- In this video, I do a drum cover of Lincoln Brewster's version of Everlasting God. I did not play what the drummer on the record played, instead, I tried to approach it as if I was playing in church. I only did one take and di not rehearse beforehand, so it is kind of "live". I hope you enjoy this performance and are inspired to play some worship songs.

That was really awesome Mike! So I was just asked to drum for my church because they are in need of a drummer. Originally I'm a guitar player for about 20 years of experience. Drumming on the other hand I'm about 6 months of playing experience but things are coming along fairly well and fast. Everlasting God is one of the songs we play and I can use all the help I can get especially on the fills. Your fills are awesome in this song. Awesome Dustin, Glad you are serving your church. As you might be able to tell I have not made a video in quite some time. I took a position as a senior pastor and it's been a huge project. I would like to get back to making videos soon, maybe in. a month or so. My main tip to any new drummer is, to focus on the solid groove, and don't worry so much about the fills. I would much rather have a solid drummer that only played groove (check out steve Jordan) vs a drummer who could play cool fills, but lacked super solid time. I'm praying for your new adventure.

So, I kinda feel like Lars here, asking what an up beat is... However, I guess I hadn’t put together that cymbals on the melody was a jazz influence. I lean toward jazz and big band, but appreciate the art in most everything. I guess it spills over, since I didn’t realize til now that I did it naturally.
Watch, now I’m going to be like the guy who’s been asked, “Do you Inhale, on your back swing, or Exhale?” I’ll probly freeze up tomorrow during a song coz I’m thinking about it. 🤔🥶😑
