- A CH-53E Super Stallion heavy lifter helicopter with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 465, a UH-1Y Venom aircraft with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267 and Marines from the 3rd Marine Logistics Group execute a Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel Mission, recovering an AH-1Z Viper helicopter from W-174 Joint Okinawa Training Range Complex on Feb. 11, 2019. The complex is located on Idesuna Jima, an uninhabited island off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. TRAP, a unique capability of the Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion, demonstrates 1st Marine Aircraft Wing's ability to provide a relevant, robust, and flexible capability when conducting personnel and aircraft recovery.

Its a good thing that Viper pilot had "Breakdown and road side assistance" on his insurance policy!
My brother was a helicopter mechanic in the Marines and this is what he worked on. I got to go out to San Diego when he was stationed there after his three tours overseas and got to go in the helicopter. What an amazing piece of machinery.

HMH-462 we had A’s and D’s prior to receiving our E models. Third engine and extra rotor blade really upped the game; let alone the stinger for in-flight refueling. 200+ knots and ability to external 36,000lbs. The “shitter”, as they were referred as, is a very capable aircraft. Don’t get on one that is not leaking hydraulic fluid; because that means the system is dry.
What a Monster of a Machine very cool. Looking in from Ireland 🇮🇪
Super Stallions are my absolute favorite helicopter. Awesome machine,
Beautiful helicopter and I want it to remain operational for many more decades.
Seen something like this first hand except it was a Mh-53E Sea Dragon picking up another MH-53E. They can carry their own weight. I was in HM-12 in Norfolk VA and we had a bird go down in a peanut field in Suffolk VA for a main gear box that started going bad. The squadron sent the shops out there and removed the main and tail rotors, rigged the lifting ring to the top on the main gear box and then they flew in another one of our birds to take it back to Norfolk. Trucking it out was out of the option because of local of the landing site and also the size of the helo was too big to move on the local roads. Was damn cool to see the fly in, hook up, and fly out.
Great teamwork and skill. Gifted pilot to hold a hover with such control.
Thank you u.s big halecapter and beautiful guidelines.

It was really a good underslung lift of another chopper. Down here, S61A-4 was used to underslung 105 cannons.
Ur like, 'Whoa look at that big heli.' Superstallion swoops in like, 'Need a lift squirt?'
....and then the Mi-26 shows up
",, If you go play around dont forget your little brother.. "
Michael from the Office, "Now just ease it it, that's it, more, more, that's the spot". "That's what she said" :)
Helicopters feel like alien tech sometimes. They're just so cool to watch
@Gideons Word neat! I learned something today.
I miss that sound of the Superstallion.
Man picked up the Viper like a toy lmao.
Me: Hey Sarg, I can't find those long flat things!
Sarg: Don't worry I'll call somebody.
The guys hooking up the helicopter are HST ( Helicopter Support Team)... now days it's a MOS...(0481) back when I was in, it was a Voluntold (1381's) engineers or (0311's) infantry who were sent to go do the job after a quick class by a staff sgt.
Our Brigade Commander recovered a Kiowa with a Blackhawk down range; this definitely tops that. 😎
F 1T out of Fla was picked up by 53 E also.i got a shot of one at LZ Blue Bird picking up a 98.the ground crew looked like little people with the gun slung underneath as it was lifting.
CH 53 and AH 1Z Viper are my favourite helicopters
Awesome!!!!!
Awesome job💪
Very impressive !
Wwooww..benar2 super heli
Nice video
"Put it through!"
"You're not my SGT!" *Throws hoist strap in his face*
Might be a Lance Corporal, chances are the guy up top was new and had never done a slingload before....

ah yes. how i remember the marine corps. always someone doing something the way it should be done. but someone yelling at them they're doing it wrong just to have them fix themselves and be confused for 5 minutes then do what they originally were gonna do.
wonderful
Nice
If this is the big brother helicopter than the Apache is the little brother
Amazing video's, super stallion recover helicopter lifts chopper the machines and techniques unbelievable doing.

I love that sound
Bad ass
I love that sound so much ❤️🇮🇶
But why didn't the helicopter with an empty belly come?
It's for carrying things.
The CH-53E Super Stallion is a beautiful helicopter, I want it to remain operational for many more decades, and never need to be replaced from the useless ch53k.
Better let the pentagon know if thats how you feel ? better yet get a job in the pentagon that way you wouldnt just be an arm chair warrior you could actually pull the plug on the useless CH53K.
Quit spamming. You’ve posted that exact comment on several different videos.

Thanks the job I did in the Marines! 0481’s doing work. Semper Fi!
That's what my son does 👍🏻 Thanks for serving, Marine
@jane where is he stationed? And thank you!
There’s something you don’t see every day
This is my job (the team rigging it underneath) it’s fun

It’s not a game but these people make it
The helicopter is so big

I didn't realize these machines were still being produced, the Huey line is incredibly successful.
@Gideons Word No but they are both Bell Helos and both use MANY of the same components.....

I am pretty sure Ch-53 is made by Sikorsky, which lockheed martin now

CH 53: I can lift a AH 1 cobra!
Mi 26: What a cute!
:D
@Dana William and they're growing again, this time without interference and west is scared shitless.
@Vinh was gonna say the same thing 😂😂
Mom came pick me up after school
That's the thing about professionals. They make difficult, complicated things look easy. There's many ways this could go pear-shaped.

As I was watching this I thought of the 53 vs the Cobra ....
One you strap on , wear and fight
One you walk onto with a Latte
Had this been an Air Force issue they would have a bunch of sky cops , a film crew ( s ) , overhead CAP , ground contollers parachuting in ( captured on camera ) , a catering Truck , Six porta potties , a tent for 0-6 ‘s ....
Had this been an Army issue we would read About it on page 6 of Stars and Stripes
Had this been a Navy issue they would just look fabulous
As it was , a Major was there keeping silent , a Gunnery Sergeant running the entire op , a Staff Sgt up close and personal yelling at a Corporal and a few Terminal Lances .
They had water and a single MRE , had spent the night with a wet poncho liner , a pissed off wet and hungry Corpsman . They were up at false Dawn , shaving.
After the AH-1 was gone , the Gunny whispered into the Staff Sergeants ear and the Staff Sgt ordered all hands on deck , on- line for Police call. They then humped the trash and their nasties 4.7 Klicks to the hardball MSR where a Humvee was waiting for the Major and a five ton for everyone else.
Got a heavy pickup from a perch, call in the beast!
Wow
There’s kit and there’s kit but kit doesn’t come much better than that ....quality ..

CYBERPUNK 2077 intensifies
Someone worked pretty hard to conceal every last number and insignia on the on the AH.
Why did they do that?
Have you heard of operation "postman"?
@@guardianobserver6593 In what context? That name has been used for all kinds of programs.
Guardian Observer no I have not.
It’s might just be an old airframe used to practice lifts with. We had junk hummers, howitzers, and APCs that we just moved all over the place. Sometimes between San Clemente and Camp Pendleton.

dmm that CH53E is a boss
You're coming home with me, right now, young man.
I bet it’s a tad breezy under there
I was in the Navy and worked on the H-53's, at a above ground hover they produce 100 MPH winds, breezy? Oh yea you can even see the guys on the hill behind it having issues standing up.
esta padre es le licoptero
Hey I did that, nice.
Hey I think a CZcamsr name "Shapa" record a different view of this when the sea king landed to drop of some troops. It's over on there channel if any one wants to see it.
Bij ons in Nederland kunnen de helikopters gewoon zelf vliegen....
That took waaayyy longer than should have, come down more altitude slide for the wind correction and release the hook away from aircraft, dude come-on!
Chinook the real boss.
واقعا عالی بود👌
Easy lift for a shitter. The shitter can lift 30,000 lbs and the AH-1Z without blade is probably 11,800 lbs. They are surprisingly fast too, running out at about 170 knots. I had some rides on the 53D when I was with the Aviation Combat Element of 31st MAU during Eagle Pull and it was smooth but deafening.
the chopper pilot is all
Wonder why the Marines stencil on the side was taped over.
Heavy Duty - AAA - Hope the pilot had his AAA card handy !!!

Bloody locals swiped the rotors huh?
Must be near Glasgow!

i was a s model crew cheif and i know the tail rotors will fit in the ammo bay and the only place for the main rotors is ties them to the skids so where are the main rotors
When did they start letting little people into the Corps?
When fat people couldn't pass the PT test.

MI 26 be like 😂
We know that Russia has the biggest helicopter. If you sit down a think, maybe you would know why. Russia has a lot of mountainous terrain. They “ Had” to build a BIG helicopter to transport the missiles for miles. Here in the U.S we don’t need a bigger helicopter, unless we had “ a lot” of us for it. I must admit I’ve seen MI-26 lifting a chinook, but it was in a different mountainous country. If we could build a great stealth fighter F-22 Rapture we can definitely build a bigger helicopter than the MI-26..mark my words.remember, necessity is the mother of all inventions.
The hook is not functioning too well.
I worked on the H-53's in the US Navy, that hook was designed to have a little bit of weight on it to allow for a proper release when they hit the button, just having that cloth strap on it with no real weight was the cause for the slow release. Normally that release hook pops open pretty easy.
Unterlastfliegen ist nicht so die Stärke der Knaben.....
What are you doing step copter?
كفووو
They probably needed a chopper that big to carry the pilot's humongous balls.
Lol the pilot flying was actually a female, can confirm. And yes, she’s an excellent pilot with balls of steel 😂
Será que é verdade mesmo um helicóptero levantar outro assim e transportar?
ណ
Transporta sim
then there are russian helicopters that lift the Super Stallion. the food chain.
Did anyone else have their ass pucker up when the Cobras boom almost struck?
YUP
That's why there is a Stinger.....It's a long rounded piece of metal that protrudes from the tail, usually to keep the boom from striking during landings......
@@Ami-vh7sr I know, I used to build helicopters in that type rating. And if were gonna be technical, hitting the stinger is still a tail strike. So take your snarky little retort and rethink your life choices.
@@acar3615 I work on Helicopters currently, I have built, maintained, and overhauled AH-1s, UH-1s, UH-60s, OH-58's, AH-64's, and so on. I wasn't trying to be snarky but I suppose you took it that way. Hitting the Stinger when the weight is being supported along the Transmission and the Main Rotor head mast isn't really that big of an issue as the majority of the weight is being lifted by the MH-53.
