Konkan Railway Trains are run by two different timetables that is for monsoon session trains speed are restricted to 80KMPH (June 15 to October 31st) where as on Non-Monsoon session trains are allowed to run at MAX 120KMPH speed. Jan Shatabdi takes Eleven hours to reach Madgoan from Mumbai during monsoon session, where as in NON-Monsoon session the train takes only Nine hours to reach Madgoan.

Excellent video. One of the best route is konkan railways. I enjoyed yr journey by train to Madgaon. Keep it up.
KR follows monsoon time table from june to October, in monaoon time trains speed is regulated and approx 2 hr extra is added with normal timing. Other wise this JS used to Madgaon by 2.00 PM and the same train is returned back to CST. In konkan route two three things are there i hope u had seen but not covered in blog. One is panval vaiduct ( just after Ratnagiri ) which is a brige at a hieght of 60 mtrs. The other onr is karbude tunnel (6.5 km) which is just before Ratnagiri

In 2003, I travelled to Goa from Mumbai on a night train in an unreserved compartment , completely packed , standing till 4AM. A truly unforgettable experience. I stayed in the IRCTC for 3 days and had fun visting lots of places and went to Delhi from there by train in a reserved compartment.

Just FYI - Even passenger trains are faster in KR. You have travelled in monsoon season (june to October) during which the top speed of every train is capped at 70kmph to prevent accidents. Otherwise the same JS does Mumbai goa in atleast 2 hrs lesser

Few weeks back visited this .. Always monsoon Rocks ... Instead of Jan Satabdi u could choose diva to sanaswadi train .. fast passenger train .. but all stops r good

And the fares are inflated as well for inflated kilometres.(by about 30-40%). Though Mumbai Goa is about 550km, the kms chargeable are something like 740. The entire KR stretch is about 780km with a chargeable of 1100km!

Naveen, when you are travelling in Monsoon and in Western side ( Mumbai, Pune, Konkan , Mangaluru). Please dont get diwn the train, first the stop is only fir few minutes, second sometimes it is too crowded and third and more important the ground / platforms are very slippery. Sit at your place and log 🙏

Please cover Ukshi waterfalls near Ratnagiri Railway Station if you get a chance again . Ukshi lies between Chiplun and Ratnagiri , and is very near to Ukshi Railway Station
You will have to choose a train that covers the Ratnagiri Chiplun stretch in daylight, and of course travel during monsoon
