It wasn't just the headlocks. A lot of shoving, wrestling, and overall grappling whenever Pacquiao was landing combinations and controlling the fight. Strange to see such a low tier fighter get away with it. You expect to let some of that go for Foreman or Klitschko, even then it would be excessive. But for a guy like Horn? Smells like some Bob Arum crooked tactics.
@Fundamentally Unorthodox I know clinching and even some grappling here and there have always been part of boxing but it seems to have gotten much worse recently. I dunno if that's just my perception or if it's actually true. When I watch an MMA fight I'm expecting to see clinching and grappling and I'm fine with that. When I watch boxing I want to see guys throw hands. I'm not asking for a wild brawl but I don't want to see two guys hugging for round after round either. If that's what I'm getting I'd rather watch MMA or muay thai or something where you can legally hold and hit.

Really annoyed that Pacquiao never avenged this loss before he retired. I think this fight was fixed in order to really push Pacquiao towards retirement, as Horn became irrelevant shortly after this bout
He could still be fighting in the coming years with other recently retired fighters since his bid to become president was unsuccessful

My favorite momement from this fight was when a reporter came up to Horn and said "Do you think you won this fight because I don't think you did"
People think it was Australia that robbed Pacquiao. It was 100% Arum. Look at his reaction after the fight, not genuine. Arum knew Pacquiao had a few fights left and had no one in his stable of boxers with superstar potential, except maybe Crawford who happened just move to Welterweight. If your Arum who do you want Crawford to face, to help build his brand, Pacquiao, who could possibly beat Crawford or Horn, a scrub. Easy Choice. Arum knows Pacquiao would of taken the loss and not made a big fuss, Pacquiao is too nice. Arum did the same exact thing to Pacquiao with the first Pacquiao/Bradley fight. Build Bradley's resume up. Im glad Pacquiao left Top Rank soon after that Horn fight, he knew Arum played dirty him again.

The worst robbery I've seen was quite recent - Josh Taylor Vs Jack Catterall for undisputed.
Catterall effectively post-poned this fight for years to allow the Taylor to gather the belts. Covid played a role too. He proceeded to beat up Josh Taylor, completely dominated him and yet Taylor got a nonsense decision. For undisputed.
Basically ruined this guy's life, who was gracious to them.
I like Taylor but I watched the fight live and it was shocking . I feel Awful for Carterall lost out of being one of the only undisputed ever and lost out on millions!

I remember watching that fight and genuinely being confused lmao. But watching again, manny got countered a lot that night and didn’t land as much as he usually does which could’ve swayed judge’s decision.

I remember praising Horn for the win and essentially being public enemy number one on Twitter. Yeah I enjoyed the fight, but at same time I understand why social media was angry.
Looking back at this fight five years later, I understand the backlash, this was a one sided win for Paciquao and the fact it was an unanimous decision for Horn in this hometown, we should have seen it coming.

If you watch them announcing the winner, you can see the ref presumably lift pacquiaos hand first. He clearly knew who won the fight. Definitely sucks this robbery took place.

Erislandy Lara vs Paul Williams could have been worse because at least this fight was SOMEWHAT competitive. Lara schooled him for most of the rounds and still lost by a wide decision. That couldve put lara on the map but nope the judges sucked.
RJJ in 1988 was the biggest robbery but this was right up there.

I’ve thought a lot about why the fox might’ve came in this fight. They knew for one Pacquiao was on his way out. Also if he did “lose” his core fans would still tune into his next fight no matter what. But this “victory” sold some people on Horn. They then used Horn to be fed to Crawford + Tim Tsyzu. No offense, but if you watch Horn even doing mitt work. The kid is just tough as nails with a good work rate. Besides that he had no idea what he was doing in there.

That one round in particular Manny almost stopped Horn. Heck, you could have made a case for stopping the fight in that round. But it was not stopped. I love Pac, but for some reason in that fight, he wasn't setting anything up. He was just left hand crazy and going for the KO. He was not throwing combinations. I thought he won, but the fight was closer than Atlas was leading you to believe. Timothy Bradley was commentating too and he was saying it was close. It was not a robbery. Roy Jones in the Olympics was a robbery. He embarassed the guy. He gave him a standing 8 count, which is essentially the same as a knockdown. As a 3 round fight it should have been scored no closer than 30-26 in favor of Jones if it would have been on the 10 point system. Some of the other rounds were so dominate you could have almost made a case for 10-8 rounds in them too. Never pun Manny Horn in the same conversation with RJJ Olympic robbery. The RJJ robbery was so bad, I'm still looking for the Olympic committee to give him his gold medal and I won't be surprised if it happens some day.

The way you describe this fight it sounds like it couldve been 7-5. I've never seen the fight but from the video in the round you said could be 10-8 I didnt see anything that would make it a 10-8 that way you talk about it the fight makes it sound close.
