Used to retail these for £1 K in 1987 - that's £2,972 today ! Called the World's Best CD Player for a short while, massive, heavy and sounded great .....love old REAL Sony gear.
Nice to see you working on 555ESD, use mine as a transport, still in mint condition and just passed 36 years old. That Sony engineering may outlast me 🫡
I bought two used CDP-333ESD Sony players while I lived in China. China tends to get used Japanese stuff via H.K. and Shenzhen. One works but the drawer is slow to open, but it still opens, and none of the push buttons on the face seem to work, unless you push really hard. The other player did work but I tried to "fix" the drawer (also slow) but now it is just a large boat anchor. I'd love to get both of them fixed but few people in my area work on such things. BTW, I paid around $150 for each.
Stunning machine,,wish i never sold mine,,it still going strong...
much can be learned from the journey, not just the destination
