His story reminded me when my son was delivering pizzas an elderly woman asked him if he could change a light bulb in her kitchen. She offered to pay him and he refused. He thinks she only ordered the pizza to get someone over there. She had the bulb out on the table ready. It was so sad, she had no one she could count on to help out.
I'm not living in a city right now ,I did in numerous huge cities when I was young which is the best because you're full of energy and the cities provide that energy...now that I'm older want the peace and quiet, friendly neighbors, slower place, nature, animals...unfortunately don't quite have all that I'm in a mid size town in a not so great state( their politics) and I'm at the age where my people I've known and loved are starting to get health problems, some have left this earth , and I have no children and my family is spread around the country. So yes...I'll probably be like the person he's singing about here. But in the mean time this channel here helps me "rock on" !!!🎵☮️👍
Well, don't keep us guessing - did he change the bulb!? Seriously, I have done remarkably simple things for older women living alone - changing a bulb, switching furnace filter, emptying and resetting rat traps, etc. I have been told I am a hero for doing such things. It just seems neighborly to me, but they just won't get done unless and until someone who can will do them.
Here’s the blessing I was thinking about earlier…. If you’re truly a believer and I am a believer we’ll meet each other someday. I don’t believe there are strangers in Heaven. ❤
And you know this boy's mama sent her son over to the old man's house not only so the old man would not be lonely, but so her son would have a male role model that he could develop a relationship with. Someone honest and upstanding to guide her son into manhood.
I'm 74, own more than 80 acres. My kids all know where to put my carcass within 24 hrs with no embalming. It's legal when you own your property. I'll rest in peace like " old man Wriggle". !
This song is based on a real life situation that Ronnie Dunn experienced as a child. Ronnie Dunn took us to church with this song. So well written and well executed!
What no one ever seems to catch is the beauty of this precious older man taking time to spend with this kiddo who probably needed a strong male figure in his life. And because he developed a real relationship with him, when he shared his faith in Jesus with him, it left a legacy of faith with this boy. He didn’t shove the gospel down this kid’s throat, but when the boy asked how he handled his grief, he gave him a real answer. The strongest spiritual act you can do on this earth is love someone. Serve someone unselfishly. Because God is love. Thanks for a great reaction as always 🔥🔥🔥
I haven't seen a lot of his reactions but I did see his original reaction to this song and he came really close to tears. I was wondering if he has listened to any Chris Stapleton?
You can't look at nature, and the makeup of the human body, and not know there is not a creator, and intelligent design. A baby being born is a miracle.
This Man needed the Boy in his life and the boy needed him. The man that sang this wrote it because he became a believer because of this Older Gentlemans faith❤
Hey Peg..you were right you know. About some of the people who watch the reaction channels. I’m 70, alone, my children away…no-one around. I watch you reacting to music and lyrics that I grew up with and it’s not just that I love the music but it’s also the connection to fellow humans. I know you guys didn’t elaborate on it but I saw the thought go across your mind and I wanted to tell you so. Later…🎉
Many days reaction channels are the closest I have to a conversation. Actually, sometimes it's better ...when I think of long-winded or annoying people. 😂 I can turn them off or to another one without anyone getting upset.
During the first reaction to this song where it was just BP, he very specifically mentioned the "words in red". Unless I'm getting it confused with a different channel, but I thought it was him.
Don, BP, I'm almost 50 and cry to this song every time I hear it. We've all got that one person this song reminds us of. Great reaction, time for me to dry my eyes and get on with my day. Love and miss you dad!
This is how I grew up. We had a "Widow Woman" down the road from my childhood home. She would let us kids pick fruit off of her trees. The Moms would send us to deliver dinner or sometimes homemade jelly or pie from her fruit. I used to sweep her sidewalk while she told me stories or sang gospel hymns. Beautiful memories ❤
If a child isn't exposed to racism and hate then he will grows to treat everyone the same and the world learn to work together, after all, we are all one family in God's eyes, having love in your heart is the greatest thing you could ever have in life cause love also has respect and care for others too.
Don, it is wonderful to hear you speak of your kindness to widows who have no one to help with such simple things as changing light bulbs, getting the lid off a pickle jar, and lifting something that is just too heavy for them. Getting older is not for sissies, and I have learned to put my pride aside and ask for help from young folks, who actually seem to be pleased to lend a hand. My son never comes around, my grandchildren are off in another state at college, and life gets pretty lonesome most days. I watch your reaction show because I love the music you play of my young generation and get tickled at how much you seem to actually like it. We had great musicians in my teenage years that I have now come to really appreciate, Elvis, Bee Gees, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Carpenters, Eagles, and so many many more. Thank you guys for a delightful afternoon !
I know just what you mean. I am 68. My husband died 21 yrs ago. I finished raising our youngest 2 without him. We had 5. Now they're all grown, families of their own. I am lucky to have 1 granddaughter and she lives with me at this time. She is a big help to me. I have one daughter that lives close by n we help each other. With my health issues I don't know what I'd do without them! I believe!
Oh wow, I’ve never heard this before what a beautiful song, what a voice 😭 A beautiful message. I thank goodness for my neighbours who have helped me since I was widowed, they would do anything to help me day or night. Bless you Don for helping some of the elders you have met. Keep up the great work.
You guys make a terrific team. It's great to see reactors who actually listen to a song rather than interrupting every 16 seconds, and then have an intelligent, real-life conversation about what they've just heard. It doesn't matter whether I agree with your opinion -- and sometimes I don't. But your reactions seem honest, and that makes tuning in rewarding as well as entertaining.
In our neighborhood if your yard went ten days since the last time you mowed, it got mowed. Neighbors knew when you were sick, when there was an illness in the family; the doorbell would ring and there would be a hot meal, a hot plate of cookies..... Then there's the Church family.... STAY CONNECTED! Pay Attention.
Tell Don I'm one of those old widows and he's right .... sometimes it's impossible to find someone to help you. My daughter has her own health issues and my son is 7 states away! Over the years, I've had to figure it out and the rest, I just let it go. Not gonna spend my last years on earth stressing about a well manicured lawn or a clean house. Me and my cats & dogs will be ok with God's help but it sure is a HUGE blessing when someone offers to help!!!!
Don't let the failure of humans miss the glory of God. We are all imperfect and not one of us knows the truth. That is why it is called faith and belief not knowledge. The greatest gift God ever gave us is our biggest burden, free will. It is up to each of us what we do with it and we all face the consequences.
@cindyk.6462 right now I can not. I am angry God took my baby. We have this love hate relationship right now. I am working on it slowly but it has only been 5 1/2 months
My sister and I just moved. We’re both in our 60’s and have trouble doing certain things. Our custodian is always there when we need help. He does get paid by he complex but we are so grateful for him ❤
Found your channel & became subrciber by seeing your Elvis reaction Check out American Trilogy song from live Elvis concert, Aloha from Hawaii, which was the first worldwide live concert that was broadcast by satellite and was seen by over 40 countries, and was seen by 1.5 billion viewers. It's still today the most watched entertainment show with only one performer and Amsrong walking on the moon! All the profits went to the Kui Lee Cancer Foundation, This concert turns 50 years old and still is impressive how ahead of his time was! Keep staying real! Congrats for the new baby!
Another great country song is the legend George Jones he stopped loving her today And another one that would probably make you tear up is brad paisley whiskey lullaby
This is why I love reactions. Fantastic share! Btw, how cool is it to have a good friend that feels free to open up? That is true friendship. Great reaction and share, sirs!!🤓🤠👊🏼
Thanks for your channel I’m a 65 year old man that grew up listening to everything from country rock to R&B keep it real music comes from the heart and touches the soul
HUMAN CONNECTION: there's not much MORE VALUABLE. Everyone just needs to know that they MATTER to SOMEONE! This song embodies that. The two characters really needed EACH OTHER! Can't make it through this one, YET, without tearing-up. THANKS for reacting to this one, Guys!! There should be more old men that share their knowledge and kindness with young people....there should be more boys that learn from that experience and kindness, shared....and, there should be MORE MOMMAs that send their child over to "take things" to those people: EVERYONE GAINS. It's what I think our world is missing, more and more. This song reminds me of people / communities when I was growing up....but: I'm old. THANKS for THIS ONE, GUYS!!! HUGS!!
Man you are 100% correct. There is nothing like a strong community. That is what Jason Aldean talked about in Try That in a Small Town. Small town people know everyone and take care of each other. They come together in good times and in bad.
Dierks Bentley, Riser or I Hold On. Your correct, after being injuried last summer and now in my 9th month of recovery. The isolation has been terrible. Reactions and the creators have been my lifeline. I've learned new music and thanks for the company.
Tears and chills. I cry every time I see this. I grew u in a very small Georgia town in middle Georgia and this is how it was. Neighbors looking after each other.
From what I have been told, "honkytonk" was an onomatopoeia of the sounds that came from early low-rent bars. It became associated with a type of rhythm driven piano forward music.
True, although there's no real consensus on how the phrase originated, it became a common lable for smaller "dive bars" with driving loud music, mainly in the lower Midwest and Texas.
This popped up after watching BP's reaction to "Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty (another awesome tune). BP not wanting to be entombed in a casket makes sense for someone with a free spirit. I'm more with Don about being "worm food" because embalming freaks me out too. That method of preserving bodies was particularly important when sending bodies of deceased soldiers back home from overseas. It is also helpful for an industry that profits from delaying the decaying process to hold paid ceremonies. None of this is necessary. Nature recycles regardless of how much we may try to manipulate or override it.
This song made me blubber the first time I heard it. It's a wonderfully heart-warming story with a real moral. Old man Wrigley shared the Gospel with the young boy in a very tangible way. Our lives are a journey. Find the truth.
I feel the same way as Don about growing up in the Catholic church. Didn't get answers that made sense, so I left, but "I Believe" we will see our loved ones on the other side. It's all about community and loving our neighbors. Great reaction!❤
I've seen this video many times since it's release, but it never fails to bring me to tears. The power of the message, the visuals, and Ronnie Dunn's beautiful voice bring the story to life for me. Excellent reaction, guys.
Ronnnie Dunn had a song out after Brooks and Dunn went their separate ways, I Worship the Woman you walked on, it’s amazing and his vocals are unmatched ❤
This song hits every single time especially now that my dad has passed and I picture my kiddos in this video cause they were so close...lord this song!
I would love to see people be able to live together in one large house, like boarders in the old days. Maybe a a widow who doesnt want to leave the house shes raised her family and lived in for 50 yrs, a younger person going thru hard times not able to pay for outragoeous rents but can help with the large house ,yard , others with other capablaskills to help...pitching in with groceries ,cleaning, meals...but who can trust anyone these days!
I find the elderly have fantastic stories to tell and life lessons to share...people need to give them the time of day whenever they can...youll come away having learned something, always 👍❤️
Ronnie Dun broke off on his own for a bit and did a song that hits me hard called Cost of Living. Its based on true events and is about life after a plant shut down in a small town. Love to hear your take!
More of an analytical review than just a regular music reaction video. I love the in depth aspect of the song and reaction after with comparing parallels. You guys hit on something that a lot of minds can't grasp in the chaos and turmoil in the world today. And i truly thank the both of you from the pit of my soul. God Bless you and the U.S.A.
This song does pull at the heartstrings. It's a beautiful song and he has a great voice. I've seen this video once before, can't say where or when and didn't know the group was Brookes and Dunne so I'm grateful to see this again and know who sang it. Really like when you have Don join you in the reactions. I like that you want to share your discoveries with other reactors and get their take on things you've already reacted to.
I have one foot in each world and it has been to my benefit. I was from Orange County, CA and I married a man who grew up on a family farm in Missouri. We almost made it to 50 years but he passed six years ago. We lived in every time zone, some twice. We lived in major cities and tiny towns. We had great friends in all of them and our kids grew up being comfortable in Newport Beach and on a tractor counting calves. My grand kids have had a little of it but some of the older ones have passed on so they don’t go back and forth every year. We raised ours in Colorado. Back when Denver was called a cow town with class.
I also heard a good recommendation the other day that if you were at a church where no one is crying, it's time to move on and find another church because no one's getting born again.
You are the first person I've seen react to this song that actually mentioned the mother in this story. I've been waiting for someone to take notice of that and talk about it.
You're feeling the spirit speaking truth to you. There is life after death! We should help others and be part of a community! God's word is truth and will comfort you in your trials!
Honky-tonk refers to a bar that generally had a piano player that played ragtime style music that was a forerunner of boogie woogie style piano playing. It's been used in terminology since sometime in the 1800's. Thanks for the reaction, guys.
Inside of every boy is a man waiting to be called out. Like a voice on the wind, a call in the wild night. Every boy unknowingly listens for his call to manhood, most are never called.
They've got a couple of similar songs. He already did Boot Scootin' Boogie. Rock My World Little Country Girl, and You Can't Take The Honky Tonk Out Of The Girl also come to mind. And I apologize if I messed up the song titles, I don't have them handy, and I've got a kitty insisting that I cuddle him so I couldn't get up to look them up.

😢So sweet and sad

Thank you for sharing this. There are people that are all alone. Your son made a difference that day.
Well, don't keep us guessing - did he change the bulb!?

This is a true story from Ronnie Dunn's childhood. He's the singer.
He did it in one take.
This is not from his childhood, this is someone else's song that he co wrote on
Research shows it was written by Ronnie in regards to his childhood.
@@lisagiroux55, yes, you are correct.
At 74 with the wins and losses at my back, all of my family gone and 2 children lost to this world. " I Believe"
God Bless You. I'm sorry for your losses. But I'm so glad for all you have gained. I too believe.
Amen!! 🙏God Bless you!!! ❤️ I Believe ✨
God knows right where they are. He will never let them go. Just believe
Here’s the blessing I was thinking about earlier…. If you’re truly a believer and I am a believer we’ll meet each other someday. I don’t believe there are strangers in Heaven. ❤

It takes a real man to cry and country music can do that to ya 🇺🇸
Pirates of the Mississippi "Feed Jake" gets me every damn time. 😂
Not sure how much you have heard of lead singer Ronnie Dunn, but I could listen to that man sing a phone book. Great voice!
I think My Maria should be the next B&D reaction, just to showcase what he can do with his voice.
As Dr. Phil always said, big boys may not cry but real men do! Great song and reaction.
This Man needed the Boy in his life and the boy needed him. The man that sang this wrote it because he became a believer because of this Older Gentlemans faith❤
I turned 50 last year. Time flies by so fast. Every time I see this video and it tears me up. Ronnie Dunn is amazing

One of the greatest songs ever done by Brooks & Dunn--hell, ever frankly.

Need to react to "My Maria"! Ronnie Dunn has an amazing vocal range! 🤠
Ronnie sang that with every bit of sole in his body!!
Lee Ann Womack's song "DANCE" makes me tear up ...absolutely beautiful!
Yes. Gotta hear and react to this one! (With your wife)
Please react to this...
I hope you dance - - beautiful song.
Agreed. I also love Miranda Lambert " Tin Man". I bet he'd enjoy both of those songs.
I've been telling him all week to play that song since he had a baby this week! I imagine him rappin' it to his girls someday hahahah the "remix"!

You need to next do Brooks and Dunn " Only in America" - a great song and somewhat patriotic as well
Rarely does a song bring tears to my eyes, but this one did. So much truth, wisdom, and reality wrapped into one song.
What a beautiful voice. He can sing and tell stores.
It's like Mr. Wrigley turned the bible pages to show the pic of his wife at the end to show the young man that he was back with his wife.

This song and video is timeless and never loses it's power no matter how many times you hear and watch it.
You can hear it in his voice and presentation of the Song ,This is a actual chapter in Ronnie's life for he is that young boy in this song.
I tear up about 5 seconds in. And Ive watched umptren reactions to this. Still tearing up!
This song is so touching, absolutely beautiful.❤️✌🏻🎶
I also heard a good recommendation the other day that if you were at a church where no one is crying, it's time to move on and find another church because no one's getting born again.
You are the first person I've seen react to this song that actually mentioned the mother in this story. I've been waiting for someone to take notice of that and talk about it.
I don’t know how you could hear and watch this and not cry!
From what I understand, this song 🎧 is a story from his childhood
my first time too - excellent vocal expression throughout. Thank you
I love this song
I’m glad I’m from a small town. Does it get lonely sometime sure. But I’m glad I live where I live.
You're feeling the spirit speaking truth to you. There is life after death! We should help others and be part of a community! God's word is truth and will comfort you in your trials!
Love that song, makes me tear up and remember my past. ❤️
Honky-tonk refers to a bar that generally had a piano player that played ragtime style music that was a forerunner of boogie woogie style piano playing. It's been used in terminology since sometime in the 1800's. Thanks for the reaction, guys.
Beautiful song made me tear up . Its true the older you get the more you can connect to God , well thats how its been for me .
Don you just made me cry.😢 Thank you for sharing that remarkable story you just shared. Watching from Virginia
Your reaction, to this reminds me so much of the song "the year that Clayton Delaney died" by Tom t hall. Thanks for a great reaction.
I feel for your lost childhood. I will keep you both in prayer.
Inside of every boy is a man waiting to be called out. Like a voice on the wind, a call in the wild night. Every boy unknowingly listens for his call to manhood, most are never called.
Ronnie has an absolute fantastic voice !
I'm waiting for you to do a reaction to Brooks and Dunn "Play Something Country". If you ain't country by then, you will never be.
Honky-tonk bar is basically just a version for southern country bar
Wow! Haven't heard this song in year's! Love it❤ best reaction video ever watched. Thank you
Thanks for being genuine and truthful, Don...it's beautiful to see such vulnerability
A beautiful and touching reaction. Thank you so much.
Tear jerker for sure! Thank’s y’all!❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
I Have Been pronounced Dead Twice and Have spoken to God, Believe God Exists and He Loves You All ,God Bless You My Brother 's and Sister's ❤😊❤
This young man returned to Old Man Ridley's house because Mr. Ridley changed the boys life as well.
Perfect song, perfectly sung and filmed.
