Synopsis . (0:12) While in the park with a girl, Fatty is urged by his girlfriend to rush to the aid of a little girl who is about to drown in the pond (0:40). The little girl's father turns out to be the Police Commissioner who, to thank the boy, hires Fatty as a policeman (1:40).
(3:23) Fatty, proud of his uniform, goes out on patrol with his girlfriend at arm's length; he finds himself having to intervene in a fight, but ends up knocked out immediately (3:55). Arriving at a park (4:27), Fatty and his girlfriend, are the object of spite from a gang of boys. (6:10) Forced to take a bath for getting dirty, Fatty plunges into the pond and the brats steal his new uniform and hide it from him. (7:34) A passerby finds it and brings it to the police station; the cops then think Fatty has drowned. (8:44) Fatty meanwhile wanders around the park looking for his clothes, but he runs into two ladies who mistake him for a maniac and run to alert his colleagues. Fatty is forced to flee. (9:10) The other policemen dredge the pond in search of Fatty's remains, but only succeed in sinking their boat.
(10:15) Fatty is finally arrested and taken to the police station (10:41) where his funeral is being held. But the commissioner is so furious with him that he has him thrown in jail (12:01) while his girlfriend consoles herself in the arms of other policeman .
