Looks to be expertly handled with how windy it was
I agree!
Ever tried getting a boat up on a trailer in windy conditions?.
Give it a go before u criticise 😂
It's always a lot of fun to do some spotting at CYHC, must take some skill to handle these on the water!
Yup, it's way easier to maneuver a twin otter
When you run out of rudder, the ailerons can help. Use adverse yaw to your advantage, and come in hotter.
Excellent footage. The pilot/pilots got there in the end.
He did a good job considering the wind
Nicely done by the dock guys
👍
They are a very professional bunch, which can be said for the whole company.
Fantastic shot of the Harbour Air De Havilland DHC-3 Twin Otter landing at Vancouver International Harbour mate
Thanks
@@VMCAviationVideos No problem mate
Ah, not a twin, just an Otter!
Great video of this Turbine Otter!
Thanks
Nice catch
Thanks
Looked like a great job to me.. did you see that windsock?!
Yeah, he had some good wind
Looked to me like a near prop strike.
I dout he was bragging around the coffe pot after that one. . Great catch tho
👍
Opps
Needs to take a boating course
A sea plane is not a boat even if it has floats, it has very different handling and reactions to wind. They handled it just fine under those wind conditions...
This is what happens when you hoard all your tips, and don’t share the love w the dockhands. They leave you twisting in the wind.
Haha 👍
Just found this I was the dockhand lol
👍
this is why we have wing ropes at kenmore
@@mattmorrissey9567 wing ropes with an otter in those winds are useless, that huge tail is hard to hold back in a light breeze.
@@_multiverse_ oh trust me I know. still helps when you need it
zero problems. Handled wind like a pro
👍
I dont see much indication of high winds, according to water surface. Looks like lack of skill in line up, and reversing.
@@stevecarlisle3323 What do you estimate the wind speed at?
So the wind whistling thru the camera mic, and the parked planes rocking don’t clue you in that there is wind? If it’s an offshore wind, you’re not gonna see big waves and streaks, but it will still get ahold of that otter’s giant tail. He stubbed his toe on the dock. If you miss your turn, and don’t hit reverse, you’re gonna run over the dock. Been there. In strong crosswind, if your dockhand isn’t a superhero, you best park on the end, and let them wrestle it back around the corner.
@@PostcardsfromAlaska flag and sock indicates 15 to 20 knots, maybe.
you bought a plane put pontoons on it and called it a float plane. I think thats your first problem lol. need to design the plane to be a flying boat then you can put a thruster on the rear and wont need the docking crew
👍
I have a flying boat, they're much harder to dock than float planes due to them having sponsons which get in the way of the dock but floats with thrusters sound like a good idea
lol
😁
Us poor guys with no reverse...
