- Is the Aston Martin DB11 a game-changing Aston Martin?

A new turbocharged V12 engine matched to a new platform and with a new look. The initial shots at Geneva weren't convincing, but now the curves are very apparent.
The DB11 is Aston's first move away from the Vertical/Horizontal methodology which is slightly longer than the DB9 giving engineers more room to slot the twin-turbo V12 behind the front axle and the transmission housed in a transaxle, allowing for greater agility in what is essentially a heavy grand tourer.
Do you think the DB11 can launch Aston Martin successfully into its second century?

Dude.. awesome review!!! You got yourself a sub!!! :)
Placing the gearbox at the rear of a car has been around for some time, Porsche 944 and Maserati Quatroporte immediately spring to mind, but I am sure there are plenty of other cars that have employed this engineering solution to balance out the weight distribution and sharpen up the handling.
Looks up to date and edgy and not dowdy like the old ones were really starting to look.
shows Aston still has some design spunk.
great car.
Great review.
Looks great, I would not give it 10/10 tho. However, hasa unique character to it, basically what AM wants to achieve with the new line-up.
rivals the old 8v8 vantage in the styling department. and that's not easy.
I like the place and background
thx alot
Good looking car .. But I'd rip out the merc tablet thingy
Any chance of a review on the new Abarth 595 Competitzone
Awesome interior
Nobody else does a transaxle layout? Did I miss something? Amg gt, corvette, and probably other models.
It's obviously been done for quite a long time now. He was referring to the use of the transaxle layout with the ZF 8-speed.
+Connor M. I guess only their own Aston Martin Rapide with a transaxle zf is using it, but from a 2door gt standpoint you're right.
Great Review! What's the colour of the car?
My dream car...
Well done Dan, not mentioning the 911 for 6 mins, 6 whole minutes. 911 - Default everyday Supercar. The DB11 is a GT not a supercar, pointless comment. Otherwise nice vid.
My Lottery Win GT. I Can Dream, Can't I?
should i get this over the vanquish ?
Used Vanquish now, then a new Vanquish when they're released.

Danish motor journalists isn't impressed. They like the engine, but handling and ride dissapoints.
Danish motor journalists don't know shit! They've had too much coffee and danish!
From a design point of view they have completely missed the boat to make this car different, and refreshing, it just looks like the same old car, and why the hell would you put turbos on a V12 engine, make no sense, and then there is the weight, 1800kg, WTF!.
I think they do that now to cut down on emissions; but I do agree.
In the skin it looks totally different to the old ones, the new, wider proportions totally transform it, its lovely up close and seen on the street. And why put turbos on a V12? lol, where have you been the past decade? There are laws the dictate whether a car will allowed to be sold in various countries or not and the harshest laws guard the largest markets... new turbos are smooth, efficient and produce a shit load of torque, perfect for GTs. And talking of GTs, Astons have never been light cars, most of that 1800kg is that huge engine and drive train. The rest is taken up by that cushty interior that make characterise Astons. All valid reasons for this brand, this model and this market.
