I Was Wrong About This Game - Goddess of Victory: Nikke

- I was initially skeptical of Goddess of Victory: Nikke, but after giving it a try, I'm glad I was wrong! This game is more than just waifus - it's a well-made, action-packed shooter with a surprisingly engaging story. In this video, I'll share my first impressions of Nikke and why I think you should give it a try.

Come for the waifu, stayed for the soul crushing stories. If you think that intro was depressing, a lot of the Nikke's stories have very tragic past and many of the special events from past several months has stories that are depressing and heartbreaking. I think the waifus and the amazing ASSets are there to balance out the sad stories.
The Christmas event killed me, and Anne will always be on my lobby screen thanks to that event

@@ganshrio7336I mean it’s like crying watching something like the “Where The Red Fern Grows” a good story will connect with you if don’t you don’t care for the story because it can’t connect which either is ain’t a good story or it just doesn’t capture your interest which is fair not everyone likes the same things but if you do care the story will invoke feelings I had lost a Dog before watching “Where The Red Fern Grows”… By the end I was fully crying… in class. That movie connected with me as a result I would have preferred getting gut punched that movie fucked me up.
The game uses the physics and stuff to kinda offset the sad parts of the story because the main story stays dark and gets really dark at times so the events and stuff have to have some comedy and sexuality to kinda offset that otherwise the fan base would get tired of all the dark themes. Dont focus on the character designs so much as their personalities as thats what makes this game so great for me.

I was going to play it for the plot for 12 minutes but now i stayed for the plot, music,etc.
The fact that you didn't even really notice Rapi's fire animation for so long is a showcase to how that's such a small part of the game. After 2-3 days of play time, it becomes an after thought. Don't get me wrong, I like collecting the girls, but I almost never watch the fire animation and just focus on shooting and progressing.
Agreed it's a gacha game I tell people is a legitimately good game. I enjoy collecting characters and tbh I'm still upset I missed Noir skin

There are sad moments but nothing dark nor heavy.
I think the direction of the game had shifted from the prologue.
Which to be honest, is a big disappointment for me. I know its sells well for other users, but I do really wish the game story carry itself more seriously.
Another example would be the game log-in screen. It was solemn, serious, and epic (Both the background and BGM).
I think Nikke was meant to have some dark and heavy elements, but that was thrown out to the bin seeing how the fluffy trend wins the game 23 million USD revenue per banner.
17 chapters in, I'm expecting more Marian like tragedy.

@@DisIngRaM I like this and agree the story isn't as serious as the prologue. I'm on chapter 20 I think and I like it a lot though. I care for the main cast and enjoy the light hearted funny parts, and it has its moments of getting serious. Still my expectations was a silly sexy good time, and I'm happy how this game has surprised me with decent or imo good writing and voice acting.
@@DisIngRaM You don't consider stopping a terrorist organization who gaslit someone mourning about the loss of their best friend to help aid in the killings of hundreds of innocent civilians just to try and break the protagonist's moral code by having the protagonist kill them a heavy story? That's literally the plot of a Batman movie.
Thrown out the bin because fluffy trend is profitable? Some of the most profitable banners all comes from events with heavy stories. Overzone, Red Ash, and New Year New Sword all feature heavy stories. While the biggest drop in revenue was during the latest maid event. Nikke does have some dark and heavy elements, it simply knows when to not take itself seriously and just have some fun. A good chunk of the dark and heavy elements are from event stories tho, so i would assume you didn't play any of them because you seem to have only started recently, but you can still play them by unlocking them in the record repository if you didn't know. Overzone for example was literally a more tragic version of the Marian storyline.

To be fair it's the correct name, it's just that someone happens to have a trademark on the actual name of the Roman goddess of victory.
@@CruelestChris ummm… if you’re going that far, Nike (the sneaker brand) isn’t how the goddess’s name is pronounced. The proper pronunciation is how the game pronounces it; so he’s pronouncing the name wrong either way.
yeah some people really don't have a clue on how good Nikke story was because they thought that this game is only for the aasets only. The story is what makes me play this game even more!!

The fan service is what gives it its charm. If there was no fan service there would be no NIKKE. The point is a game can have fan service and have a beautiful story. You don’t need to feel guilty for enjoying it. Having a libido doesn’t make you a pervert.

When the story is as dark as it is you need a few jiggles to balance things out.

The pull rates are generous as hell. 4% for an ssr. Most gachas are 3-1% for the super rare stuff, but this game is 4%. Also resources are really abundant and by grinding for just a few hours gets you stacked. Progression is pretty good and game is fun.

I swear the fan service is the games way of distracting you from the soul crushing stories. Damn near every Nikke has some kind of tragic backstory, the world is post apocalyptic, the Ark is run by fascists and their only competition is a Corporate Conglomerate, and even when threatened with extinction it turns out humanity is still so divided and prejudiced a lot of characters in story have decided maybe letting the Raptures kill us all is actually the right choice. Like shit man I started this game for the jiggle physics and got my soul torn out instead.

We went in as men, came out with emotional damage and soul sucking depression, no doubt easily in my top 5 for a game with an actual emotional rollercoaster story. 🫠
