If you think about it, King is basically the same as the king chess-piece. He's weak. All he mostly does is run away. Monsters are attracted to him the same way all the other chess pieces are always trying to check mate the king. Everyone else basically protects him knowingly or unknowingly.

I think we can all agree that King's power is Luck (or fate/destiny) but.....is it good luck or bad? Sure, on the surface, it appears good, he's made a literal career out of it, and the entire world, it seems, respects him, but he's also an otaku who'd rather be at home, playing video games and far away from the danger. He shows real courage, at times, but he's almost literally being forced into these kind of situations by circumstance and from his inner thoughts we can see that he doesn't want it/wants to escape it....he's kinda like the Midas of Luck, everything he touches goes well for him, whether he wants it to or not.
