on Amazon (amzn.to/3mdJKLm), but I'm slightly embarrassed by it now!
🎃 Do you have merch? I don't have merch in the traditional sense (I can't imagine selling something with my face or name on haha!), but I do have a stationery company where I sell planners for students. These are all designed with students in mind and follow models which I've used when planning my studying. Our products are printed in pastel colours on recycled paper: bit.ly/3wgsR85
🍵 What's your favourite tea? That's a REALLY hard one, but I think I'd have to say the B&B Chocolate Digestive Tea: bird-and-blend-tea-co.sjv.io/youwilllovethisone (affiliate link)
My second most given advice is setting a standard time that you use to unwind- something to look forward to. My partner and I call it anti-adulting night in post college life, but it is the same as a college student. Pick a time every week where you dedicate to not doing anything responsible or for self-care. Sometimes it’s just an hour on Sunday morning at the coffee shop reading a fun book, or it’s a few hours Wednesday evening to watch TV or a movie. This does a lot to reset your brain.
I love this! Sunday afternoon is the designated unwind time in our house. Helps us to feel refreshed for Monday
A lot of students struggle with their expenses, I think it'll be nice to be ahead of yourself and just write a list of expenses you might have and do a quick math on it to see what's up, things like transportation fees, lunch fees, books you need to buy for your lectures, university fees and so on.
@@eveb5657can you please tell me how? What does here parents do? Does she earn apart from YT?🤍
The students who struggle have a lot less money than her
Its not her fault she's born into slightly better circumstances than many others but her struggles are going to be the same as other students she's just showing you how to be prepared it makes sense
@@trina415 I dont think this person meant it as a critique to Ruby, but rather as an extra advice, since Ruby herself has talked in the past about keeping up with her monthly expenses by wrinting them on notion.
Something I like to do before the academic year starts is plan out my "ideal week". So I'll put down all the moments where I have lectures/seminars and other appointments and then I plan around those: When am I going to do my reading or assignments? When do I want to go and workout? When will I hang with friends? When do I have time to clean/reset?
It's not to say that I have to adhere to this "ideal week" every single week, nor is that absolutely possible, but it's really nice to sit down and be able to think what you'd want to do with your time. I think it's a nice way to see what your priorities, goals and intentions are for the next semester and it creates a tool to hold on to once the academic year starts :)
That time during August when I tend to spend slightly too much time watching your videos because I know school is going to start soon and autumn is going to start soon and I want to start my cozy season before than because I’m impatient is so otherworldly. As embarrassingly nerdy as it sounds, I am admittedly so excited to begin school and studying again and watching your videos makes me feel so much more pleasant about it because I don’t feel weird for enjoying studying. I like watching pieces of myself through other people, it is so comforting. And I love the little community of viewers to because you all seem so wonderful!! :D
“If my channel no longer serves you then I would encourage you to unsubscribe. I wouldn’t take it personally.”
Wow you’re one of the most humble CZcamsrs ever and I respect you for that
The only thing I see you missed Ruby was the importance of daily exercise. I wish I had known how much it would improve my life in my late teens/early 20s. We spend so much time in desks/ behind laptop screens/ TV screens/ tablets/ playing video games/ driving that we can forget to include it as part of our daily life. Good luck and the best of everything for those heading back this semester.
She does a lot of exercise! She didn’t show it in the video but she walks and runs and does gymnastic movements or yoga and things like that. It’s possible she took it for granted because it’s so ingrained in her life
@@citrinedreaming I wasn't talking about Ruby I know she always shows herself going for walks and jogs. I just thought it made a fun edition to the list. One of those things I wish someone had told me post Secondary School, because it does get harder the older you get to fit exercise in.
@@jasoncromwell4206 Very true! The more adulting one has to do, the harder it is to fit anything in honestly….
I would also schedule my (bi-) annual health checkups (dentist, gp, gynaecologist etc ) before the academic year starts.
Also get your bike fixed, cleaned and checked.
Another thing I would suggest is buying a bunch of birthday cards and stamps ahead of time and already make a list for Christmas/birthday gift ideas. These small things like going to the Post Office or finding gifts can cause a lot of stress when you don't have time.
You are the reason that I got A+ in my CPE proficiency exam. Thanks!
wow, congratulations! this is so so cool 💗
@@brittaschormann4554 oh this is so sweet but she inspired me a lot✨️
@brittaschormann4554 yes, but the motivation gave her a push
Definitely take a few hours to be totally offline and give yourself the space to think through all your priorities. Especially when it comes to non-academic things, what do you want to focus on in your life in terms of hobbies, skills, relationships, socializing, or spirituality? How do you plan to work that into your life on a daily/weekly basis?
How many sets could a reset set if a reset could set sets?
Really love your videos Ruby, I hope you have a great academic year. I started back at university last week and it’s been going well so far.
I don't know if you'll see this but the playlist on screen at 7:37 is the exact one I've been listening to recently! was a nice surprise to see you were too :)
I make my students do a mind map if they are lazy or if they are sat doing nothing. Or I ask them if they have anything else they can be doing as a mentor I think it’s important to keep them active during quiet times even if they may think I’m a bit of a cow I’m not, I’m just thinking of them In the long run
Ah Ruby, your videos and lifestyle is such a blessing! Can’t wait for your Oxford adventures!❤
this has literally come on the perfect day! i just got my schedule for the new school year, and i can't wait to start school and start learning in a classroom again
this is perfect, i just started school again. thank you!! good luck to everyone starting a new academic year, we can do this.
A really helpful video. While I love back to school, thinking about everything I want to do to get ready for it can be overwhelming. Thank you for the free checklist, I will make good use of it :)
I love resetting every Sunday! Completely clean everywhere and change the bed. Helps me sleep better before a busy work week
I'm really happy I watched this rn, because my new academic year is starting next week! Thanks for this video, Ruby!!
On your reset checklist you might want to arrange it in order od what to do. For example, first tide, then dust (top to bottom) and then vacuum/hoover. If you dust everything onto the ground when you've already vacuumed you'll have to vacuum again.
i always get SO excited when you post a video! Such good motivation for the upcoming school year x
Love your videos Ruby! They've really helped me to prepare for the new academic year. Best luck to you at Oxford!
Love your videos, they are so relaxing and inspire me to get my life together lol. I’m also starting my MSc at Oxford in a month!!!! Good luck to you! 💕
I was just thinking about how I can reset for the new academic year. This video was really helpful. I always love to deep clean the space I will be working in.
I graduated this year meaning that this year marks the first time I will be out of education. I am currently looking for a job, but I do find this video helpful! Though I am not resetting for anything academic, but I adapted tips from this video to fit my own needs. Resetting just sets up a new routine and clean space for a better headspace :)
Oh, Oxford looks so beautiful! I'm glad to be living vicariously through you once again. My dream life would be to be studying in a place like that, every day, FOREVER.
your videos have the power to get me excited about the new school year ❤
Before I started university, I used to get all my books organized and read them beforehand so that I would be well-prepared for the lectures. I even printed out my course syllabus and what stationeries which I needed so that I would be ready for my courses.
Wishing you all the best for your upcoming year ❤❤❤
Best of luck with school. I look forward to your videos. Wishing you all the happiness. 🤗
Working as a Polish teacher, being head teacher, im normally spending much time with my students at school. This encourage me to plan my weekend reading, i have approx.35 Saturdays to spend on reading, and to plan going outs on Sunday, like filharmony, theatres, cinema, some events which I can expect. Also some of my plans change due to some obvious every year seasonal school year duties, but we teachers should balance our growth and our students growth;)

Cringe
she misspelled it bc she's probably polish, that's not cringe??? @@joannaszulc1496
I love your comment and how you are talking about purposefully focusing on enriching activities for yourself. Teachers are in one of the most demanding professions and especially need self care! I am always impressed by people who can communicate in more than one language - ignore the haters.
ive never been so early- but thank you for this! Academics have been a challenge for me recently but this helps to prepare. Your videos are like a safe space to me ☺️
I just love your videos so incredibly much. Thank you for being here 💕
Thank you so much for yet another video! This inspired me to reset and organise all my things before school, and I love the idea of a reset routine, so I have now written myself one to use :)
thank you, this is really helpful especially our class will start next tuesday and I'm glad that I got an idea from you before school year starts
Wow! I watch your videos kinda like a wildlife documentary- very entertaining but far from my everyday life! Kudos to you!
I do keep my things clean and sorted but thats about it- I go with the flow and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Either way is fine for me ✌🏼
I am so excited for you ruby
I am following since the time when you raise voice for billing make video on that issue you come a long way from that day
Really inspiring ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cannot wait for footage of Oxford, your classes, course contents, your lifestyle at Oxford, autumny vibes etc )
Already almost halfway through my academic year and I have my midterms in September as in my country we start quite early in April but still watching your back to school series 😂
Great video though and honestly I am really excited for the new vlogs from oxford ...
In your really old video where you shared that you were rejected from oxford for undergrad you looked so sad and disappointed but little did the 17-18 year old Ruby know that she would go back to that place with a whole damn bang.....
Go slay it Ruby... ❤
I love your dress! It looks beautiful on you. Your organization recommendations are so helpful!
Ruby should rule the world, so impressed by her 😊
So excited for autumn study vlogs ❤❤❤
Hi Ruby! it would be great to see how you’re going to be taking your notes for your masters! I recently watched your video on your Notion setup from a year ago but I’m intrigued to see if it has changed for your masters? Also, maybe for a walkthrough on how to set up notion itself for the new academic year. Thanks! 😊
I would love you to make a video all about healthy eating at university: recipes, nutrition advice, how to make things, meal planning, shopping, meals, snacks...
Looking forward to spending this fall with you online! Ruby, you are a total vibe! Cannot wait for the upcoming vids! You're the best!❤❤❤❤
love your videos, Ruby!
Thanks so much this was great! I’m off to college this week so this came just in time!
This is so helpful! I wish I had seen this video from you when I was still in school, so many helpful tips 😊
So many good ideas!! Very thoughtful.
Those family clips are so lovely 🥺🤍
this is so helpful omg! i'm starting my first year this september and i'm sooooo excited ☺
Good luck at Oxford Ruby! - I can’t wait for the BTS content! You deserve all the best 🩷
Being an English literature teacher I 'm super curious to know something more about your modules at oxford. Hope u share something more detailed about them.
I kinda sense a new adventure might be exciting and daunting at the same time and that you might feel a bit nervous but Knowledge is essential to keep anxiety at bay and ur a pro when it comes to organising, decluttering, resetting and the like. So be proud and enjoy your upcoming adventure in oxford. I wish u all the best ( only be careful when u go punting😂)
been loving you videos recently!
One thing that I would recommend adding to the "Sunday Reset Routine" would be the creation of an offline backup of important folders/files on the computer, especially the ones concerning uni. I have been doing this with my main folders for quite a while now and found it to be a reasonable compromise between being "up-to-date" and "not-too-annoying".
I have this set up to automatically happen online. Once a month I do a back up on my external hard drive.
I just got a 12-page syllabus for one of my 3 PhD classes and it has me feeling a little overwhelmed! Thanks for this video Ruby! So comforting!!!
Thank you :) I love adventures! @@Givebackthescarf
Love your outfit ruby 😍

Hey, Ruby! It's gonna be my first year at uni so this video couldn't have come at a better time. Thanks for the tips! 💜
I’m impressed Luv, well done 🥰
thank you for this video! unrelated but i absolutely love your dress and hair scarf they are so pretty
Plzz give us a house tour and your garden tour. It's soo pretty ❤️
Hello Ruby, would you make a video on your Oxford readings? It would so lovely to see how you prepare the readings and what tricks you would use in case the reading is not easy. You could even rate the modules from least to most favorite! :D
Yes!! Please!!
Love your content! You keep me so motivated. Best of luck with Oxford, you deserve to be there!! 😊❤
This is so lovely 🥹♥️
Thanks Ruby :) Now I have the motivation to actually *do* this stuff 😅
Great tips Ruby, thanks.
I loved this.. made notes while watching 😊
Wow, Just in time!
Editing PDF is a great feature I totally agree
I like to play ambience videos of outside scenes during the day and cosy inside scenes for the evening.
Hey Ruby, will you vlog your moving to Oxford and the first week or so like you did when you started at Exeter? ☺️ Would love it if you do!! Good luck with this new adventure🍀
I'm starting at the uni of birmingham in september and this was so helpful and inspired me to get back into a more organised mode - still feels a bit weird to be going back to studying after this long summer after a levels ! ❤
Same, it's surreal 😮
Big fan of yours Ruby! I just have one request… can you make a video on your iPad setup? It's my first time having one and I want to know a simple yet efficient way to use it.
thank you Ruby
I just want to meet ruby’s parents ❤❤❤❤ I m sure they are amazing peeps just like this young lady here ❤
I never put additional icons on my desktop, helps a lot 🙂
I would just pass along another tip from my experience (Master's and PhD studies): as breaks tend to be short-ish in length, are there any ways you might want to take advantage of the time remaining before the program starts? Note- there will be opportunities to take good breaks- and it's essential to do so 😀
As a master’s student at Oxford, will you be able (or encouraged) to live on campus or need to find a flat? So exciting!
great!!😍 I love your videos:)
Thanks Ruby :)
I like to make sure my shoes are polished.
I have a perfume that I like - which is uplifting or comforting.
Set up my planner.
Clean and organise my space.
Groom: haircut, manicure etc
Try to eat that frog and then enjoy the other tasks which need doing.
Prioritise my Saturday morning coffee at my favourite coffee shop.
For setting up into a new school or just the season, I always like to make a list of books I would like to read. I don't necessarily have to finish them all (I do this every January, too) but just have a TBR list ready so in down time, I know what I want to pick from, rather than waste time staring at my bookshelves and getting overwhelmed in trying to pick something out. Same with making a personal to-do list; places I want to go, things I want to get done, even movies or shows I want to watch. Again, just to have ideas handy so I don't spend time dwelling on the decision and just get on with it, if that makes sense!
I do that too with the books I'd like to read thoughout the year. I prepare a little list on December and so when the time comes to pick a new read I consult that list. It saves up much time.
For a lot of people the paradox of choice and having so many options can be overwhelming and stressful. I love the strategy because you still do have some choice about what you want to read and flexibility but you still can be more intentional, rather than just quickly making an impulsive decision and wasting your time and then getting upset because it is stressing and overwhelming you. Awesome idea😊
This inspired me to make a compilation of healthy recipes
I love your videos so much!!! Greats from Germany🤩🤗😚
This is a fantastic video! I cleaned out my work desk as I watched/listened :) Will you be doing first two weeks daily vlogs again when you head back to school? Just curious :)
Please vlog your journey to Oxford.
Congratulations and best wishes from India 🇮🇳 ❤.
I did a clear out and found crayola washable as a very good calligraphy tool and affordable. But yeah as student, with a limited space, digital planners are the best bet but its not as sexy as paper crisp planners.
Hi, ruby! I'm interesting about the video device. Thank you!😊
During the new academic year, I definitely will be watching your videos a lot! They always motivate me to do better ♡
I love your videos and Ruby and have always wanted to purchase one of your planners, unfortunately to ship to Canada costs more than the price of the planner itself. Will this one be released online so I can download it instead? Keep up the great work Ruby :)))
Great content! 🎉👏
Dear Ruby, What a pleasure to watch your videos ! I admire your productive mindset, and I wanted to Ask you if you could make a video about how to write a Book ? :)
@@bethmcmullan7686 Ruby has mentionned many times that she loves writing and is writing a Book; I would love some little advice from her and to know what's her method.
Hi @banan4726, if you search back in Ruby's videos you'll find some where she shares her novel-writing progress and tips. Ruby is very much an author with a definite lovely style.
Hey Ruby
Could you do a full tour of your Notion and do you track your reading on Notion I would love to see that too. Also, could you link your favourite CZcamsrs or channels for content or ambience? Also, when is the pumpkin productivity giveaway? Did I miss it? Thanks
