You are right about the US. Bone density exams are not done until about age 65. Stress tests are done to prep for major surgery or if you have (already) any heart issues. Very bad we are not more proactive.

Sounds like you had a great experience in Malaysia! Thanks for sharing; ours in Chiang Mai cost a bit more and were somewhat less comprehensive for the package that Kevin chose ($395.66) and $608.77 for me, which included a mammogram and pelvic exam. We both also had some additional vaccinations. We would have liked to have had an ophthalmological exam as well, so you did a bit better there. Great job!

We have been surprised at how affordable a luxury apartment is in KL. It's been a great stopping point for us, but it's also been very hot which prevented us from getting out as much as we liked. On the upside, we were able to work out at our gym almost every day, so we are in much better physical shape than we have been in a while.
We both wanted to get the Shingles vaccine, but you have to space them apart and we didn't have a good plan for that so we decided to wait until we could formulate a better plan. It's nice to know that in the future we can stop in KL, rent a very comfortable apartment, and get some exams and checkups. No Visa is required, and you can stay for 90 days so it's very convenient.

@@388_days We have friends who just had an equally positive experience in KL. So glad you've had a good time there. We didn't have time for it this year, but we have it on our list.

I heard that Westerners eat burgers, fried chicken, French fries, Coke, coffee, sandwiches, steak, pizza, pasta, cereal, bread and milk for three meals a day. Is this true? Or do Americans and Europeans have different diets?

Well, Americans in the United States have very diverse diets. Some eat a lot of fried food while others eat a lot of vegetables. When we were living in the US, we ate a lot of grains, fresh produce, and fresh vegetables. For breakfast we would usually have oats with almond milk for breakfast. For lunch we would have carrots, cucumbers, peppers, cheese, and maybe some bread. I used to eat kimchi for lunch too. For dinner we might have potatoes, chicken, or maybe some rice. It usually depended on what was available at the local market. We both usually had a flat white in the morning that I (Chris) would make.
Now there are plently of people that eat burgers, fried chicken, french fries, and other fried foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but there are many people that also eat very healthy food.
Americans and Europeans have different diets. Even within Europe people have very different diets (Greek, Spanish, Nordic, Italian). There are very different foods that peope have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
