Danny, really amazing result, absolutely love it! 🤩
Dehancer team is here to answer any questions
Great video Danny! Really like this dehancer. Quick question can you use just a phantom lut instead of the CST node. ? thanks in advance
Yes of course, anything that you like to get the rec709 base grade done
heyy!
as a premiere pro user i tryed lumetri as colour grading, red giant looks (colorista etc.) and now im trying dechancer plug in without the Film section enable only for colour grading , witch you think works better for weddings clips or small commercials!
If you're grading S-Log3, I would say wait for me to launch my LUTs haha it will blow your mind on how convenient it is to use. Like I mention in my follow up video, Dehancer has its limitations to grade "normally" instead of film looks. I haven't tried red giant, colorista etc so I have no comments. Cheers!
@@DannyGan 😀😀😀
Thanks for this :-) Am I correct thinking that there is no Z-cam profile? It would be very helpful to have it included!
Yes, I don't think most software has Z-cam or Kinefinity profiles built-in, but you can always use the manufacturer's technical LUT and set Dehancer to REC.709
Hi Danny,
Thanks for this review.
As a colorist, how would you explain quickly the main deferences between Dehancer and something like Look Designer?
( Found different reviews on both but no comparison).
I can't say too much about Look Designer without using it, but from what I've seen from Dado, it has good capabilities to emulate the colours of film, Dehancer just steps it up with features like Gate Weave, Film Breath and more to imitate the flaws of shooting on film. That's just my opinion 🙂
🙏 Also, some have mentioned these differences too:
Look Designer is used more by high-end post production as it offers tools for look design and not just press. Look Designer has superior image quality and it has been optimized to run in realtime. Look Designer has a suite of color management tools and Dehancer has not, Look Designer has a suite of Look testing tools and Dehancer has not and Look Designer has got Ed Lachman Zones and Dehancer has not. Dehancer has some options like halation and grain that Look Designer has not but they make your system very slow.
can you please make the video of fitness color grading in s-log3
Feel free to share some clips to my email filmprostudio.my@gmail.com
Hi, the plugin interface to enter the activation key doesn't pop up after installing. Kindly help. I am using a Mac
Please reach out to dehancer's customer service, they're very helpful!
I think bad exposure bad temp shooted footages are not good with dehancer plugin
I think if its bad, you'll just have to do more work. Dehancer has some exposure toggles but they are the same with Resolve's own tools. So I can't really blame the plugin if its bad footage 😅
Looks really juicy
Like you my friend
This is not how you use Dehancer 😂
It's a film emulation not a grading tool.
You can't set WB in film, you can't change ISO in film, so you need to change the WB to either tungsten or daylight and change the ISO to what the film profile you're using. Let's say we're using 500T, set the footage to exactly 500iso and WB to 3200K and Tint to 0. Now apply dehancer and the only color grading you can do now is via the dehancer plugins. Do not apply any other grading or it will break the film look. Because back then in day, cinematographers didn't have curves, or the contrast knob😂 I've seen alot of people buying dehancer but trying to white balance their footage before applying dehancer and getting some greenish result. The problem is they don't understand that the film profiles itself essentially contains the BALANCING process because back then you can't calibrate white, so the film itself is calibrated against whatever lighting condition it is for. You are too knowledgeable in modern day color science to use film emulation, to use dehancer you need to change your mindset to pre-digital photography. You need to fight the urge of using curves and getting your highlights back, because the "imperfections" are why images look like film.
your doing it all wrong sir. do your normal color grade first then on dehancer input ur color space. dehancer should be the last node and on its own, you then use it for your film emulation. it is not for color grading its a film emulation tool
I'm not sure what you're referring to actually. You're saying I can't use dehancer without doing a "color grade" first? Wouldn't the results be more accurate to actually shooting on film if I don't mess with it beforehand? But use it however you want, I'm not gatekeeping anything. Its a tool and nothing less. This is just a demo of Dehancer itself.

@@DannyGanwhat he means is you gotta set the WB and ISO to what the film profile is for.
