    Great video.
But I do it so saito feeler can not slide in, look at manual, it says so too. Has a feeler even crossed out.
You can use aftermarket feeler thats thinner if you like to check you are not 'at zero', or kissing your cousin like you said could occur :)
But pretty sure supplied saito feeler should NOT fit in after valves are set ok. Check it out please. Cheers and keep it going

I agree and saw that. Knowing what I do about engines, here is the thing. Once that engine gets hot parts expand. Once those valves and that rocker gets hot the valve will now be held open which leads to a loss of compression/power and possibility of getting kissed. I would bet my life it’s wrong in English translation. Every engine I have ever adjusted in my life from race cars to every day street drivers to RC has been that way. I stand confident. I appreciate your attention to detail. Thanks for watching

@@JustPlaneCrazy ok I just do like in manual. Next time try to press valve down with a screwdriver once piston is in TDC , there is ample free place, but burning out the valve is possible if it does not open/close like it should, because it cools also when it seats back in and fire does not pass over thin end all time if it is set ok. But once more, great video, very detailed and interesting which is not seen often, you put a lot of effort into it, bravo. Happy flying.

Nice point of view on it.

      @@TomislavReskovic Exactly!
A "too small" play is much more critical than a "too big" one, as the valve needs the "closed" time in it's seat to cool down!
My profession teacher (certified car electrician 35 years ago) always said: "a valve that rattles, won't burn!" :-)
What I can't follow, is the fact, that on the one hand, SAITo doesn't specify the exact play, and even the play of the exhaust play isn't bigger than the inlet valve's play!
Maybe on this smal sizes the heat expansion of the material is not that big factor?
By the way: if the FG 61 ignites alternately (which I suppose), there's a simple methd to verify that one cylinder is in compression/ignition top position, without putting something into the cylinder.
Just look, if there is a smal overlap (both valves are slightly open at the same time) on the one cylinder; this indicates, that the oposite cylinder is in ignition position / top dead center..

@@JustPlaneCrazy the manual explicitly states the Saito is different from other engines in this respect. Don't buy a whole paragraph being translated wrongly and having the wrong semantic. There goes your life

Just Plane Crazy, after 6 tanks of gas(20oz). The left exhaust was the only one more than the rest. But not that bad.

Redline oil regular 87 pump gas and 16/1. I never let gas sit in the carb. I always run every gas engine dry to prevent varnish. Thanks for watching

hello my name is Vinícios I'm from Brazil. i need your help please. I have a Saito FG 61 TS I opened the engine's right cylinder and the valve camshaft cover and now to mount the valve camshaft I need to know its correct position! Another doubt is if this engine explodes the combustion chamber at the same or one cylinder at a time?

All four strokes get the valves adjusted with the same process. Usually different specs or clearances. Thanks for watching
