Eddie was a guest on Ruby Wax's chat show in England. I chopped out a few second at the beginning to keep it under 10 minutes - it was mainly introduction and asking a question about shopping.
"They all hang out in groups of five and it seems to be because they have a fifth of a personality each"! Eddie is the best. I wonder what he was like as a teenager, I wonder if he was this funny. God, he's is hysterical!
I'd say this is probably before or after Definite Article. Not sure though since he does alot of bits from Unrepeatable and Definite Article. So in the mid-90s I'd say. Really good though!
Actually, I was expecting it to be worse from the comments about Ruby.. I actually found this entertaining. If you ever check out what those horrible women on The View did to him.. this is actually ok.
I actually thought about this for a little while. There is no specific item of clothing that I can think of that if a woman wears it there is an instant "You cannnot wear that!!" reaction from people. But there is a female dress code. I have had comments about "dressing like a boy" or not wearing makeup, etc. Thus "close but not quite." I think the lucky part for females is that negative criticism for breaking gendered dress codes tends to not be knee-jerk or violent, such as males get.
nowadays guys where eyeliner alot so its more commonplace. but you can Can get mistaken for a bloke of youre a girl. i used to have less hair than a crew cut. and people Do get confused.
Really? I've never seen her before, or heard of her. All I'm saying is she was either interrupting him, or not letting him speak. When you watch an interview, you watch it for the guest, and not the Inteviewer. And I feel she didn't give him enough time.
It's funny. I love Ruby, as a person as a comedian. But she is still clearly soooo American. She's so hung up on the female/male sexuality thing. She blows 5 minutes on this interview. Transvestism is not being a drag queen. He's str8!. He just likes wearing women's clothes. His point is brilliant. Why can't we wear whatever the hell we want? It is 'society' that shouts you down. Go Eddie!!!
Whenever Eddie talks about this, and suggests the Idea of walkin into a shop to buy a dress (as a man) the audience laugh? As if its a rediculous concept. frustrating...In the moment he's justifying it, people are laughing at its impossibility
Ahh, he's hilerious. You can just see him getting more and more wound up as she fails to get crosdresing. He's wrong about women having total clothing freedom. They have *more* freedom, cirtainly, but if it was total then women shoping in the mens section wouldn't get wierd looks and directed repeatedly to the lades section.
Yeah, Eddie was good, but I severely dislike this woman who seemed to be more interested in showing off her vocabulary than talking to the immensely funny guy.

Ruby's show was the funniest thing on TV back in the 90´s
Ruby is an American expatriate in the United Kingdom.

"If anybody has a problem with that, they can stuff it". That's right. Suck on that!!

i laughed at that very much as well.
That lady was nuts.
She still is. She's made a great career out of it.
I don't know who this is but when was Eddie on this show and why doesn't she have an English accent if this is in England?

Who is Ruby Wax? She seems cool.
"Women have total clothing rights- there are no female transvestites, I just wear what I want"- yeah ... I kinda follow this. ;)
I find it kind of odd that he quoted part of his routine .
Whoa whoa whoa...
What's so bad about Ruby still being "so American?"
And it's her job to ask celbs those sorts of questions.
Really? I've never seen her before, or heard of her.

I will say that women have a lot more freedom in what they wear. However they- we =do not have total clothing freedom, close but not quite.
