- Two-time National Book Award-winner Jesmyn Ward joins us for a discussion of her most recent novel, Sing, Unburied, Sing, a profound Southern odyssey and searing chronicle of twenty-first-century America. Drawing on Morrison and Faulkner, The Odyssey and the Old Testament, Ward shows us life on the gulf coast of Mississippi for one American family, as they travel through the South. Ward is the author of the critically acclaimed titles Salvage the Bones and Men We Reaped, and editor of The Fire This Time. She will be joined in conversation with Lolly Bowean, a reporter with the Chicago Tribune.

I. Love. This. I feel like a child sitting by the fire listening to a story
Came here for a school assignment 😢
Incredible, quite incredible So moving
Thank you for this rich narrative all be it harrowing
Its many peoples every day
I came here after reading "Salvage the Bones." Writers who can make you look at things you want to avoid. Ms. Ward has that talent. Some subjects she writes about, they hurt me. I want to turn away, but I can't.
Great Video! good job
