  • To rest is to trust. Trust in Christ’s Word and trust in His Work. We are accepted by God only through Christ’s work and not our work. You cannot rest in who God is unless He reveals who you are.
Resting in God’s Word allows Him to reveal our spiritual condition. Hebrews 4:12-13 reveals 3 things about God’s Word:
    God’s Word is a scalpel.
    God’s Word is a sword.
    God’s Word is a spotlight.
God’s Word exposes our heart’s condition, convicts us of sin, and convinces us of our need for a Savior! If we fail to rest in God’s Word for our salvation, it will one day bring our destruction. To be accepted by God, we must place our salvation in Him and trust that He is sufficient to save us.
