  • Hey Friends!
    I have been busy studying for finals and was unable to post last week. This week I wanted to share how I studied for fundamental of nursing. Now this is a very loose study plan, as the way I studied changed throughout the semester. Hopefully this information is helpful to you and can use some of these tips in your foundations study routine.
    If you would like to skip around, I have provided time stamps below.
    Class layout: 0:29

    You give real advice on how to study! I appreciate that cause a lot of other channels just say, do your notes, review the PowerPoints, & practice nclex questions.
    Im realizing there is a lot more to getting those As and Bs.

      Hey Phillip! Wow you're already diving into fundamentals. Of course, I hope that my tips are helpful. I also recommend to search in google some topics your focusing on and put NCLEX style questions after the topic and you'll find so many more quizlets! Good luck to you 🙂

    We have fundamentals lectures 3 times a week, 3 labs, and 2 clinical days. I have no full days off to get all of the assignments done. I just started and already I feel like I'm drowning and can't keep up.

      This is my 2nd week in foundations and I feel like I'm drowning. Any suggestions? I do own the Saunders NCLEX-RN book, but I do know what are the key concepts or important things to focus on.

      Eastern Queen Thank you so much 💖 Wow this is so exciting, good luck on your journey to becoming a nurse. I don’t have kids of my own, but the biggest suggestions I can give you is to time manage and make sure to have a space solely dedicated to where you will study. Try to study in short blocks of 15-30 minutes, so you can use your breaks to check up on the kiddos. It is manageable, as I take tons of breaks and don’t need to study in the evening and days on the weekends. I would also plan out your weeks ahead so you know when you are planning to study as well. Maybe study when your children are napping or have quiet time and such. Maybe more of structured study schedule might be helpful in your situation?

    Did you go to keiser university? Sounds a lot like their process to the T.
    I’m going to a sister school of Keiser, so that’s exactly our curriculum.

    • @KristenWaldorf
      @KristenWaldorf  Před 3 lety

      Hey Ansley, I did not go to Keiser University. I went to a Jesuit private college in Illinois! I would think though that some schools would have similar curriculums and others would be so different!

    How did you pass fluid & electrolytes? I have a test on Monday 😢

    • @KristenWaldorf
      @KristenWaldorf  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey! Fluid and electrolytes can be tricky concepts but these concepts were in my pathophysiology class, so I was only tested on the patho behind the imbalances. I would suggest watching registered nurse RN, she has some great videos on these topics! I would also try to find some practice questions online to help solidify the concepts too. Hopefully this helps!!

    How many hours a day did you study first semester?

    • @KristenWaldorf
      @KristenWaldorf  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Kayla! So I had classes for 8-10 hours a day. After class I drove home and took a break and normally studied for 2-4 hours after class. I had three days off of school and would study for two long 6-8 hour sessions on two of my days off and then took one day off a week where I didn’t do anything school related. Some weeks were busier than others where I had to study longer and some weeks I didn’t study as much, so it honestly just depended on what my schedule looked like.

    • @KristenWaldorf
      @KristenWaldorf  Před 3 lety

      Hey Brenda! Haha yes, it did take me some time to get use to talking to my camera since it felt really unnatural to me. Thankfully with a little practice I can tell it comes more easily now 😃
