It's nuts that LEGO brought deep lore for something like this, which most can't be explained through LEGO sets alone. Even if Bionicle sets doesn't come back, it would be nice to see if classic Bionicle expanded media/story comes back in a Netflix series or whatever.
@@DuckBricks Dude, i live in Brazil, and here bionicle media never really kicked out, i only had the sets my uncle used to bring back from trips to US and i had built my own ""lore"" for them as a child. It has been amazing to see this series and finally understand the dynamic between these characters. And it is mind blowing to learn how deep they went with the lore. I would absolutely watch a reboot series and even get into collecting if they decide to release sets again. Of course as any nostalgic fan i would prefer if they went with the earlier vibe of the sets rather than the 2015-16 era, but it would be nice to see something new as well. Another quick note, it´s amazing how well build these sets are, they survived a very hiperactive childhood of mine being basically my main toy for years, and i haven´t lost more than 3 pieces out of 15 sets (minus the ammunition of course).
Honestly I would love a high-budget CGI show that tells Bionicle’s story the way it was meant to be! The story is so well- rafted already I wouldn’t be surprised if a show like that on Netflix or Prime wouldn’t find a massive following both from the original fans and even a massive mainstream following.
This is a really well made video! One thing I do want to point out: The Zyglak were not really the main threat during the time when the Hand of Artakha was around despite their grudges against their creators. The Hand was specifically made as a way to stabilize the chaotic early years of the Matoran Universe before Mata Nui was placed in full control. This means these members fought major threats and disasters that could have had catastrophic consequences if they were not addressed. It is kind of like the Gods fighting the Titans in Greek Mythology. After the Matoran Universe was stabilized, the Hand members did more harm than good and as Toa teams rose, they eventually disbanded since their extreme measures weren't needed anymore.

That’s a great idea! I will definitely consider shifting around the schedule as all the episodes are done, recorded, and edited - but it would force me to push a lot of other content back, including our own series - so I’ve been trying to space it out a bit more
I grew up with bionicle. I bought my first set in when I was 5. I'm now 23 and just found this series. Times are difficult. But this genuinely made me so happy and hyped. I feel the nostalgia burning my chest. Thanks for making this man I've never really understood the story as a kid in such details. Keep the legend alive

Another great video! In one of the next episodes I think it would be a good idea to explore the geography of the great spirit robot in more detail. Even as a long time fan I still struggle to visualize the placement of Voya Nui and Karda Nui in the 07-08 story, especially the whole sinking of Voya Nui and how it fits into the robot, and the Pit's waters leaking from the ceiling of Karda Nui supposedly even after Voya Nui sank. I find it pretty confusing the more I think about it (there's definitely an explanation, I just can't seem to find it). Even when looking at some fan made maps of the cross section of the sleeping Mata Nui robot I found some conflicting information and I would love to get a more definitive answer.
For sure! So I try to explain this as clearly as possible in the episode where I cover the shattering, but will definitely consider making a separate video about it as it confused me for ages until I sat down for like an hour and stared at the comic pages haha

A few years ago I went down the rabbit hole of bionicle, I really wanted to understand the story and what the history actually was. After a few weeks I was pretty overwhelmed and it was too much work to try and put it all together. These videos are amazing!! So glad I found them, I can finally understand the whole story!

Also, as a kid I always thought that Villages and elements we're called the Toa mata, but now I've realized that Arthaka basically named each of them "[insert element's name]-guy". Not very creative as for someone wielding mask of creation. Great recap! Quality staff as always^^ Also not sure if that was intentional (probably was) but when you were introducing toa Mata, you've sounded exactly like the narrator from original ad. That was great touch^^

The planets would have to be MASSIVE in order for a 40million foot robot to lay down relatively flat on the surface. There’s no way it could land on a planet as small as Earth without utterly decimating it!

We know it's been at least since the fourth pre-release story draft (Duckbricks made a video about that story bible a few months ago, it wasn't mentioned in the very first draft). In the story itself there are several hints in the Mata Nui Online Game from 2001: The NPC Kapura mentions that Mata Nui fell from the sky one day and the Matoran of the earth village Onu-Koro can't dig beyond a certain point: the skin of the robot. The Bohrok in 2002 destroy the island to return it to "the way it was in the before-time" although they consider the Matoran their siblings. So they were always supposed to be the ones to help the robot rise from his slumber through the island's surface. Mata Nui translates from Maori to Big Face, the name of the Mount Iho is Maori for nose.
So basically, Toa of Metru is a natural toa came from six matorans chosen to become protectors, while Toa Mata is artificially created unlike Toa Metru. Whoaa ........
So let's say the masks deemed the circumstances necessary to wipe out all life, would the matoran all be transferred to the red star or would there be nothing left to transfer
I have a question: it was noted that the matoran were given “sentience” unknowingly to the Great Beings (except that one I don’t know how to spell) If so - why would they make a system of granting “noble” matoran Toa forms? Isn’t the idea of being noble like not relevant if they are merely robots without their own free will? It seems counter to earlier points, if the Great Beings didn’t know about their sentience then why reward some?
Lol the world is ending soon? Lets make a giant robot to go sightseeing for a few years and come back to save ourselves later, but before we send it out, lets spend 90% of our time creating an entire new universe on said robot for absolutely no reason. I really wonder when the writers decided that the tribal society with words literally from the Maori language was actually from a super-advanced giant robot. It wasn't until the Mask of Light movie that anything beyond the tropical island was added to the story, but the Bohrok book did include a mysterious directive to "clean it all"...
It was actually there from the very start! The entire premise of Bionicle was heroes in pill-shaped canisters fighting off a virus that threatened a massive being, like how we take medicine when we are sick.
You know, when the writers sat down after 8 years to explain the mysteries. I wonder if they had a great time coming up with these explanations for everything, or a terrible one.

But now im going off-topic: G1 is great, but some story choices and sets weren't good ('cough cough Mistika, Carapar's death, Botar's death and his replacement cough cough') i think a new series where you go over which things you would change in G1 both in set and story terms would be nice.

I’ve been a long time bionicle fan from the early years of G1 and I am still trying to get my head around that giant robot being everything.
I remember that being revealed when I was a kid, and I was so confused. Two decades later I'm still confused haha

I really wonder when the writers decided that the tribal society with words literally from the Maori language was actually from a super-advanced giant robot. It wasn't until the Mask of Light movie that anything beyond the tropical island was added to the story, but the Bohrok book did include a mysterious directive to "clean it all"...
It was actually there from the very start! The entire premise of Bionicle was heroes in pill-shaped canisters fighting off a virus that threatened a massive being, like how we take medicine when we are sick.

You know, when the writers sat down after 8 years to explain the mysteries. I wonder if they had a great time coming up with these explanations for everything, or a terrible one.
Definitely a terrible one. Imagine having to tie all of this together neatly.

But now im going off-topic: G1 is great, but some story choices and sets weren't good ('cough cough Mistika, Carapar's death, Botar's death and his replacement cough cough') i think a new series where you go over which things you would change in G1 both in set and story terms would be nice.
