We brought taco's??? This video barely talked about Hispanic heritage month. Instead it basically talked about how these people were being victimized. And they also reenforced their own stereotypes. As a Puerto Rican I think this video is horrible.
That lady who said “we gave you tacos, you’re welcome” she’s the one that makes us look bad, we are more than just tacos, we give more than just tacos. She’s just as ignorant as the people she claims this will educate. She’s clearly not educated her self and is the reason why we have stereotypes. I as a Mexican don’t think I’m just all about tacos… theirs more to me and my people. This video is embarrassing. This is why we don’t have enough right representation, because of this garbage.
This would’ve been a great video to show my students if México hadn’t said a particular word that completely made it inappropriate in a school setting. Either way, ¡Viva México!
@@samanthabriceno2157 I was trying to use this fr my class as well lol. She ruined it.
@@kathrynmaurer8284 I inserted the video twice on the same slide. I stopped the first one at 2:40, just before word. I had the second video start at 2:45. I hope this helps.
"we're not told about anything (Hispanic Heritage) in school." I have this for homework...
Hispanic Heritage Month celebrating cultural genocide of Native Americans and Native American culture not Hispanic not Latino not white
"I'm 50% Cuban🇨🇺 and 50% Salvadorian🇳🇮, go hispanic✊!"
I’m a Afro Cuban descent. I’m learning about my Cuban heritage, and I also have a Bajan heritage, even though I was born and raised in VA throughout my entire life. I’m a proud Afro Caribbean Latina descent 🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇧🇧🇧🇧🇧🇧
I love my culture every day i dont need a month to remind me what my heritage is.
For the love of god stop using Latinx. That’s an entitled American term that is not used in Latin America. Stop trying to change other people’s cultures.
LATINO refers any to any person who speaks a language that origin is LATIN, so that latinos are NOT only latinamericans, also French, Portuguese, Italian, galician, catalan and Rumanian.
@Daniel Morales Latino means latin and the languages that are derived from vulgar latin are Romanian, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and French.
In English it refers to latin america latin europe is excluded because their identities aren't as similar
I have this for homework lol 😂
so we all watched this in class
that taco statement was TRASH
@@Alvaro-wu6sh its so lame and overused TACO TACOO TACOO TACOOO EVERYWHERE like really?
@18 Joaquin theyre whitewashed hispanics trying to fit in,they want to feel special
I hate when people get so offended when someone confuses them with Mexican. I bet if someone said they looked European they would get a giggly. If I get confused with another group I just correct them and move on. They wish they were Mexican.
Only Hispanics in America get offended. Latin Americans are a different breed. Much more chill.
Nobody likes to constantly be confused with another country/culture, Brazilians don’t like being called Hispanic doubt u cry racism 😂
I have to do this for classwork but it’s a cool vid so I’m not mad 😆
1:46 No, no, no, no!
Latino or Latina is refering to the people from Latium, actual Lacio, in central Italy. This denomination passed with the Latin language (Official language of Roman Empire), from where comes languages as spanish, portuguese, french, italian, rumanian and others. We're called latin people because of that, it is called Latin America because the languages spoken in that region are of latin roots: spanish, portuguese and french (by this definition Quebec is Latin America too).
So people, please, put order to your defenitions. In conclusion:
Latin people: people with cultural roots into latin language, roman culture, or Latium.
Iberian: people with cultural roots in Iberia, spanish and portuguese.
Hispanic: people with cultural roots in Spain.
Loved it but please delete the "pendejo" word so I can show it to my students. Also, the Spanish language comes from Latin, hence we are also called Latinos, right?
Yes, Spanish derives from Vulgar Latin. Please do not teach your kids about Latinx. That is not used in Latin America. That’s an entitled American (not all Americans) word. They’re trying to change other peoples cultures
In reality Latino applied to Americans was a French idea to invade Mexico and keep Mexicans submissive because "you're Latins just like us!!"
Americans changed the meaning of latin and Spanish. Also made up the term Hispanic for census purposes.
There is a mistake here, big mistake. Latinos include Spain. The reason Spaniards are Latin is because they speak a LATIN language (Spanish).. Spaniards are Latin, they are NOT Latin Americans (that is the difference). Brazilians are Latin because they speak Portuguese ( another Latin language) but they are not Hispanic, they are not connected to Hispania (which is the original name of Spain).
2 out of 5, only 2 out of 5 said the name of their people in spanish... you sure your latino? porque si no eres capaz de entender esto sin usar traductor google, algo raro pasa ahí.
I was okay until that girl said the taco comment, this is why it’s important so we don’t sound as ignorant as her. We are more than tacos and we have given more than just tacos. She legit is saying what she said she’s fighting against.
❤ 🇺🇸 💙 🇬🇹
This is the same people who don’t talk to native Spanish speakers
Didn't BuzzFeed already cover this topic in their Hey White People series? That didn't go so well, so why not learn from others mistakes.
Im Hispanic and i dont want this. we dont need a month for a people. the only celebration that matters is Celebrating God.
Mock me all you want.
Pues, como chileno la verdad siento que es una cosa que hacen los gringos para sentirse como heroes inclusivos
por el pico los gringos culiaos yeraa
Yikes, the cursing at 2:43 limits how we can share this...so disappointing :(
isn't it small-minded and offensive to the Hispanic and Latino countries bordering us to the south? They are nations with a culture and heritage, so why is it the United State's place to celebrate it, as if we speak for other nations, as if we are better than them and can better celebrate who their culture?
So this doesn't celebrate people from Spain or Portugal? Then I'm excluded as usual.
@@samanthabriceno2157 I live in California. If you're not mexican than nobody considers you hispanic. I'm portugese, spanish and german.
@@samanthabriceno2157 I thought Brazilians were now considered latino. Even though they don't speak spanish they speak a Latin language. And live in Latin America.
Daniel Morales Spain is included its a Spanish speaking country. You just won’t be considered a latino
@@johnp8587 Brazilians are latinx, but not hispanic. Spaniards are hispanic, but not latinx.
So, are you American first, or latino/a/x first? They are mutually exclusive.
Exactly, what Miguel Sifuentes said. I thought this was a great video but one word made it unusable for school,¡ Qué lástima!
Hispania 218 aC, antes Cristo.
I wanted to use this video for my 3rd graders but once one of the ladies said PENDEJO, I was like NOPE NOPE NOPE. Love the video but not age appropriate for kids -_-
Whitexicans
How is that guy hispanic if he speak Arabic as first language. Even most Arab Hispanics can’t speak Spanish. How?
You don't necesarilly nees to be fluent in Spanish to be Hispanic, but being muslim and only speaking Arabic is weird as f***k. Even Muslims from Argelia, which city Orán was Spanish for over 200 years, speak some Spanish. Lol. And they're technically not considered Hispanic.
The victimhood
They say they have so much more to be proud of than just tacos, but then they give zero examples... outside of salsa dancing or whatever.
It's not "pretty obvious" to me. Why don't you enlighten me with what you are trying to say?
As far as I can tell, European nations are more diverse than South and Central American ones, speaking FAR more languages and so on. European history is also innumerably more ancient and rich, spanning thousands of years, rather than mere hundreds as colonies, and mere decades as failed independent shitholes.
George Spanish countries aren’t shitholes... were way more diverse than European countries. Our countries aren’t like Africa, that’s a shithole country. We have way more history than your country. And plus, we don’t see you embracing your country.
My rubish school I working on this lol
Opening points:
1-yes
2-world history, just don't fail out of it
3-only when you can't speak English which is a requirement to immigrate
4-no... just no
5-only sort of, but mostly not
Good Question... Why would Americans celebrate ..
" Hispanic heritage month " ?
Because we are here it's our country as well we are Hispanics Americans, you do know not all americans are a certain color correc, race,or have the same culture as yours,if you dont know this by now then I can't help you.
Because Latin America is also in America. I hope you can learn geography one day
Assigning this for homework is going to make young generations not want to learn about this.
From Alaska to the Patagonia is America , unless you are European then you are European American 🥴
esa muchacha tiene estilo quisiera conocerla que si we ....
Esta gente ni siquiera es latinoamericana o es hispana.

I’m just waiting for white history month to become a thing.
spain is in euroupe XD lmao yep defintly latin american
Latino in Spanish certainly does not excludes Spain. Latino for starters just applied to white Europeans. You have been dumb down for living in the USA, sorry.
dawh bro said "Latinx"
bro is not latino bruh
Argentina is also latinoamerica
Arabic muslim on the wrong video same with the white girls.😂😂😂
Yes you gave Americans tacos and drugs too😂
Technically the drugs comes from South America and not Mexico they are just the middleman.
You probably don't get taught it because America isn't a Hispanic country, at least not yet...
AHH she cursed lmaao
To be Hispanic, you have to be from Spain.
To be hispanic (an American made word) you hace to be descendant of the Iberian peninsula.
@@Kagrepav Hispanic is Not a country, Hispanic is a civilization that covers many continents.. Most of the world spoke Spanish at some point... But since you're Not Hispanic, you won't understand it... It's a hard concept for your brain...

These people should be talking about how proud they are to be citizens of the United States. Instead of being hung up on where their parents or ancestors were from.
